Mane/ Firmino/ Salah up front.

Lallana/ Can/ Henderson in the engine room.

Coutinho sold.

Wynaldum asked if he wants to try outside back Otherwise he gives the mid-three rests.

Profit from Coutinho used to buy a second roughhouse centerback to go with VVD, or a high class outside back. ... and a worldclass keeper.

Matip either stays in line-up or rests the centerbacks.

p.s. I watched Sanchez playing for Chile --- he's a damm WARRIOR if he's being treated well and motivated. Whoever gets him gets a winner. (a bit of a diver, but so are all those So.Am. guys.)

Teams looking at Sanchez and Ox, but not Ozil...hmmm.

If Ox stays fit, I'd love to see him under Klopp. Otherwise I think he's an overrated English player until he can prove otherwise. Klopp seems to bring out the best in players.

City wants to swap a player for Sanchez along with a fee. Imagine being on that City squad right now. I'd hide if it meant possibly going to Arsenal.

I tend to agree on Ox. The English media makes more of a fuss over him than he is worth, seemingly because he is English. (Not unlike Ross Barkley.) In college football terms, Ox is an athlete without a position. But with some coaching and training and educating from the gaffer, a guy like that can do a lot of damage rampaging in center midfield for a Klopp team. I don't think he gets anywhere near our first XI, at least not at first, but he fits the profile and I think he has a lot of potential to be a good Klopp CM.

On the City/Sanchez thing, I heard City were going to send Sterling to Arsenal?? Can you imagine? Even as a jilted LFC fan, I wouldn't wish that situation on Sterling right now, especially since he has scored two goals for Man City and has to be wondering if he is getting closer to being more of a regular first-choice player.

And it's done:

(Is this an ox though?? ^^^ Echo may have messed that up)

I'm pumped. He's a versatile guy and it's a great depth signing. Hopefully we will have some meaningless second leg games in CL, and if so, then I expect to see Ox in a lot of games like that and in cup competitions to give some of our first XI guys a breather. And who knows, he could turn into a stud under Klopp's tutelage.

AOC under Klopp should be interesting. I think Klopp will bring out the best of him IE Adam Lallana. The kid took less money than what Arsenal and Chelsea offered. AOC loves Stevie G too and grew up an LFC supporter.

Lemar wants a move, Monaco is hesitant to sell. Still quiet on the VVD front. Liverpool alone will make the last day of this window totally nuts.

If they sign both these guys, Coutinho or not, they are in position for big things. I think getting Lemar would mean they'd let Coutinho walk.

Over Kante, Pogba, and Alli?

Coutinho hasn't even played enough centrally for that to be true.

I think he's better than those three. Kante is pretty bomb though. Pogba is a babyback b!tch. Alli...lmao hate that guy so much but he is good.

KDB, Silva, Pogba, Alli all better than Coutinho for me. Kante gtfo, yeah he's an animal and great at what he does but he also can't pass for shit.

No chance sterling or aguero leave city. If sanchez comes in, it'll be because they were able to sign draxler/lamar/whoever, we're not going to send anybody the other way. If we do, I'll be shocked and furious at Txiki

Just curious, what is the connection between Notre Dame and Liverpool? Seem to be an awful lot of Liverpool fans in this thread.

I'm new, so no connection. I just like Klopp --- Man's Man, tough dude, stickler coach but really hugs his guys up when they do good, loves the game with overt passion. Sort of my ideal for a high level coach. If Kelly had Klopp's natural touch (when to be the General/drill sergeant and when to be the joyful uncle), he'd fill in one of his blanks as a coach.

Neither has shaken down the thunder in my lifetime. The first year I started watching Premier League regularly was the 2013-14 season. Suarez, Stevie G, and the boys won me over.

Klopp is going to be huge with winning over new fans in the US. Team is exciting to watch, he's funny and animated as hell too.

Living in the past?

Yeah, something like that, for me.

As an ND fan, like most or all of us, I have been dreaming for YEARS, since I was a kid, of ND recapturing its lost glory and its position as the preeminent college football program in the country, even though I am actually too young to really remember a time when we actually had that position, since it hasn't happened since the late 80s/early 90s. After the 2014 World Cup, I started watching the Premier League with my daughter on weekend mornings, and I need a team to root for. My buddy told me he roots for Liverpool, after being converted by a friend who was converted by the 2005 Champs League final in Istanbul (sounds corny, but true story!). He directed me to highlight videos of that match, and I was intrigued, so I read a few more things. And it was THEN that I learned that Liverpool had been the DOMINANT club in English soccer (18 titles and 4 European Cups, to which they added in 2005) until the late 1980s, when their position was cruelly usurped by Man U, and they've been trying to scale those heights again ever since. The ND parallel was too much. I was hooked.

This is true. For example, my three brothers in law all rooted for Everton because of Timmy Howard. They would annoy me by talking all kinds of shit to me as a Liverpool fan (which annoyed me doubly, because I just don't get the point of talking shit; it does nothing for me). Then, before last season, I get a tail-between-legs text: "We've talked about it, and we really like what Klopp is doing, and we want to be part of it. We are switching allegiances to Liverpool. I mean, Howard is gone, Bobby Martinez seems to have tanked the club, and we are Browns fans; we can't take another team in a downward spiral." (Fortunately for Everton fans, the club seems back on the up and up.)

I imagine Klopp is making fans of all kinds of people in just that way though. The club is just fun to watch and follow with him at the helm.

Spain V Italy qualifier on Saturday. I'm pretty excited to see if Italy's coach is going to experiment with formation like he has been suggesting. Forza Azzurri!

I have no horse in the race, but pulling hard for Villa as it would be great for MLS if he continues to get called up by Spain

Arsenal have outbid Liverpool. 92million pounds for Lemar.

Also, nothing of note on VVD. Seems most people are skeptical the Saints sell. James Pearce (Echo journie) isnt hopefu...saysl "possible, not probable". Could be they play hardball till the end to gt as much money as possible. Equally possible they put VVD on the u-23's this season :)

Dude, we are NOT friends this Saturday!

hahahaha...this game should be epic. Pisses me off because I will be tailgating and then I'll be at the ND game so I can't watch the game until I get home and everyone is asleep.

Last time they played I watched it with James Cachey and his Italian cousin. Always a fun time watching the national team play with true Italians lol.

Next time you're in the Bend I want to see that baby that's about to be born. You're gonna love fatherhood bro. My 5 year-old girl plays soccer in a league and is pretty good but could take it or leave it, but my 3 yr old wants to go home and kick the ball with me pretty much every single day. It's awesome.

But I digress lol.

Furia Roja!

To me it’s a good thing/bad thing. It’s fantastic for the MLS, and a testament to just how dominant Villa has been and how much quality he still has. New soccer fans that I talk to don’t realize how much of a baller he was from like 2005-2012 on the world stage. So it’s great for people to get to see what a stud he still is.

On the other hand, it’s kind of an embarrassment for Spain in the sense that we still have not cultivated hardly any world-class strikers since the hey-day of Torres and Villa. We have about a million midfielders playing in every big league in the world, but we basically have a Brazilian as our starting #9 (Costa). Morata will most likely get the start against Italy, but I’d expect to see Villa the next game.

I hear you. Villa just has the IT factor though that all strikers need, and very few have. I mean, he is literally inches away from being 3 for 3 on shots from over 50 yards this year (he has one against the best keeper in MLS). That is some next level cockiness/confidence you need in a striker. And to be honest, he has gotten better since he joined MLS and hasn't lost a step which is crazy at 35. I think if you gave Morata or Aspas Villa's mentality about the game, you have two world class talents instead of just great players.

Also, boohoo that Spain can't develop a world class striker. I would love to have the roster issues that Spain has haha.

Cack or one of the other Pool guys. Tell me why Allan was loaned to Cyprus? Thought he was a promising prospect. Is it work permit issues? I know you can buy citizenship there for around $500K and would be an easy in to meet EU residency requirements.
