Isn’t tonight the knock out round? Win or go home? Why does Bet365 have odds on a tie?
Soccer is always a three way market for betting. Team A wins, Team B wins, or tie. In knockout round games the "tie" is extras and penalties. You get better odds if you take the 90 minutes bet, but there is generally a "to advance/qualify" option for worse odds because you hit your bet if the team wins in extra time or pens. There is also double chance and draw no bets, too. Soccer has a lot of their own sort of quirky bets.
Great stuff, the USA are safe and through now.
I was holding off on saying this but now they are safe...you fellas who don't think that tackle was a red card are mad - that was a sickening tackle. What was he thinking. Red all day unless I have no idea what you can get a red card for. Also I would have red carded the Bosnian coach remonstrating like a child - horrible look for the game.
Everyone the last week (in America anyways) has been debating offsides, I actually think offsides makes sense, but the real flaw in soccer, in my opinion, the red card system. Way too steep a penalty (down a man the whole match, suspended the next match), for basically amounted to incidental contact. This creates a perverse incentive and it makes immediately obvious why soccer is a sport full of SGA's, if you flop around on the ground long enough and scream in pain you can get a red card if the ref can go to VAR and super slow mo the shit out of the play until it basically looks like the Rape of Nanking. If you're going to have such a terrible consequence there has to be some sort of demonstrable intentionality.
Don't even get me started on the absolute inconsistency of application. Messi straight up intentionally stomped on a dude's Achilles and didn't even get a yellow.
