Elston has been rumored to CMU job. My guess is he has taken it, and thats what Jayes tweet is about.

Oh. Hoke to ND makes much more sense, in that case.

Also, Zaire put out a similar tweet to hayes. And it sounds like Matt LaFleur could possibly be joining staff in Atlanta.

I dont see either as major loses.

So we will probably lose Ellston, Cooks and LaFluer?

Will be interesting on who fills the roles. We gotta get Quinn.

LaFleur’s brother, Mike, took a job as an offensive assistant with the Atlanta Falcons yesterday.

Kelly did a couple of radio spots earlier. He said, "there's no QB coach vacancy, atm."

Meaning, Lafleur not going, not gone yet, or gone and position already filled.

Lol, guess we'll find out sometime soon.

I'd

- Move Booker to safety, his natural position...

- Hire Quinn as ST/Blocking TE coach (Denbrock covers them as WRs)

- Hire a LB coach.

Now Brian Kelly can get to recruiting coaches.
On Wednesday, a source told Irish Illustrated that quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur is expected to leave the program for a job with the Atlanta Falcons, returning to the NFL after just one season in South Bend.
With the Falcons, LaFleur will work with his brother Mike LaFleur, just hired to the Atlanta staff. The move would also reunite LaFleur with Kyle Shanahan, the Falcons’ incoming offensive coordinator. LaFleur served as quarterbacks coach under Shanahan with the Washington Redskins from 2010-13.
Kelly will address the media on Wednesday afternoon at 3:15 p.m.
A LaFleur departure would open the door for Jeff Quinn to again work with Kelly as the two have more than 20 years experience together, dating back to Grand Valley State.
Quinn left Cincinnati for the head coaching position at Buffalo at the same time Kelly moved to Notre Dame. Quinn was Kelly’s first choice as offensive coordinator here, a post that’s been held by three different coaches in the past five seasons: Charley Molnar, Chuck Martin and now Mike Denbrock.
Quinn was fired by Buffalo last October after a 20-36 record and just one winning season in five years.
LaFleur would be the second assistant coach to leave Notre Dame this off-season following defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks for Oklahoma. Cooks had been on staff under Kelly all five seasons in South Bend, coaching outside linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties. He also served as co-defensive coordinator until Brian VanGorder arrived last off-season.

This would be awesome if we got Quinn imo. I know some disagree but, I think the offense would be incredible with them paired up again!

Some would disagree with that? Quinn would be GREAT as a position coach or as a Denbrock- or Martin-type, "offense manager" OC.

He would not bring any new wrinkles to the offense or anything--Kelly wouldn't hire anyone who would--but it's clear from the time they coached together in the past that Quinn is just the type of assistant coach Kelly wants and needs. Kelly has said that he likes to coach the assistant coaches, who then coach the players. In other words, he needs assistant coaches he can trust to relay HIS message, not formulate their own. Quinn made his name doing that for Kelly. He's like the king of that.

It's probably in the recruiting thread, but in the presser Kelly said we may have more than 1 transfer into the program after NSD.

With Alford gone, we have to get after VA, NC, SC, and some of GA. The midwest is now OSU's, and they just got a big boost in Florida.

Not that Meyer himself wasn't enough.
