Could just be the camera angle, but Jaylon looks JACKED in this picture. Not sure if he's been putting on weight lately or not, but he looks as big as Day.

Interesting stat that Coach D threw out today. All other 5 star LB's from Jaylon's class combined for 61 tackles last year, a little more than half of Jaylons total. He's about to go full beast mode on CFB.

Agree, I think he's going to have a ridiculous season.

No, I meant Thomas. You guys must be pups not to know who Derrick Thomas is.
Or we wanted to give you an out because you just compared a college player to one of the greatest pass rushers of all time. I thought you could have meant Thomas but didn't want to presume.

Well most players watching tape of this wouldn't learn much because they couldn't make that play even if they did their job. That was a very well executed play by the offense but Jaylon has outrageous closing speed. He's possibly the only linebacker in the country that could have done that.

He is getting a lot of love despite his poor second half of the season once Schmidt went down, but i think he deserves the praise. I expect big things coming from him.

Poor second half of a season?

Jaylon Smith won All-American honors (second team!)

He had over 100 tackles.

And with almost every other starter from the beginning of the season out, with a defensive scheme that required sophisticated team-work, other teams began running right at him!

These tapes are enough to get me ready for football; but the thing I like second best about Jaylon is his attitude. He got left out their last year with little help at times, the target of every teams best, and he never complained, or looked sad, or whined. He just attacked.

My favorite thing about Jaylon, of course is his birth date :

Happy Birthday Jaylon! Sunday, June 14, 2015!

No out needed. I was comparing the mental, physical traits and attributes. I wonder how the two college stats compare?

It's all about having correct alignment and another productive ILB so teams can't scheme him out of the play like they did many times in the second half of the season. This is also why a lot of people on here argue against him getting reps at SAM because of his fantastic play from the WILL position as an ILB.

I'm very interested to see what happens if we move him around and let him get after the passer more with that athleticism... could really be a weapon if our DEs/DTs aren't getting the job done. Our best pass rushing option last year was taking the SAM off the field for Farley in nickel and letting him rush off the edge on occasion.

He bailed out Schmidt on that one clip where he was getting pancaked by a TE lol.

yeah that wasn't pretty! Didn't help either that Onwualu bull rushed right into Rochell causing him to fall over and lose contain
