This. When our women lost that heartbreaker to Japan some years back I was as fine as I could have been with it because it was them. I’ll always root for Japan in most cases because they’re our buddies... that ending hurt but I admired what a great game it was. Hope Belgium or Croatia win it all now for real...

And tomorrow, without any doubt, “Viva Colombia “!!!!

Also kudos to both teams for playing it the right way,... I have to agree with Mexico’s manager about Neymar. Tat ‘stomp’ was dirty and shouldn’t have happened, but it was only a light step on the side of the shin guard... Neymar played that up like Mick Foley just put his ankle in a chair and crushed both off the top rope... that wee lass is a total disgrace and will be a black mark on the sport for years.

I have kind of sat back and just enjoyed the tournament without really pulling for any one team to take it all, but I am full on the Belgium wagon now.

I’d actually take them fourth in that group... they can get through in fairness but they are always so overrated and tend to be a headcase program when it counts...

Agreed on always overrated when it comes to World Cups. They have always had great players, but just couldn't figure out how to play together.

Before the Cup, I'd take them second in that group behind Columbia. However, full strength England has shown more than full strength Columbia, Sweden, and Switzerland. I hardly ever look at the FIFA world rankings. It seems like they weigh meaningless friendlies way more than they should. Looking at it right now, they have Poland at 8, Peru at 11, Wales at 18 while Croatia sits at 20. Also found it odd that Cape Verde Islands is at 65 while Russia is at 70.

Also, great game today between Belgium and Japan. In my opinion, most entertaining match so far.

I don't really care about the game going on now with SWE VS SUI, but definitely hoping England goes down later.

wouldn't really describe it as a choke job. Belgium switched up their game to go more route one and Japan couldnt deal with their physicality (naturally).

Lukaku is getting some praise for his dummy but his run to free up all that space for Munnier was just as good. That play was art. Would have only been better if Ian Dante was on the call. Shades of Donovan vs Algeria

This game is everything that is wrong with the game I love. The ref lost control and as a result there is no flow to this game at all. Bitching, complaining, taking dives, etc. No matter which team wins I want them to be gone after their next game.

I was in London during the 2006 World Cup and watched the game against Portugal in a huge sports bar. It was complete madness until the time expired. Bar went dead silent, and I shit you not, grown men sobbing all around like children before a single PK was taken. They knew they were going to lose. And they did.
