Bayern lose to Hoffenheim, 4-1. Didn't watch it, so not sure what happened there.

It was utter demolition. Hoffenheim well deserved all 4 goals and could have had more.

No Lewandowski to start with. Hoffenheim had one plan.....Have their center forward make runs in btw two CBs and beat them with speed. They did. THe entire game. Bayern had no answer.

Yes, they did. No other way to put it.

Cannot drop three points at home when the title margins the last few years have been so thin.

COVID/Injuries have not helped, but no excuse to give up five and three sure penalties at home.

Hopefully Ruben Dias is the staunch right footed center back this club has been greatly missing since Kompany left. We need some steel back there badly. Counter attacking defense has been the achilles heel for this team for going on three + years now.

Primeira Liga defenders have not be kind to Manchester City in the past (i.e. Mangala), but his performances with the Portugal National team the last two years have been impressive.

I dont want to sound like Im talking shit becasue I am not and I have much respect for Pep and what MC have accomplished recently. But that team on the field looks a shade of years past. The back 4 is vey worrisome IMO. Seeing Sterling central and no Silva and no Aguero as well....looks very different.

I was more confused by them deeming the offense onside. I thought if any part of a players body that can score a goal (ie not your hands) is offsides when the ball is kicked, it is deemed offsides. The photos clearly show the Newcastle's player's head was past any Spurs player.

A little more confusion because there were about two other instances in the final 10 minutes that should have been looked at for handball in the box, but nothing.

Hate it for Spurs, even though I don't like Mourinho.

Yep - in my mind the head of Carroll was offsides. Didn't understand that call either.

Love the Spurs and I dislike Mourinho too...LOL

Seems like everyone has problems on and off the pitch, to a certain degree. There has yet to be a 0-0 draw in the Premier League. Goals are coming fast and furious. Maybe not at Sheffield.

I believe that it will be a two team race. I'll leave it at that as I am not supposed to talk about one of them.

Massive game today with Liverpool and Arsenal. The Arsenal fan base are very confident at the moment. Liverpool could be without Allsion and Thiago. Everton and Leicester have set the pace. Up to Jurgen and the boys to keep up. Should be interesting.

Agreed man, it is not talking $hit. Just more of stating the obvious.

Eric Garcia has one eye out the door, and is moving to Barca in the coming days (allegedly). He looks a great prospect, but is too small and too slow to play week in and week out at one the best clubs in the world. Barca seem to think different.

Mendy looked awful, and who knows what Pep will do moving forward with the LB position. Possibly play Cancelo at his unnatural position or give Zinchenko a few games.
Mendy was bought because of his crossing abilities and pace, but he is so easily exposed by good counter attacking teams his pros do not outweigh his cons at this time.

Ake looked fine, but he is still getting his feet wet in a new system with a new manager.

Walker has been a very good player for the club, but he was not very good yesterday either.

Lastly, the two biggest difference between this version of City's defense and the team that won back to back titles, and were arguably the greatest English club team ever is Kompany and Fernandinho.

1. Kompany was everything to this club. Captain, leader, coach on the field, just everything. They have not come close to replacing him, and may never replace him sadly.

2. Fernandinho is no longer young/quick enough to play CDM, and Rodri has been nowhere near good enough of a replacement for Fernandinho. Again Rodri is young and may get better, but he was exposed terribly yesterday by one of the best counter attacking teams in the world, and I'm finding it hard to believe it is going to get better quickly.

I am excited to see what Ruben Dias brings to the defense.

Arsenal have a 5 game stretch in league of Liverpool, Sheffield, City, Leicester, and ManU. Plus a cup game this week with Liverpool again on Thursday.

This will be the month we see how Arsenal's season goes. I think in the 5 league matches, finding a way to get between 7-10 points is vital. Theoretically, it wouldn't be the worst thing to come away with 5 points off 5 draws either.

Sheffield have yet to score a goal. You might be okay there.

As for the League Cup match with Liverpool, Klopp's utter disdain for the competition leads me to believe Arsenal will see a similar lineup to what he played vs Lincoln City, which would be fine with me and everyone else. Problem is the last time Liverpool did this vs Arsenal in a domestic cup tie, Liverpool rallied and won in PKs, keeping them in the stupid competition a little bit longer.

Yeah, I'm not one for the League Cup. I'd love to see Arsenal throw that game as well.

LMAO

Trololol. Another 3 points.

Ideal start to the season for me. POOL on top, Leeds looking fun, and City getting shitstomped at home by Brendan Rodgers.

Jota looked like a fine addition to the team today. Having him in good form may be vital to Pool's title hopes for the season. Hoping for deep domestic cup runs to get the squad players adequate match time.

Would love a Bayern-Pool UECL final this year. Suspecting these to be the two best teams in the world.

Liverpool look like they are are gonna be tough to beat. Thank god for Allison though...lol.

Lacazatte denied multiple times. Gotta be debilitating having Allison make those saves.

9 points from 3. Legggoooo!

Klopp givig the business to Roy Keane afterward in the post game intereview was classic.

Jota could have scored a hat trick in eight minutes.

Dominating and lopsided yet it was 2-1 for a long stretch. Trent Alexander Arnold was great, Mane might not be human, Salah was Salah and Bobby's work rate was exceptional yet again. I thought Keita did a very good job as well. Five straight starts seem to have him in a rhythm. Hendo, Thiago and Ox were not available for this match.

Klopp has them built to a pressing machine that is relentless as they come. It sucks that Jota scored his Anfield debut in front of no fans. This is a special team and they have played so many matches in front of no one. Ugh.

Martin Atkinson is referree this week vs Villa. Villa are 2/2 and have not been scored upon yet. Going to be another tough go, but Up the Mighty Reds.

I'm ok with the result, though I am disappointed VAR didn't look at the Jota goal. I'm not saying it should be disallowed for handball, but how do they not even look at it?

Laca needs to score there 1 on 1, and Auba needs to take that shot himself at around the 90th minute. Liverpool are the gold standard, and that's where we need to get to.

A player like Aouar from Lyon would be huge for Arsenal, but I think they still have a ways to go. Arteta needs time and players.

If nothing else, they have been way more organized under Arteta the three times Liverpool have played them (though one of the three was the Community Shield).

Sane out 3-4 weeks with an injury to the same knee he had operated on.

So, Bayern got that going for them...

Did Napoli not qualify?

ETA.... I see now they didnt finish in table high enough. They are always tough in CL. Just shocking not seeing them in the draw this year.

They were in Pot 5 with Arsenal and Spurs. LOL.

Glad they are not in it and glad Liverpool doesn't have to travel to Lazio either. I'd say Liverpool's group isn't as smooth as Citah's but isn't as tough as United's. I like the travel, too.

Rhian Brewster is expected to complete a £23.5m move to Sheffield United from Liverpool

Incredible business for a kid who has never really played in the Premier League.
