SP+ projected a 3 point win, and FEI a 6 point win. We won by 24. The next largest MOV in an ISU loss this year was only 10 against Kansas State. This is the same Cyclones team that lost by a mere 4 points combined to Iowa, Baylor and Oklahoma.

Pretty sure the advanced metrics will classify that as an "elite" performance, regardless of how little credit the voters give us. Aside from one bad day in the Big House during a torrential downpour, we have been a top-10 team all year, and we deserve to be ranked that way in the final poll.

The big question: do we have time for him to improve? He will, but should we take the risk?

Really tough call, and I’m sure it’ll be second guessed if things aren’t perfect. With the returning talent and new recruits, people will be thinking of another 11 win year or better and much more consistency on offense. My choice would be to go get a proven guy and make the most out of the situation. Assuming things go well with a HR hire, the OC leaves after 2 years of success anyway. That is when Tommy may deserve a shot. This is ND, not an also-ran. Can’t afford to risk the mojo to take a chance on a very unproven young coordinator. Just because Lea worked out, doesn’t mean much for Rees. Either way, the OC should have all the pieces to have success

Good to see Kareem back in the game. How’s Kmet and would that possible injury make him want to leave for sure?

Not to take away from ND's performance, but I would liken ISU to a good Mountain West team at best. The Big 12 is always overrated so I think ISU was given too much credit for their close loses in conference.

Both SP+ and FEI had ISU ranked in the low 20s. That was a much better team than their brand and (lack of) poll ranking indicated. Though I fully expect the voters to dismiss this win for the reasons you listed above.

Other then the running game I didn’t see really anything that stood out from Tommy. The only good thing if he names Tommy the OC is that he always has people to lean on. He has BK, Quinn, and Taylor that can help him in many ways.

The first running play of the 2nd half was assignment blocking... straight ahead... couple of great blocks from TE's on the corner..

Rees was pulling guards and tackles (Long-style) in the first quarter/Mid-way through the 2nd.... and he stopped that and started running based on one-on-one blocking..

That was a great adjustment - Long never changed his play-calling... Rees did and the result was top running yards in a bowl game for the Irish..

Rees did very well

Beat ISU worse than anyone this year (by a country mile) and some ND fans saying “not good enough” is so classic.

So Keys saw zero action?

He was the receiver in the failed philly special play. It was Finke’s last game. What did you expect? He should start unless Brunelle or Watts come in and show out as EE’s

Im sure it's already been said but just think what the score would have been if we were focused!!!

We might have held them scoreless!

Nervous as hell and wish our reward for the end of the year wasn’t a glorified advertisement. That being said 11-2 with wins over USC, Va Tech, Virginia, and at Stanford means we had a damn good year. Let’s hope next year’s reward is just a little sweeter.

Great ending to a great season. Program is clicking, going into off season with momentum and confidence, finish off recruiting, and hopefully find a top notch OC. Hats off to coaches and players, see you in Dublin.

Even though they were close losses, ISU was a 5 loss team coming into the game meaning they didn’t know how to win the close games. Purdy racked up his numbers against the Big 12 who can’t even spell defense let alone play it. We had a much more talented and physical team and it showed. Great way to show the bowl committees they screwed up.

2020 looks very bright.

I don’t wanna jinx it but Bowls in Orlando have led to undefeated seasons the following years.....if such is the case hopefully we can finally take care of our business in the post season.

Kudos to Kelly, the staff and players for showing up and beating the hell out of that coaching guru Matt Campbell.

Good overall effort and performance through all quarters.

I guess the bad practice narrative was clickbait...

It should. Whether it does or not probably depends on whether teams in front of us that lose lose close or lose ugly. I’d bet not quite enough of them lose ugly and we wind up 11 or 12.

Overall the best way that could have gone. Wu was great. Lea is the best. Was not crazy about the play calling especially in the first quarter. Uninspired. I want to like Pride but it seemed he was getting beat all year. Finally, the run blocking is miserable. Looking forward to next year
