Time to brag...

I had an eagle yesterday on a 70 yard chip in. As soon as I saw my lie I knew I was going to put it close, but definitely didn't expect that. It was a 500 yard par 5. Hit the tee shot a solid 250, but was in the rough and I had some trees in my way so I had to lay up to the left, because the hole was a slight dog leg right. My lie was plumped up in some short rough, which is my ideal lie with my sand wedge. I am deadly from 70-100 yards. Felt really good. Didn't play that great otherwise. 5 pars, an eagle, a birdie, two double bogies, and one triple. Up and down round.

awesome bro. it's been a long time since i drained one from off the green, fun to do though.

It was only my second time. I have had a few chip ins from just off the green, but from anything that far out it had been a long time as well.

Only bad part is the next hole was like a 170 yard par 3, and I put it right in the bunker. I have a horrible chip out, and end up 3 putting. I go from a 3 on a par 5 to a 5 on a par 3. I guess that is golf for ya.

Won the Member Guest tournament with my Father in Law this weekend. Same tournament I got my hole in one at 3 years ago. Got some nice pro shop credits to use now.

Someone help me....

I've never been an accurate driver of the golf ball, but all the sudden, I'm hitting a huge pull of the tee and with 3-4-5 irons. I mean, like 40 yards off my target line. Sometimes it's a pull hook, sometimes it's not.

It doesn't feel like I'm coming over the top. I heard that one cause could be a dipped front shoulder at address (although, haven't made it to the range yet to test). I'm damn near to the point of video taping it and posting online to see if someone can see what I'm doing wrong.

It's killing my scores. Sometimes I'l get lucky and avoid any major trouble, but sometimes I'll hit 4 out of bounds (case and point, played in a tournament and shot 73 on 18, 3 days later in league I shot 50 on 9).

It's to the point I don't even want to play.

^This. Also try opening your clubface at address just slightly. That when as you make impact and turn the club over you don't snap it closed but instead it is square to slightly closed.

#HotSportsTakes: There's Something Not Right About Lefty - The Triangle Blog - Grantland

This pretty much sums up how I feel about Phil Mickelson. I can't stand him. It sounds absurd but this writer agrees with me to a certain extent. There's just something about him that's too perfect and seems fraudulent

No offense to you, but that's the stupidest article I've ever read.

"Hey Phil just won a tournament, we like him, and as far as we know he's an alright guy, but be careful because sometimes athletes aren't what they seem."

Don't you think there's something weird about him? When he speaks it seems to me like it's all scripted. He displays no raw emotions. I mean his caddy was crying like a baby after he won his what, 5th major? He went to his daughter's 8th grade graduation or something, instead of arriving to the US Open on time and people praised him for it.I actually found it absurd "I didn't think I could ever win the British Open" is one of the stupidest things I've heard from the second-best player of his generation. Seems like he wants us to believe he did something miraculous. . Maybe I'm just too much of a Tiger fan but something about Lefty just rubs me the wrong way.

I don't think there is anything weird about him. I too am a Tiger fan, and not a fan of Phil, I do however appreciate what he did on the eve of the Open. I fail to see what is wrong with this, it's not as if he was letting his teammates down. Perhaps parents around the country could learn something from him. We shouldn't knock the prioritization he puts on his family time, God Bless him for it. I still hope Tiger beats him every opportunity he gets, but let's keep some perspective on this. Based on his actions off the course, if he were a college football player, you'd think of him as a ND type of guy.

Don't get me wrong, I highly appreciate family values. But I find it odd that it got so much attention in the media. I guess maybe I'm blaming him for something the media did so I'm wrong on that.

Thanks guys.

I "think" I figured it out (I have league tonight, so I'll know quickly. First 3 holes on this course have out-of-bounds left).

Had a buddy watch me swing. He noticed that I literally rock from my left to my right side during my back swing, and then back to the left. That, coupled with my shoulders opening up was dragging my wrists over ahead of my hands, causing the pull.

Went out, worked on keeping my head still and starting the downswing more with my lower body, and my pull turned into a subtle draw.

And now that I think I have it figured out, I'm gonna shot about a 50 on 9. Yeah, Golf!

Bud. Just leave the driver at home. Until you are hitting it straight 4 out of 5 times at the range(at least), it will be detrimental to your score otherwise. Just tee off with a 3 wood or a hybrid. I guess maybe I have a slight bias because I absolutely crank my 3 wood and see no point in my driver(I have no control with it FWIW), but it has worked for me the past two years posting some very low rounds. Accuracy is more important than distance.

I've had a ping eye 2 set of irons my whole life, and I'm looking to sell those for $175 obo (not sure if this is reasonable or not, well see).

And I'm looking to 'upgrade' to a used set ill buy on eBay or 3balls.com.

Should I be worried about buying used irons? They don't really lose their 'pop' do they?

I have been a Lefty fan ever since I was little growing up with the game....the way he appreciates every aspect of it, compared to an ******* like Tiger, is beyond reproach. Most people, including myself and Phil himself, never thought he could win The Open with good reason. Up until recently he honestly did not have "the game" for it. The Open requires a certain type of ball striker: someone that can keep the ball low in the rough winds, scramble your way out of the bad areas, and limit your mistakes and high numbers.
Phil was finally able to have his week. His final round was one of the greatest the game of golf has ever seen, and by far his best round in a major ever.
I can understand the point of view of looking at Phil and seeing someone so polished and squeaky clean, that it might be too good to be true. I don't think this could be any further from the truth.

I'm looking to buy a used set of the Cobra AMP Cell irons. I like how they feel a lot.

Anyone used them?

not that i care, but dont get all this "phil is too good to be true" talk...he's not "perfect" by any means. heres what i've heard over the years: back in the day: big time gambler; him and the bride rumored to "swing"; enjoyed/still enjoys the kind; not well liked by fellow tour players. he's gt his warts just like the rest of em.

i never place any of these pro athletes on any "pedestals"...they only disappoint you.

You can also watch it on cbssports.com. For those of us at work who have gotten absolutely nothing done today with Kelly's press conference and TP's new site. On top of that the Dodgers game starts in a few minutes against the Cubs. What a waste of a day today. Love it. :)

Also, if you want to follow just TW, and you're a twitter person, follow @GCTigerTracker

I'm not sure who he is, but he is with TW on the course and describes every shot.

He had another nice putt on 18 to save par after he screwed that hole from the tee off.

I can't believe the power of Lindsey's "swing oil." Tiger is so dialed in this week.

Shot an 84 today on a par 72... with a freaking 11 on a par 5. Par 5s are usually the hole I make up strokes on. Not today. Hit into the woods twice. Overall a good round. My short game has improved drastically in the past year.
