Guys,
I think Kelly and crew are doing a superb job in recruiting, but I do have some concerns around our DE/DT recruiting. I see that currently we have one pur DE, Isaac Roshell. We have another kid we are going to try to make DE in Matuska. However, we lose KLM after 2012. We lose both Scwenke and Tuitt after next season. Likely Nix will jump to the NFL after next season also. That leaves some HUGE holes to fill.
It is rare to find a Tuitt or Nix who will be able to dominate as underclassmen. So, we should be after replacements in the current recruiting class. For those of you telling me that Tuitt is only going to be a junior next season, I know!! BUT, the kid is likely to be a Top 10 NFL pick after next season if his play continues to grow. Mel Kiper is already drooling over the kid. His teammates call him the FREAK because of his size and athletism.
I know the class is getting full, but I would be going over the limit if I were Kelly. This is for several reasons. First, we are likely to lose some kid late who decides the offer at some SEC school or a USC is too good to pass. Second, we are likely to have another transfer or player just leave. Look at this year, Prestwood, Lynch and Sheppard. Third, a medical is always going to happen to someone. This year, we had two. If I am correct, we are now down to 75-76 scholarship players with all the defections and losses.
