Yeah some of the older fanbase dress like dorks, but you're right about the passion the fans have for the team. We have been setting attendance records like crazy over the last ten years even in the later Paul Rhoads years, which were pretty brutal. Now we have coach Campbell, and everyone loves him and believes he is going to continue to build Iowa State into a solid football program.Went to a bowl game about a decade ago that Iowa State played in, and every ISU fan over 25 had the exact same outfit:
-Jorts
-Cell phone clipped to belt
-Bowl shirts instead of regular team shirts
The game was NYE evening, it was legitimately cold for AZ standards, and those guys ran up and down Mill Ave all night after the game in those jorts and it was probably 40 degrees or colder. They played Minnesota, and even those people were dressed appropriately.
*Fun crowd though. They really love their team, and are passionate about them. Have that little brother in the state chip on shoulder that Purdue, MSU, Auburn, etc have

Welcome to the board. We like opposing viewpoints so long as they are polite... and so long as you can survive the ribbing by many of the posters.Yeah some of the older fanbase dress like dorks, but you're right about the passion the fans have for the team. The ISU o-line have played really well in some games this year and have only given up 14 sacks through 12 games, but the Notre Dame pass rush makes me very nervous. I like the secondary you guys have. ISU could end up having a really hard time moving the ball. I do like the way ISU's defense matches up against your offense though. I'm expecting a close game with both teams scoring in the low 20's.
Cheers

I've tailgated with a ton of SEC fans from just about every school. They're all pretty fun unless it's a rivalry game and it's a big game record/ranking wise. ACC are pretty fun too.Tailgated for years wit TN fans. Great bunch.

8. BROCK PURDY, IOWA STATE CYCLONES
Year: Sophomore
Purdy has shown mastery of the Iowa State offense well beyond his years after an 88.0 passing grade last season and 82.5 this season. His pocket presence is especially impressive. On 496 dropbacks behind a shoddy Iowa State offensive line, Purdy has taken only 15 sacks.
Bowl matchup: Notre Dame in the Camping World Bowl
L'Ville fans were hit and miss. Like a lot of fan bases, some were really cool but others were just pricks. Not sure if they were thrown off by the number of green shirts roaming around or if they were cranky from Petrino.
Been to Knoxville for a couple games, they are a good group of fans. I'm a closet Volunteer fan, not enough to get invested but enough that I pull for them. Wish they'd get back to being relevant, maybe the momentum they built in the second half of their season (albeit against a pretty weak schedule) will carry into next season. Wonder how they'll fare against IU

The L'Ville bartender serving me after getting booted from the stadium was definitely hit!!!
Your random text messages to the group as you were getting thrown out were hilarious though.I've partied with some Ville fans out at the bars post game and had a blast.
Yeah, next time come to the tailgate like you're supposed to and we would have had plenty of beer, vodka, and whiskey for yaYour random text messages to the group as you were getting thrown out were hilarious though.
This year's game? Shoulda told us you were gonna be there!
Nah, it was many moons ago. Mid 90s I think. Haven't been to a game in a couple years. Almost all my personal travel and vacation have revolved around my mom who is fighting health issues. Will definitely ping you when I'm back in the game.

It's college football. Any team can be beaten badly on any given day. See us vs Michigan, Bama vs Clemson, OSU vs Purdue, etc...Iowa State is too good to be beaten badly. I'll be satisfied with whatever win we can get.
I DO believe that Book will really roll though --- we just have to cut him a little slack --- not every drive can be Drew Brees.
What we really need is some genius by Clark Lea. I expect ISU to march on its first and second drives behind that QB and special plays. THEN I hope that our DC genius gets the game by the throat.

If ISU marches on their first two drives they will have reversed a trend that led to so many close games. They consistently struggled in the 1st (& sometimes 4th) quarter(s) this season. They find their rhythm in the 2nd & 3rd. But it’s a bowl game so who the hell knows!?

So you're hoping he gives us what he's given us basically every game as a DC?
If Book rolls, then the team will roll.
Not to be an ass, but Michigan says hi.
We have a couple of Bama fans on here who post all the time. We welcome other fans. Just a word of warning. This board likes substance and facts, so if you're posting based on a hunch or gut feeling, you better state that right up front.
Now for those of use who are not familiar with ISU's FB program fill us in. Who's the best player on D & O? What area is the weakest link?
