I like Lacazette a lot and always have. That's a guy who could get calls from the top clubs in Europe. Have to wonder how committed he is to staying at Arsenal right now. He seems to have wanted that move since it took a while to materialize. Lyon can be a pain in the ass with negotiations of transfers.

Arsenal don't want a Manchester United post Ferguson type of future for themselves, but that could be where they're headed. Hard to move forward when you replace a boss who has been around for a long time.

problem for the gunner is laca and aubameyang are both at their best when playing up front centrally. they don't fit together in same team

Knee jerk reactions from opening weekend:

1. City and Liverpool are 1 and 2 by a wide margin.
2. Wolves qualify for a Europa spot.
3. Chelsea and Tottenham claim 3 and 4.
4. Mourinho is gone by end of October and Man U finishes in 8th.
5. Cardiff, Southampton, and Huddersfield get relegated.

I'm a Man Utd fan, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mourinho is run out of town by the winter transfer window. He doesn't play an attractive style of soccer, he talks a little too much about his star players to the media, and the fact that City are head and shoulders above them looks horrible.

I'd love for Zidane to come, but I highly doubt that would happen.

Don't know how Klopp gets these guys to make that level of effort, but Liverpool will run most teams into the Oxygen tent with their work rates.

I cannot see how any top manager could be looking at the harassment hustle of Liverpool and not think "this is the future of what soccer will demand."

Gegenpress works for a certain type of footballer but generally it does work for players who think they are above the system. You could never run that system at a place like Real Madrid for instance. Any time you have a situation where a player believes they are greater than the club/team/their team mates it simply will fall apart. It's why Klopp always sold his star players at Dortmund, he knew making them stick around if their hearts were not in it was a pointless exercise.

Boyata refused to play (he said he was injured and BR has openly refuted him) either leg and all three goals we gave up were really chintzy that he prob could have prevented. After this I doubt he has any future with the club. With or without him Celtic has needed upgrades on defense for at least three years... with the widening gap between the big four and everyone else though it's getting harder and harder to find CBs of any quality.

Really beginning to dislike LAFC, to the point I’d root for Seattle or RSL over them.

Agree but like the ICC being a cash cow for these teams, La Liga is going to be cashing in big time so they don't care. Guaranteed that once they sell out their first match, other leagues are going to follow suit.

I see it as an opportunity lost by the smaller leagues. This will be followed soon by the EPL and others. The Dutch, Portuguese, Scottish and other leagues with history that are struggling to keep up with the massive money influxes should have jumped on this first. Now the leagues that are already drowning out the rest of Europe will just tap another resource that could have helped. I know if you are a fan of a big money team in 2018 you couldn't care less but I see European football as being in a state of crisis. the income gap is widening so far that only a handful of teams from a handful of leagues will ever have any real standing anywhere soon (hell, we are already pretty much there but it's only going to strengthen given time) ... that's not a good thing long term.

I agree with you. I love a "big money team" in Arsenal. But even that is debatable about Arsenal anymore. How a club like them cannot afford to compete is sad, and horrible for the rest of Europe. Having those other leagues you mentioned would actually be really cool. Instead, it goes to the big money leagues...

I don't think the other leagues could have done it for a few reasons but mainly because no one would go to the matches that are going to be here.

La Liga can do it because they don't have to use their marquee matchups of El Classico to attract fans. Barca and Real fans would united revolt if an El Classico was in the US. However, Real Madrid playing Real Betis or Celta Vigo is still selling out. Same as Manchester City vs Watford. Same as Bayern vs Hoffenheim. Same as PSG vs Caen. Same as Juventus vs Genoa.

Celtic vs Hearts of Midlothian is not coming close to a sell out. Benfica vs Vitoria Guimeres is not selling out. Ajax vs AZ Alkmaar is not selling out.

You can't do Celtic vs Rangers or Benfica vs Porto in the US. The fans would revolt. The second tier matchups would attract no interest here.
