Yeah but what throws me is that the announcers never even mention that Liverpool has a guy just kind of lollygagging at the end line, which should basically make an offside play impossible, right?

Offside rule actually requires 2 players to be back, nobody really thinks about the keeper being a player in the back in offsides plays

I believe the argument was if Milner's touch off the thigh was a deliberate play or not, not exactly sure of the rule there, but I assume a deliberate touch would allow a player in an offside position to play the ball

A deliberate touch plays him onside I'm pretty sure. Just like any other. The question is if it was deliberate. Not my call to make.

Still on the Coty play? If so I don't even see anyone offsides, regardless? Am I missing something?

It wasn't a terrible call, but I don't think Juve would have gotten the same call at the other end. Only a few teams get that call in Europe.

Sevilla is garbage. Garbage players, garbage organization. Their game is garbage, their talent is garbage. Their fans should burn their club headquarters to the ground in embarrassment and then go root for Real. At least that's a better grade of garbage.

Fck that game and fck that ref. At least Bayern are through.

Care to elaborate for those of us caught up in the Juve-Real madness?

Man that Madrid v Juve game. I keep changing my mind if that was a penalty or not. I could see it both ways. Even more reason to have VAR. Michael Oliver is a POS for sending Gigi off that way. I don’t think we will see him officiate a Champions League game ever again.

Sevilla did their normal shit show of constant diving. They're famous for it, everyone knows it.

But as an added bonus, they took up trying to injure Bayern's players. The ran Lewa a couple of times, James, and Javi Martinez, including a 2nd yellow in the 93rd minute by that cheap piece of crap Correa for a hit on Javi. The ref was terrible. If he was worth a shit, Sevilla would have been down to 9 men at the half - it was that bad.

Bayern played ok, not great, but Sevilla was a joke.

It was a penalty all day. 100%.

No fan of Juve, but if it is them or Real Madrid and I have to make a choice, I take Juve.

I could have done without seeing Buffon get sent off, but I could have done without Buffon's comments after the match. I understand he was upset, but he was putting down some verbal mushroom clouds on the official.

Really hope Bayern don't draw Pool. Would make me a sad Panda.

Yeah, and honestly I'm tempted to say that the club LFC match up with best is Real Madrid? I think our shock-and-awe 20-minute-swarm tactic could work against them because they are given to switching off from time to time. You saw it yesterday. The big Spanish clubs are tested so rarely that when a club really challenges them, they sometimes struggle to hold firm, as Barca struggled on Tuesday, as Jonathan Wilson describes in the below-linked article:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/apr/11/barcelona-defending-champions-league

On the other hand, Real have been so good in this competition the last couple of years and their sheer quality can be overwhelming even when they aren't playing well. At this stage of the competition, the reality is it's a tough draw no matter what.

What a quarterfinal round though. So many amazing moments.

Heartbreaking ending for Juve, but I'm with Rogue, that's a clear penalty for me.

Any of the three other teams can exploit Real's weaknesses. I think Liverpool may be the best at exploiting those, however.

good draw for liverpool, i feel Roma might have emotionally drained the tank in the previous round whereas Liverpool i feel still have more to give and didnt have to empty themselves versus City in the same way
