Not being argumentative, but I don't think it's on the rise. It's been this way for quite a while. I can't tell you how many kids I coached when they were in Little League, youth FB, etc. that didn't play the next year because they were going to "concentrate" on one sport.

I've always contemplated writing a book on this subject.

"The End of the Innocence - The demise of Fun in Youth Sports".

My wife refused to come to the Little League games I coached because she grew tired of hearing the parents complain.

I'd read it.

I would read it too. My BIL is a hs coach and hitting coach and it's amazing to hear how hs sports have changed since I was a kid. It's unfortunate how differently kids grow up nowadays. It's truly a loss of a real childhood. It's scary to think about how this generation have separated themselves into "have and have nots" today.

Maybe this stuffed happened when I was a kid, but didn't notice, but I notice now. It seems like at a very early age these parents (coaches) are separating the "have and have nots" into teams. They are creating "super teams" in the town leagues so the "best kids" are all on the same team, not taking into consideration that the teams should be somewhat even.* Over childhood and into adolescence, growth spurts happen, coordination improves, and general improvement in a sport happen, so why pigeonhole kids into the "have and have nots" so early???

*When I say even, I general mean, when I was a kid, I remember the teams being drafted, each team taking a turn. Therefore one team couldn't stack talent in town to beat down everyone else, even though that sometimes did happen by luck of the draw.

2 Random Questions...

Bomani Jones is getting his own tv show in Jan, but left Highly Questionable already.. Why is this?

Second question, with all the Drama over at FS1.. Does this lock up that Katie Nolan shows up on ESPN when her contract is done?

I always viewed Danny, Jesse and Brock Huard as the same guy.. White Qb's who have the same take on most topics.. Don't see anyone noticing Jesse replacing Danny

It's ironic that I wished for years that Mark May would go away, when it finally does... they replace him with Booger McFarland. Be careful what you wish for.

He said once on his radio show that there were 3-4 years of his career where he was the best DT in the game. Lol

ESPN must have cut their proof readers as well. LoL

Chicago Cubs giving World Series ring to Steve Bartman

Trying to finally put the "Bartman play" to rest, the Chicago Cubs have decided to award the beleaguered fan an official World Series ring.

Steve Bartman, wearing glasses, headphones and a Cubs hat, reached out and deflected a foul ball along the left-field wall during Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS. Left-fielder Moises Alou jumped up and down in protest, thinking he could have caught the ball. The Cubs went on to squander a lead in that game as the Marlins tied the series and then lost Game 7 to continue the franchise's epic World Series drought.

The Cubs put all that history to rest last season, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers for their first title in 108 years.

Bartman's statement is interesting... poor guy clearly held onto a lot and has waited for a moment to let some of it out... not that I blame him.

Sadly, I think he endured way more than he should have. He didn't "cost" the Cubs their chance at winning. He was simply the one that close to 100 years of disappointment was directed to. Cubs fans should embrace him now more than ever.

I bet the Cubs want to have as a special guest the way the saux did with Buckner... From what I know I doubt Bartman agrees to anything big like that.

Yup.

They're really testing/relying on the market of people that said "who wants nothing but video? I'd pay for good CFB reporting."

alot of formerly free/hosted podcasts have gone the independent/paywall model. seems like it is working for folks and this is the way to go for sports journalists.

ESPN had just one o-lineman in their top 50 college players 2017 and it wasn't McGlinchey or Nelson. No Notre Dame players.

Yeah I saw that. No love for the big uglies. The list appeared to be heavily weighted to skill players. Not totally surprised that things would skew that way, but to leave out OL almost entirely is a joke.

Of the top 10 draft picks of the assessed players, however, for the NFL draft, 5 to 6 of them will probably be offensive or defensive lineman...

My favorite part is the typo in the graphic. There's an extra space in between the quotation mark and the T.
