What’s frustrating is that he did have an elite trait his first year as a starter. His decision making and ability to take what the defense gave him was S tier. He took a big regression on that last year and it doesn’t appear better so far this year.
I think it's a mix of things for Book. He's deficient in a lot of ways, and I think 2018 played more to his strengths. He had both Boykin and Claypool which was a terrific #1 and #2 WR option. Finke was a suitable #3 in 2018, but he wasn't legit #2 last year. It's early, but I don't see Tremble as impressive either.
IDK, Book is never going to be a deep ball slinger, but I think if they use the right mix of WRs he'll look better. Sorry, but Skowronek and McKinley are going to cut it. Not dynamic guys and very little separation. AD made a good catch in the end zone, but I'm unsure of him given all his bouncing around over the years. I have to believe that Lenzy, Wilkins, Austin, Keys, and Johnson get better separation, and gives Book better targets to overcome his deficiencies. And add Mayer getting more reps than Tremble at TE, and Jafar getting more targets as a satellite guy. And the OL simply needs to play better in both phases. If we can't run between the tackles, that's not good for Book passing either.
