Jozy Altidore is the truth. That is all.

Almost a carbon copy of Ronaldo's goal vs Chelsea.

I was very pleased with the fightback. Jurgen has really got it going, but let's be serious, it all comes down to the WC. Jozy has hit some form, but is it a purple patch or is he finally realizing his potential?

I really like our setup for the WC thus far.

----------------Jozy----------------

Lando--------Deuce----------Zusi

-------Bradley-------Jones--------

Fabian-----Omar--Besler----Evans?

---------------Howard----------------

Unless Guzan is in fabulous form for Villa. Good problem to have though. I'd feel confident with either. I'm cautiously optimistic. Making it to the Quarterfinals would be my hope if we catch some breaks.

For all the Arsenal fans. **** you. :D Now get back to calling him a racist cannibal.

I think we really need someone up there with Jozy... though I agree something like this gets the most talent on the field.

Though my drawing skills aren't the best something like this would be my preference (depending on how the group looks). And I'd still like someone else up top with Jozy so Dempsey can play with a bit more space (like 5-10 yds from their back line).

Never knew Jozy had free kicks in his game honestly...

I don't know that he ever did. I think we are watching a guy take his game to another level right now. I don't know that he could have scored that first goal a year ago, either.

The nucleus of the USMNT is all of a sudden looking pretty respectable from an international perspective for the first time (at least in my lifetime). Still nowhere near the depth that the elite nations that contend to win the World Cup have, but closer to a legitimate respectable squad. Too bad this is probably the last go-round for Donovan and Dempsey, because if they were a couple years younger the '18 team could actually be loaded with world-class players.

Cameron was playing RB for Stoke, was he not? He's not gonna transition well, which showed in his outing in CM in a friendly I think.

Maybe I am forgetting which game Cameron played in that CDM/ RB. Can't really remember now that I think about it. Anyway I like his distribution and balls in the final third. The problem with Johnson being on the other side is both push forward and it could expose a non-stellar back line.

Jones does a great job at playing destroyer. He does get forward at times, but he and Bradley are hands down our two best holding mids. Bradley has more license to get forward but Jones exploits space when it's allowed.

Johannsson>Zusi

Already? You may very well be correct, but Jurgen puts stock in the Gold Cup qualifiers, where Zusi played very well. Him pinging in crosses for Jozy and Lando cutting in from the left would best utilize our best players, IMO. Johannsson may be in the squad, or he may play himself into the starting XI, but it's Zusi's job ATM.

Cameron came in as a sub during the Hex and Gold Cup for one of the CDMs in a couple of games IIRC. I think he was also tried at RB one game and as a CB several times. Jurgen wants him on the team but I think he trying to see where best to play him.

Fabian needs to secure the LB or LM spot.

Bradley's long pass was on a dime to Jozy. He is central to our WC hopes. We absolutely have to have him making those passes and those long runs into the final 3rd.

Final thought....it is so nice to have a coach who can make tactical changes that actually work.

Fabian and Cameron have the same issue; they play one position for their club side and it's not where we need them to play for us. We do not need Fabian as a LM/LW, we need him as a LB. Cameron has been playing RB for Stoke, but we need him in CM/CB. It's tough switching positions like that, to say nothing of the change in system as well.

I'm more worried about RB than LB. Even if Fabian doesn't work there I still trust Beasley well enough. Right back though. Chandler is a headcase and Parkhurst and Evans are just okay. In fact, the whole defense is suspect for me. I have high expectations for Brooks though. I thought he did pretty well yesterday considering what he was going up against.

I do not think Beasley can keep up with WC competition. He did fine against CONCACAF but got beat and exposed several times even then during the Gold Cup. We need a young solid LB for WC with Beasley as cover or sub.

RB is worrisome.

Not worried about our CBs. We will be fine there. I need to see more from the Hex and I want our A team against Mexico. Mexico will still be our biggest test. I would think they have to bring in Chichirito and Dos Santos et al against us.

The 10th of next month could be a glorious day indeed...

If England loses to The Ukraine and we beat Mexico... both England and mexico will be on the outside looking in heading into the final few games...

How awesome would it be if neither of them qualified???

Montenegro and Ukraine will qualify out of that group. Ukraine still has San Marino twice!

Mexico will finish with about 13 points(beat panama, lost to us, draw the others). Should be good enough for fourth but it will be close. Maybe they'd lose to New Zealand!

My personal preference would be the 4-1-3-2. We looked amazing in that. I'd go something like
-------------johannsson(drinking the koolaid baby!)-----------Altidore
-------Dempsey--------Bradley--------Donovan--------
------------------------jones---------------------
Johnson--------Belser--------Brooks---------cherundolo/Evans/chandler/ Cameron/open
------------------Howard------------

Guzan has a chance to start IMO as much as I love Tim.
Jones in a strictly defensive midfield role would be dangerous. He does poorly when he gets to far up.
Johannsson is going to kill it for AZ this year(he already is).

To sum it up...

Gunners were gonna sign every player on the market and ended up with no one...

In realated news, Gary Hooper is the biggest moron in history....

-you won't make more money at Norwich
-you will NEVER play in Europe for Norwich
-You won't get more fame at Norwich
-You had a better chance of making the English team by starring at Celtic and netting goals in Champions league than you ever will by starring for an English team no one cares about

dumbass.

Debatable. Better competition in the Prem though. CL is nice, but 38 games for the best league in the world is more than CL games, some of which are against Vladivostock FC. I understand your anger though buddy. Go ahead and get it out. I know the feeling too well.

Celtic tries or outright applies just about every single year… the bigotry and hate never ends…

Seriously though, they have made no secret at all they want in and since the finical scores of teams came out a few years back and Celtic was valued the 20 somethingish team in the world and the report said they’d be top five maybe even top three, if they got out of Scotland they have REALLY wanted out…

The current powers that be are being crazy over it right now… I say just collapse ALL of Scottish soccer and condense it ALL into English soccer… hell even if that means having all Scottish teams from Celtic on down starting in the fourth division I’d be all for it.

Short answer, Celtic wants in bad, it’s up to the powers that be in England to simply allow it.

It would take Celtic at worst 4 years to reach the EPL in that scenario... They are definitely better than Championship competition, but there are some solid teams in there. I for one would root for them over Manchester City(my current team) if they did so.

Both major Welsh clubs are in the top flight this year. That will be a match to watch.

Celtic is about Newcastle right IMO... Or Fulham... Given a couple years in the EPL their floor would be Spurs or Gunners IMO...

So floor is challenging for fourth? Is that what you're saying? I have no doubt they'd make it, but EL places is where I'd put their ceiling for the forseeable future. The Prem is no the SPL for quality. Celtic would be pushed hard by a lot of those mid table teams.
