It can, think of a TE who's most talented in the passing game being in a system where he's simply used as an extra blocker all the time... it can lead to a fish out of water scenario...

This... My hope is that as we see Pulisic's progression, he will transition from wing to a CAM and Bradley will be able to play that deep lying mid role that he needs. We have the pace at outside back that we could go 4-2-2-2 or a 4-4-2 diamond formation Jones (for now) at the DM and Bradley playing deep a little ahead of him. Something like this is Bradley's ideal formation:

-------------Wood---------Altidore---------------
--------------------Pulisic-------------------------
----------------------------------Kleistan?---------
------------Bradley-----------------------------------
----------------------Jones--------------------------
Johnson-----Brooks-------Omar-------------Chandler/Yedlin

I think in 2018 Gooch will replace Jones. His work rate is some of the best I have ever seen out of a Yank

Omar gave up on the pass leading to the goal and Guzan totally could have made that save. Chandler should never play for us again. Not a damn thing going on with our forwards. Gross damn game.

What a debacle. And worse than the result is the manner in which it is happening. This team has looked totally disorganized and lackadaisical all night. Klinsmann has got to go, huh?

That awkward moment when pulisic isn't even gonna have a chance to carry us on his back for the 2018 world cup

The back line has been atrocious. I hate Fabian in midfield. He didn't do anything but punt the ball straight up. i mean this is the worst I have seen the team play in a long time.

There were huge gaps all over the field, the players generally looked like they had no idea where they were supposed to be, the selection and substitutions were head-scratchers in many cases ... it was just bad.

I think, broadly and generally speaking, we have better players than at any time I can remember -- but we are a worse team. It's time for a new manager.

I'm not sure be ever disliked a head of a team of mine like Juergen, he's killed this program and salvaged Mexicos... he couldn't have been worse.

He's gone... Reading the tea leaves, he won't survive the week. Here is what Gulati said:

And the consensus among soccer media is that it will be Bruce Arena as the replacement. Not sure how I feel about that, but it's better than now.

So, what's the path for the US to qualify for the '18 WC now?

we've only played 2 of the 10 games in the hex so far. however, we have never come out of the first 2 games of the hex with less than 3 points before. so, we should still continue with the expectation that we will qualify, but we have to get our shit together.

Thanks brother. I guess I could have looked at the table and figured there were 8 games to go if I used my brain, realizing there were 5 other teams in the group.

We will qualify regsrdless of who is coach. I just don't want this to be a fourth place team who then has to play a home and away with New Zealand to qualify. Anything less than third is a failure, always. I don't think these losses change that. If they get 10 points in the remaining home games, 5 in the remaining away (I do think they can get more, but let's be conservative), 15 points will be enough for at least fourth.

Trinidad has to be two wins. 6 points
Panama a win and a draw. 4 points
Honduras a win and a draw. 4 points.
Mexico loss.
Costa Rica win or draw.
15 point base. Could see them winning at Panama too to bring the total to 19, but likely 15-17.

They should still be highly favored to make the top four... even if JK stays... but they are making it really hard on themselves and the next few months are going to be fun... I don't think they play again until March... THing is they just played the two best teams they are going to play... the home match against CR will be one of those that if you get three points you're just fine... the away games with Panama and Honduras become a bit more interesting... let's just say they drop those.... then it's panic time. I THINK, off memory, they play one of those two games in March when it starts back up too... so we will see right off the bat.

SO, who do they hire? Caleb Porter? Jesse Marsch? I'd be happy with either of those, no doubt.

Hindsight is 20/20, I guess.

Seriously, is there any way to keep Jurgen as technical director? I love what he has done for our player pool, but he is just such a shitty manager when it comes to selection decisions and tactics.
