Awful story -- I had to call 911 last night because the newlyweds that just moved in above me were drunk and arguing and the wife stabbed the husband in the arm with a steak knife.

Well they sound pleasant.

Also anyone who is that crazy is also likely crazy enough to blame you for any repercussions from this. Hope that doesn't happen. Good luck, man.

Buy them plastic cutlery as a late wedding present. It may save you some anxiety later.

Funny story:

I'm sitting in a continuing education class and the topic for this session is negotiation skills.

The speaker auctions off 25 bucks. Bidding started at $2 and went up in $2 increments. The catch is that whoevr made the second highest bid had to pay him whatever amount they bid.

A bunch of idiots bid more than $2 (which is the only bid worth making) and after a couple imbeciles bid it up over 25 bucks a girl finally gives up and owes 28 bucks to the speaker. The speaker asks what charity she wants the money to go to and she says "Planned Parenthood." A bunch of girls start clapping and all I wanted to do was laugh at the irony.

$24 is the optimal bid.

$24 is the optimal bid.

You could only bid in $2 increments as I stated in the OP. So after $2, every person who was in second had an incentive to bid again to avoid losing their money. Theoretically the bidding could get up to $24 and stop there but the person who bid $22 didn't want to pay that so he bid $26. Then the person who bid $24 bid $28. By this time they realized how dumb they were.

Planned Parenthood has received 50,000 donations in Pence’s name (NY Daily News)

Planned Parenthood supporters are chipping in a pretty penny at the Vice President-elect’s ex-Pence.

The women’s health organization has received more than 50,000 individual donations in pro-life Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s name since the election, a rep from the nonprofit confirmed to the Daily News on Tuesday.

The donations in protest of the Republican’s longtime crusade to defund Planned Parenthood and restrict women’s access to abortion make up about a quarter of those gifted since Election Day.

Planned Parenthood has received more than 200,000 donations since Donald Trump won the presidency.

Um. Yes? Shouldn't they?

Fat guys pay more for McDonald's than skinny guys.

Notre Dame students pay more in tuition than Alabama students.

Rich people pay more in homeowners' insurance than poor people.

The fact is, women's healthcare is more expensive than men's healthcare. Therefore, women's health insurance should cost more than men's health insurance. If there's any inequality in that system, it's not the fault of doctors, insurance companies, or politicians. God made men and women different. Deal with it.

I believe under those "stats" they count a pregnancy test and an abortion as the same number of services.
Yes. If you go to Planned Parenthood to have an abortion, they'll take your blood pressure, test you for STDs, give you some pills, take a pregnancy test, and kill your baby. They count that as five services, only 20% of which is the abortion itself.

After months of controversy, Texas will require aborted fetuses to be cremated or buried (Washington Post)

After months of fierce opposition from abortion rights advocates and the medical community, Texas will require fetal remains to be cremated or buried instead of disposed in sanitary landfills.

On Monday, health officials finalized the new rules prohibiting hospitals, abortion clinics and other health care facilities from disposing of fetal remains — regardless of the period of gestation. The rules will take effect Dec. 19, according to state health officials, the Texas Tribune reported.

Texas Fetal Burial Proposal Would Add Thousands to the Cost of an Abortion (San Antonio Current)

A funeral services consumer advocacy group says a state proposal to require the cremation or burial of aborted fetuses could mean an approximate $2,000 increase to the cost of an abortion.

On July 1, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission quietly slipped a proposed rule into the Texas Register that would require fetal remains, whether as a result of an abortion or a miscarriage, to be buried or cremated instead of being disposed of in a sanitary landfill or incinerated.

Jim Bates, director of the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Texas, said in a letter of opposition submitted during a Thursday Department of State Health Services public hearing over the proposal that the average cost of basic funeral services is $2,000. "Therefore, the annual number of women — 48,000 of the 54,000 total abortions — whose abortions typically occur at 13 weeks, will then be forced to use the services of a funeral establishment and bring an additional $96 million in revenue to the Texas funeral business," Bates wrote.

A twelve week old fetus weighs a half ounce. The vast majority of abortions occur prior to that.

There has to be some kind of nuance we're missing because that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. My wife has had two early-term miscarriages and there's nothing to cremate or bury. It just... comes out. Apologies for the details, but you can't even really tell where the fetal tissue is at that stage. There's a lot of blood over several weeks and it's not even possible to tell when the actual fetus comes out.

Again, the state government has clarified that the women will not be paying the bill for the funerals/cremations. It is all up to the "health centers" providing the service. They were already paying to dispose of the remains. The difference is that they won't end up in a medical waste landfill.

No. It's idiotic. I'm as pro-life as it gets but this isn't even coherent.

If we can't get rid of abortion, then make it as inconvenient and cost prohibitive as possible.

Anything that irks the baby killers is a good step to me.

Expect Women's health and reproductive rights to ge Huuuuge in the upcoming Congress, and, of course, the Supreme Court, who already decided against Texas' restrictions on abortion clinics as an undue burden on minorities and low income groups.

Supreme Court Strikes Down Abortion Restrictions In Texas

As zelezo pointed out from my linked article in a prior post, the revised Texas bill shifted the funeral cost to the providers.

As for the prior Supreme Court decision, if abortion clinics were more widespread throughout the state, this funeral requirement may be argued on its own merits. Without expanding the availability of clinics, the funeral law is hampered by prior state decisions before the Court.

Sure, but it's not even physiologically possible and it would place an insane burden on every single couple that has an early miscarriage, which is way more common than abortion.

It's a state issue....as well it should be.

If we don't want you having abortions down here, then let CA allow them and the woman to incur the costs of travel and everything else.

And abortion is NOT a woman's issue.

Ahh did not see that it would also impact miscarriages.
