Today's the day and I'm as nervous as a 3-peckered goat. Not sure I can make it thru the next 6 hrs w/o going crazy.
Auf geht's Bayern! Mia san mia!
I felt like an SEC fan today. With tons of family in Barca, we grew up as Barca fans. But since I've only visited and never lived, I've never DEEPLY hated Madrid like a true Barcalonian. So as a Spaniard, I rooted for them hard today (rooting for Pepe made me sick lol). I personally have nothing against Bayern (great team that last year was just phenomenal), but I didn't want to see them win. I do love Pep though, so it was sad to see them you guys go out like that.
No, Pep isn't going anywhere. The whole team has kind of sucked since they won the league title a few weeks ago, but they have a good group of guys. Lewandowski will be there in a few weeks and there will be some other changes, probably defensively. Defense has been an issue for much of the year. I don't like singling out 1 player, but Dante, in particular, isn't playing this year like he did last year.
But, whatever, doubling the champions league is hard.
I disagree. I think he is in a lot of trouble. He is an outsider and they expected him to win big, as his predecessor did. They've played horribly the past month, especially by their standards.
Here's the thing though. I agree that going back-to-back is hard. REALLY hard. It is always extremely difficult to keep the same fire, intensity and close-to-perfection for so long. Just look at Bama this past year. Guys didn't work as hard, didn't concentrate as hard, took things for granted, etc, and in the end, they just weren't as dominant as they were the year before. Bayern (and Pep) were incredible for most of the year (for me, even better than last year), and then they clinched the league in record time, and they had a natural let-down which they haven't been able to regain. But Pep was in basically a no-win situation this year, and almost pulled it off.
So PLEASE Bayern, fire Pep, and Pep, come home to Barca!!! (I know, I'm dreaming...)
