I really like to let Hendrix go elsewhere but QB depth is just too thin.

QB: Golson | Zaire | Hendrix | Kizer

As for Collinsworth, he's expendable but good, experienced depth isn't there yet.

S: Redfield | Baratti | Farley
S: Shumate | Collinsworth | Hendrix?

But if there are :s::s::s::s::s: studs out there, you gotta take the recruits I think.

Forgot Eilar Hardy

I'd say:
S: Redfield | Baratti | Farley
S: Shumate | Hardy | Hendrix?

Farley, possibly Hardy as well, can play both positions so there is quality depth.

I agree with the bolded. I'd like to bring Collinsworth back as an experienced veteran, but at the same time he's a guy we can afford to lose if we run out of room.

I see what you're saying but I think it would be more beneficial to the program to have Zaire in there. Hendrix was beyond frustrating this year. It's a waste and a roadblock to progress if we bring back Hendrix.

...that's why I have Zaire as the #2 guy. haha

Hendrix would be back to prevent Kizer from having to play.

Call me crazy, but a true Freshman (Kizer) could probably run the offense better than senior Hendrix did this season.

No reason for him to be back.
If all three qb's go down, then they can just run the wildcat with Folston and Cam.
They aren't going to score anyway.

I know a wave of injuries can change this, but is our QB situation really that uncommon/ill-advised? The reason I ask is that with Barnett on board, even if we have to push Kizer into action, there's no reason to believe it necessarily impacts us in future seasons.

I root for all our guys and really wanted Hendrix to turn it on this year, but he hasn't shown me any more than a freshman could provide to this point.

So we'd be looking at this:

QB: Golson | Zaire | Kizer

S: Redfield | Baratti | Farley
S: Shumate | Hardy | Hendrix

I could probably live with that.

Buster is saying that Hendrix (QB) would be there for leadership and for some terrible luck we wouldn't burn Kizers red shirt as well as mot good to only have 3 Qbs.

Kelly: 'You can't start winning until you stop losing'

Kelly: 'You can't start winning until you stop losing'
Brian Kelly joined The Seth Davis Show recently to talk about how him and his staff went about changing the culture at Notre Dame and ended up sharing some really interesting thoughts on coaching, life and (of course) football.

The show opens up with Davis asking Kelly about the uniqueness of the Notre Dame job because of the rich history and always having to live up to expectations based on past accomplishments, and evolves into the changing landscape of college football and why he has decided to emphasize the little things like how each player arranges his locker the same.

When it comes to recruiting, Kelly talks about how some of Notre Dame's distinctions keep them from spinning their wheels because they're able to tell recruits that when you consider coming to ND, you're "shopping in a different aisle" compared to other program's.

Really well done, candid interview here with an excellent head coach who knows a thing or two about turning things around. This will be the best 15 minutes you take for yourself today.

not really sure how much leadership Hendrix could provide, hes hardly got that crafty veteran like presence, he still plays like a freshman

Kelly said FSU had a problem beating less talented teams.

Wow like he has much room to talk in that dept.

I like Martin a lot better than Molnar, but of the major coaches on our staff he's probably the one we could best live without.
As long as he doesn't take Heistand or Alford with him.

Collinsworth's the type of kid - experienced, good locker room guy, smart if not super-talented - that we always keep for a fifth year. And it's not like he'll be drafted.
Will be quite surprised if he's not back.

Play calling got much better as the season went on. A couple months ago I would've welcomed this, now I'm very conflicted. He's been busting his hump recruiting recently too.

I'm skeptical he makes a move because as I understand it he is basically head coach in waiting at ND.

Really? How long does he plan on waiting? Might he be better off waiting as a head in the MAC?

???

"Play calling got much better"?

Not from the GameDay Tread posts, Post Game posts, media reports, or stats.

Only 6 teams scored LESS Rushing TDs than ND.

"busting his hump recruiting ... RECENTLY" (emphasis added)

Was it just added to his job description?

That's a basic requirement from any assistant.

"head coach in waiting ... At ND"

That makes sense based on his accomplishments at other FBS schools. Remind me again what his W/L record is at other FBS schools.

NOTRE DAME IS NO PLACE FOR ON THE JOB TRAINING!

Was your source Monk, Beauchamp, or Dr. White?

I'm sure there's a better thread for this somewhere, but I'm on my phone and the search feature is cumbersome in this app. Anyway...
