Fatal shooting at a church in Charleston SC. Units have been onscene for approx 50 mins and apparently they have reported 8 dead.

Hey guys. I have been taking some time off to concentrate on work and family matters but I wanted to hop on and drop and say a bit about this.
As of right now Senator Pinckney is the only name that has been officially released. It has been stated that in a few minutes the Police will release the rest of the nine names and the thought is that they will all be prominent black community members and I can't fathom the fallout especially with the perp still roaming.
Anyway. Take some time to read about the Mother Emanuel and you will gleam a bit of the importance to it in the Civil Rights movement as well as pre and post Civil War here in Charleston.
I had the pleasure of meeting Clementa once and also some of my friends attend this church. The community is speechless right now. Lots of shock. All around. Very sad day. Also I am not yet able to confirm this a random hate crime, as when the names of the dead come to life it will soon appear to be more than just a random act of violence.
If someone could embed this for me I would greatly appreciate. Its a video of Clementa and others at the church. Just a brief glimpse at the quality of human that was lost.

A report this morning is saying three survivors, one survivor was a five year old who reportedly played dead.
The individual was in the meeting with the group for over an hour before the shooting.
They have pictures and info on his car so hopefully he will be caught soon.
I believe that everyone will conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and I think the nation will see what truly makes charleston a special place.

What a sad day there in Charleston today with this shooting and today is the anniversary of the Charleston 9 firefighters killed in a furniture store. Prayers to the whole town.

Police Commish and Mayor are saying this is a hate crime and that it will most definitely meet the U.S. Attorney's office criteria as one. This allowing for the FBI to assist which is important considering this guy could be as far away as DC, Miami, Knoxville, Memphis, or Mobile.
Coroner will release identities as soon as positive confirmation and families can be notified.
The five year old was reportedly shot but survived and is being treated at MUSC.

If there was any doubt that this crime had something to do with them being black, the two patches on his jacket are the apartheid era flag of South Africa and the other is Rhodesia (also an apartheid state).

I know I shouldn't, but I can't help but think of the shitstorm the media will turn this into if this kid is taken alive or if certain political leanings are found out with this dipshit...
I really hope the entire community of Charleston can come together and help this church and the family members as much as possible. Having lost family to violence I know the more show of support the better, it's way too hard to try and handle something like this alone.

Pretty sure they just escalate the potential punishment to a higher level. Or in some cases the crime may go from "assault" to "aggravated assault." Something like that.
