according to Hansen's story in today's SBT ND is no longer pursuing Eric Kumah (Va Tech transfer) because they are happy with the WR corps, especially Keys, Lenzy and Wilkins.

TBH, this is one of the best pieces of info we've received this spring. We routinely brought guys in that I didn't think were worth the roster spot, which meant our young guys were not impressing in years past.

The fact the coaches feel confident enough in our young guys gives me hope for this fall.

Agreed here, the fact that we are already up against the roster limit, bringing in a grad transfer at a position that has a seemingly crowded depth chart full of young talent would have been a red flag in my eyes.

Excited to see these youngsters in action down the field on April 13.

I have Comcast, and they already include streaming capability of the ACCN. So while it might not be a full on channel, Comcast customers already can stream games via cable box (like Netflix and Amazon)

Pretty good article here from Adam Rittenberg over at ESPN.

Sounds like the boys are mighty motivated after the Cotton Bowl. Loved the quotes by Finke in the article.

Also sounds like the staff is really working Book on staying tough in the pocket, finding the TEs in the seam and working on other deep-middle routes. Essentially working with him to read the defense and throw to a spot, trusting his play makers.

.... and Book was already pretty good at that (tough in pocket and throwing to a spot.) This probably means mainly focusing on tight middle throws vs angle and sideline throws. He's so accurate when he clearly sees the situation, he probably prefers the mini-window sideline or slant throw to the I got to trust my guy to be there throw. (which seems natural, especially in a first time suddenly starter role of last season.)

Ian is, as usual for me, my last item to worry about --- tied with DLine and DBacks. I actually worry very little about this team --- if we're good enough to beat Michigan, we will have a very happy season.

This is where I'm at. If we're good enough to beat up on Michigan in the Big House, we should be good enough to make the Athens trip entertaining for 4 quarters and to smoke USC at home. If we're good enough to do that, we should have a fun season.

We go to Georgia first, then home vs SC, then @ scUM
@ Georgia-9/21/19
Home- USC- 10/12/19
@ scUM- 10/26/19

I'm aware, I was saying that if this team is good enough to beat UM at home, the other outcomes should also occur. It's kind of backwards but that was my logic.

I imagine the attitude and commitment are ratcheted up from last year. There are a lot of things that happened last year to prove to these guys that if they believe and stay the process, good things will happen.

Finke and Book said it best. Essentially, last year, the standards were pretty high...and it still wasn't enough. They both said last year's standards is the floor for this year, and they need to raise them even higher to make that leap.

Okwara sounding mighty confident too, even said 12-0 lol. One game at a time big guy, but I'm excited to see him go out and try to prove it. Expecting a monster year from 42.

Finke might be my favorite player on this ND team. I never would have guessed that. If there's one player I want to stay healthy, be effective, and get a NFL gig, it's him.

Hasn't Finke been everybody's favorite player since he got Tom Haverford permabanned?

Koon, are you growing up? I thought players had to be part of the bod squad to get your seal of approval? Is Finke an honorary member? I can only guess that he's going to start the season with a torn ACL now.

I just randomly found this this morning and hadn't seen it before. It's a really cool look at our S&C program. That hip press looks like a bitch.

Irishnuke posted it in the Wrestling thread back in November, but yeah probably should have gone here too. Very cool look into the program, and I have some respect for Sheamus now.

Nice photo spread in this week's Sports Illustrated of the ND spring game. Also, for the old guys, a picture of John Pleick in a story about a vagabond hoops team in the 70's. Pleick who played on the Austin Carr teams, looks like he should be riding a Harley.

https://247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/Whos-Next-Notre-Dame-And-The-2020-NFL-Draft-131607456/

This was a really good article but it's startling how much talent will be going to the NFL next season.

Two things immediately come to mind:

1. We really need to win a natty this year.

2. Our team better be good enough to blow out teams so we can get a lot of minutes for our young guys.

We could see 7-9 guys drafted next year, compared to 5 this past year. That would be the highest # of draftees under Kelly and would be competing for most from any school in that draft class.

Wow, my expectations are slowly growing for the season. Keep that koolaid away.

7-9 sounds awfully high. Claypool Pride Okawara and Kareem. Anyone else is a stretch.

Hayes, Gilman, Elliott, Finke, Book were the others listed as possibilities with strong senior seasons. I fully expect Gilman to have a strong senior season, but with a good year for the rest of them, they could get drafted. Not saying that they will or even that it could be high, but they could be a 6th round pick.

Sidenote: of the article's top 4 prospects, I could see Okwara, Kareem, or Pride all being 1st round picks. Okwara has the best shot, but Kareem is a very good D lineman and they always have a chance. Pride is going to wreck the combine, which is always important for good corners (sorry Love).

guys on the oline, Gillman, Kmet could leave early if he has great year ,Book

I could see Kmet if he's productive, he projects well at his position for what the NFL is looking for. Gilman's a great player, but he won't get drafted if he runs below 4.6, and he probably will, look at what happened to Love. If Book gets drafted it'll mean we had a great year, could happen but not likely.

None of the OLM are anywhere's close now. Banks is a possible but OLM always benefit from those extra years. (Unless they tear their ACL like Bars).

I've heard Gilman leaving is a done deal barring injury or a total drop off. He's essentially going into his 5th year now because of the Navy prep school.

All four of the returning OLinemen are "close" now.

Watch.

Not a stretch, I mean no more than saying Boykin would be drafted last year at this time. Or even Alize given his production. Or Tranquil given his prior injuries.

There is a lot of talent, there are a number of players that we expect to 1st - 3rd rounders and then those who can work their way in with a productive year.

Kmet, Gilman, Elliot, Book are all capable of hearing their names called next April. We'll see how much each of them elevates their game this fall. And maybe we'll have a surprise or two.
