The Jamie-Brienne sex scene was pure HBO. In the books he's intent on taking his vows seriously (including his vow of celibacy as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard). His coming to love Brienne, who is the polar opposite of Cersei, is a key part of his redemption arc. But it has to remain a chaste courtly love.

No room for such tragedy or nuance here, though. Sex is the only meaningful sort of relationship, so they've got to jump int the sack together.

To me it read, "Which woman have we not posed nude yet in the show? Brienne? Okay, book it for S8E4."

So many meaningless scenes in these episodes. When I first heard they were going to be nearing cinema length, I was very excited. But there is just too much lazy filler thrown in.

Last week I was pretty adamant about calling the show what it is, "Entertainment." But for me personally, they're flirting with "This is old, wrap it up already" feelings.

How has no one mentioned Dany's pumpkin spice latte yet?

At any point will Jon sack up to Dany? She's becoming a power hungry monster like her Father and Jon just continues to gravel at her feet.

She's also annoying and over plays her hand, and would have no shot if it weren't for excellent advisers and unmatched dragons.

Yet every interaction with anyone not-named-Jon starts and ends with a smug smile, and a "look at what I'm providing for you" tone.

Cannot stand her.

That's a fall drink.

Clearly that's a Peppermint Mocha.

The Dragon Queen is not bound by such seasonal conventions. And Peppermint Mocha isn't "basic white bitch" enough for my joke. So FOH, bro.

They banged on the boat from Dragonstone. Doubt it'll happen again now that Jon knows she's his aunt.

Easily matched, apparently. Just need a big arrow. Dragonscales are made of paper.

Right, but she still has 1. And even so, up to this point she's been riding the coat tails of advisers + dragons, and no merit. Even if the loss of the 2nd dragon exposes her, it came late IMO.

I'm daydreaming of a ~2 minute scene where Jon calls her out on "in what ways other than threat or fear have you lead? How are you fit to lead a nation if you didn't have Tyrion and dragon(s)?"

So far Lord Vary's is the only one with balls. Go figure.

Was there any real mention of Theon or Jorah in terms of recognition or morning from the surviving charters??

Theon got some screen time as a dead body on the unlit funeral pyre, and got some tears from Sansa as she put a Direwolf pin/sigil on him. I actually thought it was a cool moment of closure, where she reinforced Bran's comments that everything he had done had brought him back to Winterfell with the remaining Starks... his true home and family.

Jorah got some screen time, as well as some words from Tyrion to Dany about him.

TIL Whiskey put me on ignore for my outlandish defense of "The Long Night"

If the punchline isn't in the tweet itself, just skip the embedding and post the pic directly. Rookie move.

Opening scene: Dany cries over Jorah's body. Sansa cries over Theon's. Jon gives a speech, and then they light a huge number of mass pyres that would have taken weeks to build.

Couldn't find a screenshot showing all of them, but here's a glimpse:

There's probably 50 of them.

Someone rep this man on my behalf, as I must spread it around first

but I can't do that because none of you are worthy.

Interesting... so Bran just stared off somewhere??

Tyrion tries to engage with him at the celebratory feast, and he replies like a creepy exposition bot. Bran's whole purpose--surviving the fall, traveling north of the Wall, becoming the new 3ER, etc.--was apparently just to tell Jon that he's a Targaryen and to hand Arya a dagger.

Bran told Sansa and Arya about Jon's parentage (at his request) off screen. That's it.

Thinking back it's actually shitty that they didn't show us Sansa and Arya's reaction to that. Good opportunity to showcase their acting skillz.

Makes the sacrifices of those like Hodor, Theon and others feel oh so satisfying...

The whole dynamic is odd for me. Gave up on the show fairly early in all... up to date with the books but didn't really enjoy the last two very much... but I'm still curious to know how the show ties it up and such with characters I know well. See what if any opportunities were taken and which ones were completely ignored in this story. I hope the loyal show viewers don't mind me continuing to ask questions and or provide my base thoughts, if it's unwanted i'll refrain.

I thought 'A Feast for Crows' was an absolute slog the first time I read it... it was like the whole book you're just waiting in anticipation for something to happen. That might have been because I was reading it just before 'Dance with Dragons' got released, so I was waiting with anticipation for the new content.

'Dance with Dragons' was much better on the first read, by comparison. Much more action, at least with the primary characters.

'A Feast for Crows' got A LOT better the second time I read it. I think maybe because my pace and my patience weren't being tested by ADwD hanging right there. I enjoyed the Pod and Brienne stuff a lot more, as well as Sansa's story in the Vale. It's GRRM at his best in terms of political intrigue, but is also GRRM at his worst in terms of growing the narrative too large, IMO. The book also has the most intriguing prologue of the series, probably.

I agree for certain... have stated so a few times here... we will see. I may jump back in if the series ever gets completed.

I’ve liked her less and less since she stopped getting naked.

I might get killed for this but...
What about her makes you think she isn't like most women in that she looks to the powerful presence for acceptance? Her character started with that douche bag of a brother giving her advice and went to a living (human) killing machine., then birthing odd creatures....
I'm not sure you are understanding the human dynamic in the show...

So what age was his parents? That would be an amazing set..

Yea they'll spend 20 minutes on the feast but won't spend 5 minutes on Sansa/Arya's response to the news of who Jon really is. Unbelievably lazy writing.
