Roughly speaking, the offensive player who touches the ball cannot be farther back (or I guess forward from his perspective) than the furthest back defender when the ball comes off the foot of the player who passed it.

I was holding off on saying this but now they are safe...you fellas who don't think that tackle was a red card are mad - that was a sickening tackle. What was he thinking. Red all day unless I have no idea what you can get a red card for. Also I would have red carded the Bosnian coach remonstrating like a child - horrible look for the game.
