ND tested 91 student athletes in the football program for COVID-19.

They had one (1) player test positive. He is asymptomatic and in quarantine.

He had contact with four other players, who each tested negative, but are now in isolation as well.

All coaches/staff tested negative.

This is astoundingly good news.

That's by far the lowest of any CFB team I've heard. I was legit worried that some guys would come in with Corona then it slowly spreads throughout the team, causing a ton of guys to miss games and cause a few Ls.

I can't help but wonder if a lot of this is top-down. Dabo was very flippant about the virus and his program has some of the highest instances in the country. Kelly was much more serious about it.

It is very good. With invited walk ons we should have about 105 players, so I wonder who isn't back and why. And if they'll tell us.

Goes to show you how intelligent and smart the players are that choose ND.

Could be other reasons, and I hate to really make this a debate about things we don't truly know... But we could have kids with families that are better off, thus more able to "survive" the quarantines and such.

That's a good theory, but there were also dozens of cases on Clemson's staff, who are presumably well off.

Or, ND really goes after those kids with their heads screwed on straight and parents who know how to parent regardless of their economic stature.

People here in the south have not taken the virus seriously at all. I think a lot of people really believed that the virus was similar to the flu and the heat of the south would keep the virus at bay. South Carolina, specifically, was one of the least restrictive states and very few people have followed the social distancing/mask requests being made by the Governor.

Just look at the numbers over the last two weeks in SC, NC, and FL. They are exploding.
Greenville, SC, the city closest to Clemson, just went with a mandated mask policy for grocery stores and pharmacies. Better late than never I guess.

Or, Dabo is going for community immunity among his players/staff - mostly young very healthy athletes, with excellent care immediately available- so come September/October, he knows exactly what he has and has no limits working it.

Just sayin´

And they should just stop testing all together. Nothing good comes from testing people. It only brings on bad press. Which is obviously the most important thing to avoid. If they stopped testing the number of infected cases would go to zero overnight. Especially with their warmer climate the cases would drop off perfectly like it never even happened. They should be praised for taking such action.
