Melisandre - Exciled from Winterfell, last seen riding south. Will she intercept Sansa?

You mean Arya?

It would make sense that Melisandre ends up with the Brotherhood and the Hound. How does Gendry play into it? Does Arya join them, or does she need to remain "Lone Wolf" to take full advantage of her Faceless Badassery?

Arya Stark - Just punked out the entire Frey family like a boss. Currently on her own on the way to King's Landing. May either bed or kill Ed Sheeran.

This is actually funny wording, because the whole reason he's in the show is because Maise Williams is a super fan. It would be great fun for the writers/directors to force Williams to "kill" her real-life crush, after surprising her with his presence during filming.

Jorah Mormont - In a cell in the Citadel. With his greystone burned off his arm and asking Samuel if Dany has landed yet. Did they cure him?

Was it burned off? I thought it looked worse, like there was more stone, plus some blood.

This would lend some credence to the theory that the show is merging Jorah and Victarion.

Now, if you want to bring in completely unknown characters (maybe even characters not part of the book arc) into the fold in efforts to make some outside alliance to prove a point, is that really being "pragmatic"? There's no doubt that if they actually tried to pull something like that off, you guys would rip them apart for forcing a storyline or reaching.

Pretty sure I wouldn't. It makes way more sense to explain what just happened to one of the largest armies and the most profitable lands in Westeros than it is to just ignore it. Especially since, again, a member of the main branch is alive and making alliances wth Dorne. You can keep saying she's old like that makes a difference, but she's a main branch Tyrell and she's pissed and in charge of a major force. Hell even Jaime and Cersei discussed the Tyrells as the enemy to the east in the map room scene.

I think the most likely to make sense answer is that the Tyrells have officially joined up with Dany off screen. That explains what they are doing and why the island was unoccupied at the same time. Though it still weird to me that the entire castle was just sitting empty. I don't know why Dorne would join with a Targaryen given their unconquered by dragons status. Maybe it's the female leaders all getting along?

I don't know why Dorne would join with a Targaryen

Do what now?

Isn't it because they used to be tight? Via Rheagar and Ellaria?

Even though Rheagar ended up in love with Lyanna, the houses were still joined before the Rebellion. And I thought Doran was back-channeling a deal to join the Martells with the Targs in the books, before the show kind of changed that?

I'll take your word for it that this is in the show. Honestly it's impossible to keep up with Dorne' s history or motivations in the show. It's had so many drastic changes to it's backstory and plot.

I did, good catch. I could see Arya meeting them (although, geographically they aren't that close to eachother currently and heading in different directions).

It was kind of a joke, but not a joke. She looks over at their swords and if things go bad... well....

It may be advanced Grayscale, or it might be burnt. I'm referring to a theory that is out there on this.

idk it's all convoluted, but the moral is that the Martells and the Targs used to be tight, since Rhaegar married Elia, rather than Cersei.

Also, the families are distantly related to begin with.

I know I won't be seen as a cool kid, but I enjoyed episode 1... Sam can go red weddinged for all I care and wish they wouldn't spend so much time for him... However, the ending left me pumped and can't wait for next week's episode

Hate this if so. Basically zero foreshadowing of this. Up until this point she absolutely hated Cersei. What reason would she have to suddenly start admiring her?

I don't think she actually does, I think she's just using some of the lessons she learned from Cersei, and trying to balance that with not being evil.

That's hard when Littlefinger is whispering sweet-and-sour nothings into your ear, so she's got her battle hairdo ready to go. She's channeling lessons from Cersei, to prepare to defeat Cersei, while simultaneously stiff-arming Beylish.

The tension with Jon will probably build, as she is now in a position (surrounded by allies and at the right hand of her brother, a king) to try and affect change. She's seen horrible things, and will push back against Jon to try and keep the "southern issues" in mind, but ultimately I bet the resolution is that she defeats Littlefinger somehow, and falls in line with the REAL battle and Jon's lead.

Well said. The reality is that Sansa went to Kings Landing as a little girl. At that point, she was enamored with the lifestyle and wanted to be queen one day. All she knows of leaders are the Lannisters, the Boltons and her father. The latter got his head cut off because of his "honor". So I definitely see how in the back of her head she thinks you lead by fear and destroying your enemies. Even though she still loves and trusts Jon, she also has her own beliefs on leading. Those beliefs, like everyone's, are developed through her life experiences.

Definitely one of the most important dynamics going forward. It will be especially interesting when she finds out that he is a Targaryan.

Don't act like y'all aren't secretly happy that Sansa = Cersei. I know everyone's been shipping Jon and Sansa from day 1

If you read the whole thing, they address this. He wargs into the red head.

You talking about the reddit thread? Cuz sure, they give that explanation, but they give a lot of other theories too. I'm just pointing out that it's something they would need to address. If they didn't, Wiz would be on here telling us how terrible the show is for not explaining this. Furthermore, there are sooooo many little items in the books that are breadcrumbs for explanations they can't do in a show that have caused issues like this. I know they are free balling since they're past the books, but that's tough to pull off. So it would be a pretty conveluted item to explain in the episodes they have left.

Everyone also caught the picture of the dragon bone, Valyrian Steel dagger that was used in the attempt on Bran's life, right?

Coincidence planted by the writers, or is there some unfinished business with that dagger?

actor who played sam said directors told him to pause on that page during filming...it will be important, also theres a magazine cover with arya (m Williams) which shows the dagger on her. arya will probabaly kill Littlefinger or someone else on her list with that dagger at some point. (or, did she use it on walder frey throat last season maybe?)

Oh fuck are they back already? Can we just kill them all somehow?

Their only redeeming quality in the show was the young ones rack.

My speculation is that Cerseis prophecy will come true. The Valonqar (Jaime) will kill her at some point. HOWEVER, it will be Arya disguised as Jaime. <--- Read it here first.

PS: /r/freefolk/ has the goodies for atleast the first 4 episodes, and a lot more, if you are interested in that sort of thing.

I could see that.

I go back and forth on whether I want to read the spoilers or not. I read them for last week and they pretty much hit on everything, but I still enjoyed watching it unfold.

Getting four episodes all at once might be too much for me though.

Jaime isn't on her list, though... Otherwise I'd be onboard. Could definitely still happen.

Live commentary, for the lulz and to piss off Wooly:

- Sand Snakes episode, so naturally we get the "Nudity" and "Strong Sexual Content" warnings. HBO gonna HBO. EDIT: Never mind, I guess it's eunuch sex.

- Why the hell is Dany turning on Varys like this all of a sudden? Oh, because they needed to set up this dramatic bit of dialogue.

- Princess who was promised theory confirmed. So stupid, but I blame GRRM for this one.

- Is Sansa technically still married to Tyrion?

- Randyll Tarly is a grade-A badass.

- That crossbow is VERY "The Hobbit."

- When did Tyrion have time to have an Unsullied figurine cast?

- Emelia Clarke is extra gorgeous tonight.

- Sam is writing the song of ice and fire confirmed.

- Arya learning that Jon is King in the North was the most excited I've been watching this show in years.

- Lady Sansa needs to learn when to keep her damn mouth shut.

- Littlefinger schemey face hype.

- A wild direwolf appears.

- Has the show completely abandoned the idea of warging all together?

- "A foreign invasion is underway" is the new worst line in the series.

- HOLY SHIT Euron's flagship is doooooope.

- I bet dragons would be pretty useful in this battle.

Interesting that the first thirty minutes of a show in a shortened season was dedicated to discussing the Tyrell bannermen and army and their importance. I was told they were done.

Good episode. This has the makings to be a strong season. This ship battle was the first time the budget felt tv showy to me. Only showing one ship in Eurons fleet was an obvious $$$ issue. But hey you have the budget you have.

Another thing I don't like about Tapatalk, hard to add quotes.

- The rest of us like boobs. This is a "you problem"

- PTWP is the entire point of the SOIAF, dummy

- I believe so

- Indeed

- Your lower body is very "the hobbit"

- *Like*

- What will be interesting is if her experience with her dire wolf makes her turn around. But I found it interesting that there were so many theories of how she would find out and none were correct. Who would have thought that she would hear the news from the show's version of a 14 year old Wiz.

- she makes me cringe

- as does he

- bigger than hell too

- they didn't even show Bran and they showed a warg last episode. Relax

- must I remind you of "bad pussy"?

- Euron is general is pretty dope.

- Well, he probably wouldn't have attacked if that was the case. He would have headed back, told Cersei and they would have brought out your hobbit gun

I'm pretty sure this is your version of saying you liked the episode, no? Ha
