You can't say our program is not special and then point out the treatment we get is "borderline cheating." Either we are special and that's why we get the treatment they construe as unfair, or we aren't special and the NCAA has no one to blame but itself for our perceived sweet deal.

For the record, the OU poster who has written in nearly every thread on here today actually wrote an e-mail to the writer, and the writer chose his. OUMallen (this is confirmed as him on LandTheives.com...)

Matthew Allen, Oklahoma City: “As a younger OU fan, my dislike for Notre Dame stems from the following: They're killing us in the series; they bookend The Streak; they are the benefactors of some of the most unfair, antitrust violating, undeserved, borderline cheating treatment out of any program ever. Their SPECIAL BCS rules are the biggest scam happening in college football right now, and people act like it's just A-OK. Like it's a part of the landscape. Why do they get better rules than everyone else? Why don't people talk about this more?”

I actually had respect for some of his football knowledge until I discovered this nonsense.

These fans are some of the dumbest around. I thought UM fans were bad but man o man. These guys have no grasp of anything. Our special BCS rules. OU wouldn't have these rules if they were independent? Thats what I don't get. All these schools want us to join a conference because they are in a conference, no other reason. Yet they would, most of them, would get the same treatment if they were independent.

Fans make all that "Special" happen. ...whine all ya want but even after 20 years of struggling, ND is No 3 in victories all time...Texas is above us...and I recall they get some pretty special treatment inside THAT conference ...No? If Texas were indy maybe they get similar "Special" treatment. Hate all ya want youngster...but there is a path to "Special"...look around OU nation son...see anyone with a Sooner hat in NYC, Tampa, Atlanta, Boston, LA, Seattle, etc., etc. There are ND hats around Norman...never seen a OU hat in South Bend. Fans son...lots of fans. You get fans by being a winner over multiple generations of human existance, and by doing it the right way. You could take this message to Rick Reilly as well, and you can sit next to one another, suck your thumbs, and hope like hell OU wins Saturday to add a little justification for your mutual hate...If ND wins...that which you hate grows even STRONGER.

BTW, I like OU...think Stoops runs a good program. I love that we are playing OU. I think OU has a great team this year, and like us battled through some ugly adversity.

So basically... they don't like that we beat them (understandable), and they don't like that we're treated as basically our own conference within the BCS (sorta not really understandable).

The keeping the Big 12 together thing was ridiculous though. As was the hating Notre Dame because we're a good academic institution... why would you hate someone for that!?!? The "couple inches" thing and the "over-hype" are the two most ridiculously incorrect 'reasons' for being a hater... in the grand scheme of things, for every good call we've gotten we get a bad one (fumble call vs. Miami => phantom clip vs. Colorado, GL stand against Stanford => TD "catch" for BYU, etc. etc. etc.) and statistics straight up prove that we are, over the past decade or so when people like to talk about the "over-hype," FAR AND AWAY less overrated than FSU, Oklahoma, etc. year in and year out based on pre-season projections compared to regular season results. That line of hating frustrates me because you have to be downright stupid to believe it.

Nailed it.

Necroing a thread, mostly because it didn't fit in the other ESPN threads.

So, I'm watching CFB Daily Thursday and they're discussing the 10 SEC teams that are in the Top 25 (Cause, SEC, I get it). The host, I think it was Jason Sehorn but I don't recall for sure, was asking the question "Do all of these teams from the SEC deserve to be in the Top 25?" One of the rotating analysts said probably not and gave some good reasons, but not before saying "It's still early," which it is. The other analyst though, a younger woman with dark hair (Didn't catch her name) made the case that the SEC has proved their worth over the last several years, and even though some teams like LSU have yet to play, or they've played lackluster opponents, they deserve to be in the Top 25. Sure lady, whatever. That SEC bowl record last year and the pounding of FCS/Sun Belt caliber teams in week one (Save for 'Bama's crusihing of Wisconsin and A&M over ASU) certainly warranted all 10 of those teams to be ranked.

Fast forward just a few minutes later and they're discussing ND. The host is talking about our ranking, looking impressive, etc. Bitch starts in "They haven't done anything yet, I'm not sure they deserve to be ranked," etc, etc. I know Texas is down, but holy hell...you can't have it both ways, lady. Either a team earned their spot to be in the stupid early polls, or they're merely placeholders till everything shakes out, make up your fucking mind! I realize ND is taking a spot that an 11th SEC team could be using instead, but lets let teams get to their conference schedule before we bitch who is ranked and how high. A lot of these teams, like A&M last year, will show their true colors the closer we get to October.

It was Elika Sadeghi, formerly of Eleven Warriors. She's a shameless Buckeye.

Bitch needs a good spanking... She's pretty, but not hot enough for that kind of opinions. Sorry.

She's one of the top trolls employed by ESPN right now. The other day I was watching her and Seehorn do a segment that was moderated by some other host and she was billed as the "social media expert" of ESPN...

What was painful is that she tried so hard to be edgy/smart and it actually came off as embarrassing. None of her jokes landed. None of her opinions really made sense. I didn't know she was a Buckeye but now a lot of the Urban Meyer fellatio adds up (to be fair, with how good Ohio State is I sort of think all of that is justified from any analyst from any network).

The worst was a joke she tried after a question about Harbaugh. It was like "there are three kinds of coaches... psychopaths, psychopaths that have learned to reign it in in order to convince moms and dads to send their kid to their school, and then coaches who haven't won and won't win a national championship." HAR HAR HAR. It had terrible delivery, and furthermore doesn't make sense. Mack Brown is a psychopath? Gene Chizik?

Anytime you can tell an ESPN personality has a personal agenda, I stop watching. That became a waste of time around adulthood. I wish all of the fools that take ESPN for gold (not saying you guys besides Wiz;)) would realize this.

Unbiased #HotTake - Paul Finebaum has actually been one of the best national analysts on the air this season. If you ever actually watch or listen to his show, he spends more time bashing crazy SEC fans than agreeing with them. He's very knowledgeable about all things SEC and college football in general.

I'm deliberately not responding to comments on some of the other analysts... Take from that what you will.

Eh, fuck ESPN. I haven't watched them, other than games, in two years. I don't have cable so if a game is on ESPN that I want to watch I find a bar. My life enjoyment has gone up exponentially without ESPN.

Are you sure he's not just taking the points? It's not like the team has a great record against the spread.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

I think that's against the spread. No way he picked Vandy straight up over Georgia. No way.

I wouldn't be surprised if we fail to cover a 12 point spread in the rain on the road against a good defense.

I think he has Virginia covering the spread.
See also the "Bear" from GameDay (I forget his name) saying that Virginia is a good bet against Notre Dame to win outright. It's a good bet because it's paying 4 to 1, not because Virginia is more likely to win.

As far as SEC guys go, I really like McCelroy and Finebaum this year, even if I don't agree with what they say at times. I personally don't judge an analyst on how much I agree with them, I try to judge them on charisma/delivery, insightfulness, and intellectual honesty. I think ESPN has far too many guys that are lacking in the third category, but some other guys I really like are Rece Davis, SVP, Ryan Russilo, Pollack, and Herbie. Davis you would never even know went to Alabama unless you looked it up.
