Its pretty damned obvious where he got it.

Its an assumption. Maybe a good assumption, but just an assumption all the same. I mean we just had an outbreak on the football team and, at least in the past, I remember Jenkins often being in the locker room and on the sidelines. Its not impossible that he got caught up in the football outbreak. Like someone said, maybe it was Jenkins bringing it from campus that spread it to others at the WH event.

Father Jenkins spotted in this video as it becomes more and more likely that this was the super spreader incident. Zero people giving a single shit about social distancing or other protocols.

but apparently all attendee's were tested before the event to make sure only folks with negative results were admitted? Or was this just a lie?

My understanding is you can still pass on the virus before testing positive because you only test positive once you're shedding a certain threshold of it. Most the time, testing negative is enough, but super spreaders for whatever reason can pass this so much more efficiently than the regular COVID patient.

Also the white house uses the Abbott ID Now device for ease and rapid results which is not the most accurate. The hospital I work at refused to purchase these machines because they are not accurate enough. It only takes one false negative to create a super spreader event.

The Cepheid is what my hospital uses. Proved much more accurate.

Everyone was tested before the team meal too. The problem, from my understanding, is that there is a period of time where you can "test negative" but still have the virus and be spreading it.

I can confirm that Father Jenkins has never had an abortion.
Just wanted to say that I was at that ND game in East Lansing and had a blast. That play was epic even from the opposite side of the field where I was only slightly sure LJ hadn’t scored. Good times... anyways carry on

At minimum, any kids punished need a full pardon immediately.

Thing is going to spread - its what viruses do. Saying they all would have been "safe" with masks is a bit simplistic, IMO. If anything, shows relying on testing to feel safe is a fools errand.

The Irony here is that mask wearing by leadership could have and does help stop the spread. Science backs it up. Politicizing got in the way and mirrors what the tone of the country has been by a lot of hardcore's.
Don't take my "rights" away, to it's a hoax, to masks aren't comfortable are the excuses
It's inexcusable and negligible.

People behaving like that don't deserve to be in any position of leadership.

Everyone that's not a complete spoon has known you don't get together, without masks, and start huggin on people that just flew in from around the country.

Anyone defending the behavior is a doofus.

Apparently Notre Dame has a web portal for students to snitch on other students not following the rules... and the students are spamming it to “report” Jenkins LMAO. Just completely flooding the system with “off campus incident reports” naming Jenkins as the culprit.

That’s pretty funny.

What if Jenkins is the one who infected Trump...

I honestly believe that there is a good chance Father Jenkins is the source of this. He's coming from a recent cluster, and he was spotted maskless at the USF game. What one does in a public venue is generally better than what one does in private, so I would have to assume that he's frequently maskless during his day-to-day interactions.

I like Father Jenkins, I think he's done a great job balancing the demands of strict Catholicism and the expectations of secular modern life. That being said, I think he has shown a significant failure of leadership in this case. Understandably, people were lulled into a false sense of security with the rapid test (which is only about 80% accurate) but leadership is about setting the example for all others -- especially taking optics into account.

SonofOahu,

If Jenkins has done such a great job at Catholicism, why do none of the kids I know who went to ND practice their faith.
Their whole agenda is about social justice. I feel ND follows the same socialist indoctrination as most universities today. I follow ND football today like I follow any pro team and because ND is still Our Lady’s University, not for it being a good example of a Catholic institution.

Whether Jenkins was the source or not, he'll be the mule in Dan Brown's next book.

ND's a microcosm of the Catholic Church in America. Everything about the latter, both good and bad, you can find in concentrated doses on campus. To the extent both have sold off the prophetic distinctiveness of the faith, it was for prestige and material success. Tale as old as time. But you exaggerate the extent to which ND has apostatized.

This is going to blow your mind, but ND and Catholicism have always been about social justice.

Rakes Report went political - at least gave caveat to stop reading when he went there. Found this link interesting -
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/projects/college-mobility/notre-dame

Have to go all the way to the bottom to see ND has been in same economic boat for the most part for the last 4 decades. Economic diversity is the diversity that needs attention.

That's depressing. Most of our political problems right now boil down to rich people making shitty decisions and no one in power being willing to hold them accountable. And ND is no different apparently. I'd love to hear Jenkins address these stats regarding how the University's mission is served by catering only to the very rich.
