I get the recruiting advantages of showing up in Texas or

Lambeau seems like a bucket-list kind of venue, so, fair enough, but generally, games at NFL stadiums blow. The atmosphere's just not the same. I went to see ND play Syracuse at the Meadowlands a couple years ago and it was dreadful.

Agreed, I got to go to the Army game in 16 in the Alamodome and then the Temple game in 17 and Ball State game in 18 which were both at home. Same caliber of opponents in all three. The atmosphere was better in both the home games then the Alamo Dome.

I get the recruiting advantages of showing up in Texas or Tennessee, but I don't think it's so bad for us to play road games in the Midwest, too. Recruiting aside, more of our alums, and students, can attend than will make the trip south or to ACC country. That's important too.

I'd rather play on-campus myself. When I was a student we'd road trip to games at Michigan, MSU, Purdue, and it was always a good time. (OK, Purdue less so). Madison would be awesome.

I guess I prioritize recruiting and winning (LF is likely better than Madision for us), more than fan experience. you're so selfish stlnd01 :)

It's a goddamn travesty that it's not in Camp Randall for the traditional "Jump Around"

Jump Around is lame, not a good reason to go to Madison. Lambeau is the legendary venue within the state of Wisconsin. Camp Randall ain't the Horseshoe, Death Valley, or (forgive me) even the Big House. This isn't a game vs LSU in the Superdome, passing on a chance to go to Death Valley. This is rightly seeing that there's a better alternative.

Tbf I think the 2016's season had a big part of the (lack of) atmosphere in the Alamodome.

I should point out we lost every single one of those Midwestern road games I road-tripped to in college at Michigan, MSU and Purdue (while mostly beating those teams when they came to ND).
I blame Bob Davie. But maybe it was the scheduling. ;)

TBF (and I've never been there) but the Alamodome seems a uniquely bad place to attend a college football game. Especially one between two schools that are both located thousands of miles away.

All I know is you better not go to the LF game...

You are correct sir. Even if ND was better that season, I still think the atmosphere wouldn't have compared to what happens in a college stadium. Going to a NFL stadium minimizes the lack of pagentry and tradition that really make CFB unique

Plus, Curly Lambeau is a Domer (& in both the NFL & CFB HOF). So we got that going for us...which is nice.

I can see it now .... the ND cheerleaders towards the end of the game run out with those big signs to lead the crowd in the traditional cheer.

Optimistic post of the month:
Pay a deposit for Fiesta Bowl tickets and then go submit your lottery application for the CFP Championship. Peach bowl looks fully subscribed to season holders though.

https://fiestabowl.org/tickets/

https://cfpdrawing2020.fishsoftware.com/tickets/

Wisconsin series is one of the few I think make sense to go pro. Both teams get half the tickets and will have huge local fanbases to draw upon for both games. Wisconsin fans will hate playing in Soldier Field and low T pasty boys will not want to go all the way to Chicago - that's like a whole nuther country - even though it is closer to Madison/Milwaukee than GB.

Yuck. Rice, Tulane & SMU would have jumped at the chance. Marshall must have low-balled the field on their kick back.

The good news? They can bring all 20,000 of their Green & White fans and they will be absorbed into ND's sea of Blue, Gold, Green, Yellow, White, Gray and whatever color 2022's, THE SHIRT ends up being.

Unfortunately they know exactly where Soldier Field is, they've owned it for 25 years.

I would bet 95% of Packer fans who have been to a game in Green Bay have also attended one in Soldier Field. Team knows, but no so sure about the fan base.

We're 11.5 point dogs to Georgia? That feels rather aggressive.

I was thinking 10-14 since it's at UGA.
What did you think it was going to be?

I don’t know, a touchdown? They lose a lot of talent, and we don’t suck. Just saying I’d probably take ND with that line.

The Michigan line is weird to me. We are coming off of a bye and they are coming off a road game at Penn State which you would assume is a night game there too.

Michigan is also a 6.5 point favorite against OSU. I guess Vegas really likes Michigan for some reason.

UGA lost some too, but they return a bit (2) more than we do (7 on O, 8 on D vs ND 7/6). They started 11 kids last year that were underclassmen, and brought on their third straight top 3 class. We lost the entire middle of our front 7, and our best DB on D. Our best WR and RB on O.

if I had to guess, the odds gods likely think we'll get exploited by the UGA rushing attack (Swift should be a beast again), and their D will be better than last year. Fromm took a nice step forward last year (30/6), and should improve more in 2019. He lost a lot of his receiver production (3 WRs, TE) but has plenty of talent (including two 5 star true frosh WRs). IMO, UGA will have arguably the most talent they've had at WR in a while (even though they are young). They have plenty of talent at RB to fill the empty #2 slot open from RealDealJR's departure.

Yeah I'm with you YJ, not surprised by -11.5 at all.

Whatever TX did at the end of the year in the bowl game, I hope we study it well lol. We'll be their first big game, but they do start the season with a conf game (Vandy). I hope they are early enough on the schedule that Fromm hasn't gelled with his new WR core all that much. I just hope the new middle of our front 7 has gelled enough to slow Swift a bit.

I wonder if part of is just the fan base who's betting on the team. scUM fans are total slappies and buy into the "this is our year" rhetoric, so I could see Vegas trying to troll them for bets.

Could be over thinking it. Just a thought.

Hard to even predict when we are this far out but I would also be shocked if ND got blown out. I could see a tight game until the final quarter.

Anything less would be a total disappointment.
