ESPN is going to get rekt in the ratings this week. The 3:30 slate of games includes PSU at OSU on FOX, NC State at ND on NBC, and Georgia at Florida on CBS.

Didn't realize this game was on Fox, also ESPN's rival.
That dispells the myth they won't do gameday at NBC because NBC.

It's definitely a consideration, but not a rule. They were on campus last for Stanford 2012.
Big Ten takes poorly-timed back seat to World Series in new FOX deal, but had to know that was possibility
World Series Game 4 is Saturday night, so 3:30 is "prime time" this week, for all intents and purposes.

I don't even think it's a myth. Gameday would prefer to prime an ESPN game, but they'll go to ND if it's the biggest matchup between highly ranked teams.
It was just unlucky that our biggest games in '14 (FSU) and '15 (Clemson) were on the road. Those were our best chances at Gameday coverage since '12, when the Stanford game had Gameday in town.

Yeah I wouldn’t catagorize it as a myth either. It also makes complete sense logistically. When they do Gameday at a game they are not broadcasting, they have to fly a whole crew out of one city and into another with a few hours notice. It certainly can be done and is done multiple times a year, but would not be anyone’s preference. Imagine the logistics with college towns like Notre Dame? Most national reporters fly into and stay in Chicago. Just getting their in time is a struggle.
