AS Roma get a 2 - 1 win at home. Solid. 19 yo Nicolo Zaniolo with both goals. We acquired him this summer from Inter when we sold Nainggolan. Hell of a pick up. This kid could be something special. Hes been playing very consistent since November, and so far in 2019 he has been killing. I just dont want to jinx him. And Im also worried Roma is going to be forced to cash out on him and sell him for 50m this summer.

PSG is probably the best side Ole has faced since taking over at Man United. They got 1 shot on goal.

PSG was without Neymar and Cavani at that.

I think United still has a ways to go to get back. At least they're beating the bottom half of the table now that Jose is gone. I'm sure they drop points somewhere between Liverpool and PSG had Jose still been in charge.

Issue they are now facing is they're Mourinho conditioned players who have been playing under Ole now for all this time. That seemed to catch up yesterday with Lingard and Rashford looking hamstringy.

The Liverpool trip to Old Trafford should be a good match. Liverpool getting a draw might not be the end of the world. City looks to be rolling now. Chelsea really laid down for them.

I like them. I was prepared to be disappointed based on how FC Cincy, the MLS, and Adidas were all like "this was a rushed process, please keep that in mind."

I know Adidas uses their template book for everybody, so the pattern isn't necessarily unique, but it's at least unique in MLS, and it looks good with the rich orange and blue.

I'll be preordering one when I get my "for fun" money on pay day.

(I also like their away kits, with some subtle white/off-white striping)

Just got my tickets to go see FCCinci vs Crew on the 23rd in Charleston. Super excited.

Does Chelsea sack Sarri or are they just waiting for Hazard to leave this summer and start rebuilding?

Chelsea not a very creative team. Just awful.

Doesn't feel all that long ago they were third and unbeaten up there with Liverpool and City.

Pool playing with a makeshift center back in Fabinho today. Glad they are playing the Bayern of today and not a few years back.

Chelsea have now run off Mourinho, Benitez, Conte and Sarri.

Those supporters have been conditioned to jump on their manager when in reality the club is toxic, from the owner down to their locker room.

Absolutely pathetic. Their owner and supporters deserve whatever failure comes their way.

It's starting to look like Alan Koch, while a good scout, motivator, and ambassador for Cincy, has a fatal flaw: He can't coach for shit when the opposition likes to press.

Also looking like an over-reliance on "have the back line send in a bunch of long balls, hope the defense misplays it, and hope the forwards get on the end of one."

Cincy played an impressive possession-based game last season, but that was because they had opposing USL sides wayyyy overmatched. In the playoffs, the Baby Bulls pressed them all game, and he didn't know how to have his team adjust.

Might be a rough opening stretch in Cincy, and will probably be a rough year in general if they don't add a decent offensive player during the Summer to get the ball to Lamah, Mattocks, and Adi.

I'll hold off on judging Koch until we see what comes of year two, when they've got another two windows to add MLS-caliber players.

Was a crazy scene yesterday with the keeper refusing to come off. Good day for City, won the final and Liverpool dropped more points. Although Laporte and Fernandinho going out hurt was not fun to see.

City having the greatest team ever assembled, it's amazing they're down a point this late in February. Maddening, really.

Injuries are piling up now. City has the depth to deal with those things. They've spent hundreds of millions on fullbacks alone.

Fixtures piling up now too, especially if you're still playing in the competitions. City still in Champions League and FA Cup.

I'd have to think for City and PSG in France, the domestic stuff isn't all that much fun for anyone. Those two clubs are shooting for Champions League now. They've won everything domestically they can win.

It's amazing how Liverpool's 8 point january lead has vanished into thin air.

We have the squad depth to compete on all four fronts, every single year. Extra fixtures are no nuisance, they are the hallmark of a club with a serious trophy-winning habit.

Oh yeah, winning trophies is a lot of fun btw. 4th league cup in six years yesterday, that was still fun. Not old yet. I hope you've been a liverpool fan for at least a couple decades, or else all this talk about trophies might be confusing you.

Oh shit, you brought up the fullbacks too. Yeah, pep really lucked out to be able to have 50 million pound valued beasts running up and down each flank. Our left back put on an absolute masterclass yesterday. If only he could develop players instead of relying on *checks notes* £1.5m signing, the 20 year old Ukranian attacking midfielder Zinchenko...

Liverpool have no more big road games left in the league. And only two more games against big clubs(I think Chelsea and Tottenham). The run in to the end looks manageable. Big weight of history on their shoulders. Hope to see them make it work. Would be a really magnificent accomplishment.

What confuses me how in August this was going to be another runaway, yet here we are.

City might want to win a Champions League, no? Not that English League Cups don't have a "we won the NFC West" feel and all, but I think their ambition would be to win Europe based on how they're going about it.

Brendan Rodgers is leaving Celtic immediately to take over Leicester.

Great opportunity, but it can't wait until summer?

They're going to have to be unflappable and find a lot of grit to get it done. They already look like they're running out of gas.

Remember the narrative in August. City were the champions and were going to run away from the field. Maybe Chelsea and United give them a run. Fast forward to now and Liverpool are a point ahead, Mourinho was sacked and Chelsea players won't come off the pitch.

It's a two team race, just not the two most people thought when the season started.

No inside dope but he’s tired of the board constantly holding back his signings I’m sure... Celtic really need a bexit from Scotland...

They're in the midst of a Treble.

Same guy who made his money with Liverpool and bailed on his wife for a younger second one. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

And a month ago, City looked like they were breaking. Liverpool had 1 win in their last 5 games or something like that. Just need a win or two and they should be back on track.

Not true, in August Liverpool had the 2nd best odds (4-1) to win the title. Most thought City and Liverpool would finish top 2.

Depends on the pundit. They were predicted anywhere from 2-5. City where defending champions and favorite. So somehow, Liverpool "bottling it" when they dropped points vs City, Leicester and West Ham in January seems rather revisionist. You don't win titles in August or January. Unless you're PSG or Bayern.

All we need know is while beating Chelsea 4-0 in a match they would win 6-0, City fans were singing about:

1. Klopp
2. Steven Gerrard
3. Liverpool

Same thing during an FA Cup match against Newport (?). Match kicks off, City fans start singing about Liverpool.

I had a soft spot for City since they won the title on the last day in 2012 vs QPR and kept United from winning another title, but if their supporters are going to be plastic nitwits like Chelsea, you've lost the plot.

2019 League form, Liverpool:

LWWDDWD 4 clean sheets.

Sunday was concerning because they looked nervous. You have to crank up the volume at Old Trafford. I'll be curious to see how City performs there and who is fit for United.

Kind of like how Liverpool were singing we're top of the league and city doesn't like it...back in september (maybe even august after the city/wolves draw?)

Also, anyone with half a clue knew it was going to be a City/Liverpool race. I really don't know what pundits you were listening to tbh.

And just for fun, trophies in the last eight years:

City - 10
Liverpool - lol...

Top of the League songs in September: funny
Songs about the guy managing Rangers when you're playing FA Cup matches in January and February: Cunty

I can appreciate City supporters, many of whom were Chelsea supporters five years ago, trying to create a rivalry. Manchester teams might also want to realize their unemployment rate is higher than Liverpool, so the poverty chants are pretty stupid, though expected I suppose.

City also has more UEFA FFP Investigations than Liverpool.

At least their owners aren't Russian.

I'd rather their owners were Russian. At least I could enjoy having a beverage with Roman.

It has to be frustrating as a City fan. No one looks at them as a rival and their coach is among the least interesting dudes maybe ever.

Roman is a knob. He goes through wives and managers like I change socks. He's rich, so it's okay, though. I get it. Keep him.

City's rivals to me are United and Chelsea. Full stop. They've taken over Manchester and are the big money team that Chelsea was during 2000-2009. Liverpool's rivals are Everton and United.

Chelsea fans love to sing Liverpool songs too whenever they'll playing Sheffield in the FA Cup or Brighton on a Tuesday. It's funny.

Luis Suarez made Brendan Rodgers. He signed Coutinho and Sturridge, Sterling came up under his watch, but that title challenge was Suarez. He's overrated and Leicester are going to find out.

Not frustrating at all, quite fun actually. Who gives a shit about how interesting a coach is?

Pep is uninteresting? Is this something people think? Because, speaking for myself, I am interested in the best soccer coach in the world.

I'm hoping for an exciting run-in. As a Liverpool fan I am just fine with where we are. First City had a little wobble, then we had a little wobble, and now here we atop the table by a point. But Liverpool's recent lack of attacking form is definitely worrying. I can't even really figure out what is broken in the attack. I'm hopeful it's just a momentary dip in form though.

B Rodge back in the Premier League with Leicester! It's a fascinating hire. I'd expect a sizable new manager bounce from this one.

It was not good. Crew's midfield made Cinci look silly all game. And I hate the style of play you alluded to - the long ball out of the back. But then again, I don't think the midfield has the ability to control the game at the MLS level. It was maddening.

My amateur opinion about the drop in Liverpool goal scoring:

1. Opponents realize that they must be real physical with Salah, and show him early that he's not in a "civilized" pick-up game. He's stronger than he looks but he doesn't like the banging at all.

2. Klopp knows this and has changed the attack. Lots of times Salah is low middle almost like what you guys call a "9" position (obviously way closer to a Chicharito --- a "Fox in the Box" --- than a Lewandowski) , but Liverpool doesn't use that well. Salah might be free enough to not get mugged wide right, but this often gets BobbyF out of the attack --- BIG mistake. It also seems sometimes to crimp Mane's style. Mane needs to run at you with some wide space and have Robertson crashing wide as well.

3. But I think the main deficit to me has been the way the midfield is working. No matter how good (generally speaking) Keita and Fabinho are (and they are very good soccer players), their presence in lineups cancels the effect of the Klopp Uber-Press. Henderson, Wynaldum, and Milner were just made for this half-crazy/wild in-your-shorts midfield terrorism. Without them maniacally blasting around, there are less and less dangerous turnovers by opponents which find the fab-three suddenly down the goalie's throat.

Klopp is a genius, and he obviously has a great plan. As a coach he thinks that guys like Fabinho should make Liverpool almost impossible to score on (if Henderson is in there too.) If the other guys have "0", all you need is "1". But getting even one (often by things like Salah fouled in the box even) is hard to come by. With a crazyman like Becker in goal, you never know when one of his mystery passes is going to put you behind.

Salah is obviously also not playing as Klopp would like him to, and Klopp preferentially pulled him the other day, and with very little interaction (unlike Klopp) as Salah went to the bench.

Liverpool is full of outstanding players, and they are mainly geared for a 21st century game of all-field lightning bolt running. Salah. Firminho, Mane, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Milner, Wynaldum, Henderson --- workrate warriors. You can't throw other pieces with different attitudes in that mix without dumbing it down.
