If Trump voters were animated by “traditional GOP values” in 2016, they would’ve voted for Ted Cruz or Rubio or someone like that. Instead they nominated a non-politician, who was barely even a Republican for most of his life, who said all the outrageous things typical politicians never say and promised to blow up the system, drain the swamp, take on the elites, blah blah blah.

Trump ran as a populist. Just like Bernie. They may have different diagnoses of the problems facing our country and how to fix them. But fundamentally they and many (not all) of their voters see the root of the problem as a “corrupt” and disconnected establishment that doesn’t do enough to help everyday Americans. There’s a reason they both went at Hillary Clinton so hard.

It’ll be very interesting to see if Biden can overcome that.

No establishment Repub has really accomplished anything along traditional GOP values in quite a while. If anything, they continue to lose ground and are going left themselves. Traditional GOP values doesn't equate to status quo traditional candidate.

Populist? Every politician "says" they are for the ordinary man when they are running. Only exception is when some dumb asses call half of them deplorable while carrying hot sauce around trying to attract the other half. And Trump's populist notions were interwoven with nationalism and capitalism, while Bernie is interwoven with globalism and socialism.

IMO, Trump and Sanders (and their bases) see very different "problems". They are both going after the unhappy ordinary man, but all politicians do that. Trump just isn't attacking the rich as an answer to making the ordinary man happy. But yes, both sides are "unhappy".

The GOP had too many establishment candidates. Trump also was a snowball rolling downhill. He's also Donald Trump. His ability to destroy his enemies with nicknames was legendary.

I wanted Ted but we don't always get what we want.

Someone just needs to take poor Uncle Joe home and let him rest. It's cruel to push this on someone with early onset dementia.

Biden is definitely dragging. It's painful to see.

So Biden, in TX tonight, called creepy Beto on stage, and told him he was going to put Beto in charge of gun control. Beto if you don't remember, wants to seize all assault rifles.

Even when he can mange to say what he actually wants to say, he just can't help being dumb.

This shit all started when Cleveland won the championship in 2016. Space time split and we got stuck in the dud timeline. The Cubs won the WS, then Trump gets elected, and now here we are. Stuck picking between 3 different flavors of insane.

With that single move, he just lost a ton of potential votes.
Truly amazing how stupid people can be.

In the primary or the general? He's not worried about the general right now.

One place he really stands out versus Bernie among Democratic primary voters is gun control. So that was a calculated move towards the base.

I just voted in Virginia. Voted for Biden because I'm not a fan of Marxism, and I'm not going to vote for someone who wants to destroy my entire way of life. This is binary Bernie or Not-Bernie at this point. If Bernie had been disavowing his surrogates and "Bernie Bros" and moderating his positions I would have strongly considered voting for him... instead, he has shown his true colors praising Castro, etc.

There is some strong early buzz that Biden is about to drastically outperform his polls on Super Tuesday. While Biden is a gaffe machine who is clearly not in his sharpest mental state, I trust him to surround himself with smart people and listen to them. I also trust him to have a strong moral compass and protect American interests. He seems to be on track to be a one term president who will then step aside for a younger generation -- hopefully guys like Yang and Buttigieg, not people like AOC -- and we need a return to normal American politics.

If Bernie wins nomination, I will vote for Trump. No commies in the White House.

I voted for Warren this morning, because I believe she would make the best president, by far. She’s smart as hell, strong on issues that matter to me and the right mix of progressive and practical, in my opinion (which I’m aware is not widely shared around here).

I realize she’s quite unlikely to win, in which case I’m totally fine with Biden. He’s a decent man who’ll appeal to the moderates Democrats need to take back the White House. And yeah he’s too old but I trust him to surround himself with good people and serve as a one-term president. I very much hope he prevails over Bernie.

If he does, then this will come down to Bernie Bros and other lefty True Believers being willing to lay down their arms and vote for Biden against Trump. If they can’t do that, they’re even more stupid than they seem.

This is everything the Dems could come up with? Whoever wins the WH will run into opposition from a divided Congress.

Both. Bloomberg softened his approach on guns yesterday at the town hall, and said basically he wasn't coming after guns and only wanted to apply checks to gun shows, etc. Now Biden is embracing an "I'm coming to get your guns" narrative. I know plenty of dems who are gun peeps, and simply won't vote for a candidate that's coming after their guns. Won't play well in the South.

In short, it just wasn't needed. He's not going to get Bern Bro voters by being tougher on guns. Now gun dems might go Bloomberg. And in the general, you better believe Trump will pound him with that. Just totally stupid and unnecessary.

Worth repeating. I am in favor of:

- red flag laws for judicial decision with 72 hours
- universal background checks

Others:
- AR 15 owners keep their existing semi, but stop manufacturing or selling new ones.
- No bump stocks (already done?)
- No high capacity magazines

Positioning For A Convention Draft?

Positioning For A Convention Draft?

Today is obviously a big day. I’m just watching and hoping that we nominate whoever is the strongest candidate to take out the current incumbent. That’s the only thing that really matters at the end of the day.

The plot thickens.

Angela Landsbury rumored to be coming out of retirement to play in her greatest thriller.

Dems unify behind Biden to lock out a Bernie disaster.

Hillary agrees to a plea deal with DOJ. Granted full Immunity, The Server investigation is terminated & Hillary supplies
sealed evidence in the Epstein scandal.

Biden wins 2020 delegates but withdraws at convention for health reasons.

For the good of the nation, the nomination by acclimation is accepted by Hillary "The Server" Rodham who accepts the nomination only if the Clinton name is dropped.

Putin's 'Puter Folks restore The Blue Wall on Election Day sweeping the First Russian Operative into the White House.

In the First Hundred Days President Rodham transfers the funds from The Wall to The Bering Strait Friendship Bridge.

"The Russian Candidate", starring Angela Landsbury, as the first genderfluid American president, opens in Moscow.

Sanders is appointed as Chief Justice.

Well Biden just gave Bernie a swift kick in the nuts that he didn't see coming. I wasn't sure Biden would do that well, but it shows you that the regular Dem isn't ready to have their paychecks confiscated to pay for "free" healthcare and payoff someone else's student loans. Bernie really needs to grab Cali or he may be like that horse that comes out of the gate fast and leads for 3/4 of the race only to fade when it counts.

When you place third in your home state, that speaks volumes. Warren has stopped circling the drain and has officially went down the pipe. The question is, "Is she too stubborn and narcissistic to stay in or accept reality?"

Doomberg? Attaboy Mike. Spend millions and millions to win American Samoa. Take your seat next to Steyer.

Bernie has one shot -- the next debate -- to take down Biden. If he misses that shot, it's over. Especially if Warren stays in or doesn't endorse Bernie.
