For whatever reason... I don't really care for lewandowski. But Bayern is better when he is in the team obviously. They will probably win champions league barring the injury bug biting.

Mr. Rodgers is real close to running out of time at Pool. My good memories of 13-14 are pretty much gone. I had high hopes for this season... Clearly I'm an idiot.

I watched this week's League Cup game last night ... it's getting really old, watching Liverpool dominate possession and somehow fail to create scoring chances (or blow them when they do create them).

Rodgers is trying to fit too many round pegs in square holes, using strikers and #10s as wingers, and it just isn't working.

It's like the Weis years ... too much talent to be this bad.

I have it on good authority that Brendan will not be the manager after this week. An acquaintance of mine lives in Liverpool and regularly is at Melwood and home games. He said the assistants have been running the practices and Brendan has not been involved in the last week. They feel Rodgers will coach against Aston Villa today but that will be his last game. Not saying it will happen but it is strongly supported by activities in and around the club the last two weeks.

Also management has been at the facility non-stop the last two weeks including FSG. They have reportedly sounded out Ancellotti and now Klopp said he would come out of sabbatical for the right Premier League Team....

Its all adding up.

Whoa.

I found it strange that Brendan didn't talk to the media after the League Cup game. This would certainly explain all that ...

I feel terrible for the guy. I have to wonder if the fact that he has been going through a terrible divorce has been a factor in his poor performance as manager over the last 18 months or so.

Klopp would seriously be perfect for Liverpool though. Could be a quick turnaround.

Journalists close to the team are reporting Rogers has 10 days to save his job. That gives him 3 games, all of which are must win games.

Personally, I think they are making time to secure the next manager anyway but it also gives the crowd a break so they can support him as much as possible.

What a win by my Spurs today.

I'm going to take the opposite side on this and call that a horrendous effort by City. You know they wouldn't play that bad vs United, Chelsea or Arsenal. Pellegrini would also never play anyone but Hart in those games either.

Maybe I'm biased though...

Still no announcement. I'm sorry but I don't buy your acquaintance's story. Had they lost again... Perhaps.

See above. So he won one of his "remaining three" games. That's fine man. This guy always has very good info. Just passing it along. Maybe he gets to keep his job if he beats Everton IDK.

Ooh, the thought of Klopp at Liverpool though ...

Rodgers is clearly (imo) trying to emulate Dortmund, but he hasn't been able to get quite the right players. For example, he keeps trying to buy #10s to play the Reus/Mkitaryan role (Lallana, Firmino) and they just don't quite work there. Now he is using strikers in that winger role (Ings, Origi) and that's not working either. Liverpool won this weekend by changing shape and taking advantage of Sturridge's quality. But it would be awesome to see the guy who built Dortmund try to make it work with the personnel that Rodgers assembled in an effort to emulate Dortmund.

On the other hand, Liverpool has so many guys who are good centrally that maybe, no matter who the coach is, the move is to stick with this back 3 system and, to provide width, just unleash Moreno and Clyne as wingbacks. That certainly worked this weekend. Moreno is perfect in that role.

Haven't watched Liverpool this season but the current Dortmund under Tuchel is playing a different style than what Klopp had them playing the last couple years... gone are the days of running down long balls and the midfield and back line marking is a bit different also.

Regardless Klopp should do well there.

I am thinking Rodgers is given one more Europa Game against Sion (October 1) and the game against Everton (October 4) to really impress.

With this the case, we will have played the second match of group games in Europa and also played most of the big rivals. THis will be an important week for him. If he doesnt get it done convincingly I think the reports will hold true and he is gone.

I also saw a tweet from @Sika_LFC (from Germany)who is fairly well respected for being ITK for Liverpool and Dortmund and he said Klopp said he really wants to go to Liverpool. TIFWIW.

I have no insider knowledge or anything but from what I have read my gut tells me that Klopp is making demands through channels to Liverpool and the reds are taking their time determining if the demands are something they are willing to give into to to get Klopp, and that's the real hold up... if they are moving on from Rodgers they are moving on... I think what's stalling things is Klopp's talk of total control.

Me too. FSG has the Transfer Committee which is obviously not working. Klopp wants a DOF. This is probably a large impasse as FSG has made a great deal of investment in the Transfer Committee.

My acquaintance is also saying the Mike Gordon is vehemently defending Rodgers to the other FSG brass currently.

They did make an investment with the committee, but they wanted a DoF model when they bought the club. They wanted to go continental when they hired BR, but BR refused. So FSG shopped around more, didn't like what they saw, and came back to BR, willing to scrap the DoF if BR would take over, and that's where we are today.

BR got more control than ever this past off-season. I don't think the hangup will be a DoF, but finding the right one. Klopp won't take control because he likes to focus on the actual squad, leaving the transfer dealings to someone else, which is more in line with sports in the U.S. and on the continent. I'm thinking the issue will be finding someone who works well with Klopp, because you can't just replicate the relationship he had at Dortmund.

I definitely think the reason Klopp didn't go anywhere this offseason is because he was holding out for Liverpool or City because word is he has always wanted to coach in England.

Liverpool struggle to a 1-1 draw at Anfield with Sion FC.... absolute garbage game. Pathetic. Everton will destroy this team.

Despite the fact that they should be on top of the group with 6 points but only have 4 instead I still feel okay about Celtic's chances to get through, have to stop letting big games get away from them late though... that's been a two year old theme that was getting old two years ago...
