Nothing worse than playing with a good golfer who is also a douche about it.
not sure what's worse a douche or the guy who claims "oh, I've never played this good before" after every shot that compared to mine looks like Scottie Scheffler.

If the person is actually being humble and shooting the best round of their life, I get less annoyed than if they're playing me for cash and sandbagged me. But If they say it over and over again it definitely gets annoying. Dude, you're playing well, just shut up about it lol

I looked in the rough for 5 minutes, but here it was in the fairway the whole time.

LOL. Ironically, this actually happened to me last fall. I hooked a drive into some trees on a blind dog leg. Course is setup so that even shots in the trees can still be found and played. I looked everywhere for that ball. Then I randomly saw one in the fairway about 50 yards further than what I thought I hit it. Drove over to it, and sure enough, it was my ball with my mark and everything. Had a massive bark scuff on it too from hitting a tree, bouncing out and rolling forward down a hill. I said that was the luckiest I'd ever been on a golf course...

Until a few holes later, I caught a sprinkler head on a par 5 layup effort and the ball bounced crazy high, caught a slope, and rolled onto the green to about 20 feet. (I missed the eagle, but will take a stress free birdie tap in any day.)

Some days the golf gods have mercy on us all.

Question for @Jimmy3Putt or anyone else, do you prefer a certain ball and why?

I’ve spent $100s playing these ProV1s just to hit them in the pond. This year loaded up on a bunch of Kirklands from Costco and they seem to play just as good.

Just curious your thoughts, please

Not 3 putt but my opinion is for 95% of golfers, expensive balls like prov 1s make little to no difference. If you can’t manipulate shots, can’t spin the ball around the greens, change trajectories, don’t have the club head speed to compress the ball effectively, etc on purpose, you’re wasting your money.

Now I’m not saying play cracked crap balls you find in the lake, but any mid level balls are fine. I actually think Kirkland got sued by titliest for copying their pro Vs

ProV1and x is the best golf ball, but like SDIrishFan said, it's not worth it for most players. I compress the ball just fine and love spin on my iron shots. It allows me to shoot a number instead of playing short and guessing how much roll out I'll get. For that I always play a urethane cover.
I experimented with a lot of off brand balls: Snell, Vice, Maxfli, Kirkland, etc. Most of them will land, hop, and stop on firm greens or spin back a bit if the green is soft. Where they differ is distance off the tee and full iron shots in the wind. I've been playing Snell X for the last 5-6 years, but am currently in love with the Sam's Club ball. It's very similar to the Kirkland, but I found it to feel a tad softer.

If Kirkland works for you, then keep playing it. Best part is, almost no one will steal your ball.

While I love playing Pro v 1s, x in particular, I can never justify paying retail for them. Ive been a fan of the triple track chrome soft especially for putting.

I’ve never played Kirkland so no opinion there.

One great thing about going to high school golf meets is you spend a lot of time walking in the trees/rough, that’s usually worth a dozen or so “good” balls.

No problem! Just remember, everyone's swing is different and produces different amounts of spin. What's long for me might not be long for you.
Urethane cover, price, and whatever ball can cut through the wind is what I recommend.

Btw, I play every Prov1x I find on the course until it hits a watery grave, lol!

I freaking love the kirkland golf ball.
I also love the super soft, bright red (helps find my ball in the rough) Calloway's.

I use Titleist TruFeel. Not super durable but good feel around the greens and good pop off the tee or from the ground.

I tend to play with any ball I find in the woods while I'm looking for my previous shot. Even though you can't find your shot, you usually find "your ball". I like the dirtier balls that are tough for your cart pal to see as you're kicking it out of the leaves and onto the only patch of grass in the area.

Played in my first ever tournament this past weekend. Had fun but the rules on the day did not benefit me like it did all the seniors. They all got to play up and there was a two putt max, a part of my game which is decent. Played your own ball. I would been better just hitting a few iron shots to get to the green and never scoring higher than a 5. lol Instead I tried playing my usual game and my driver decided to find every overhanging branch the course had to offer.

Drive for show…. putt for…. never mind

I’m guessing nobody left their first putt short with a two putt max

Strange, what’s the point of playing the hole if there’s a max on putts whether you 5 feet away or 50?

It’s not like we’re talking circle 10s here to speed up play.

Kirkland are supposed to be the secret great golf ball. I like Callalways and sometimes Bridgestones.

Exactly. Funny enough it made my putting game worse I think because I lost all sense of touch by promising to never leave it short.
