Most places are saying it is a done deal, Dempster for Delgado. Cubs getting a good young pitcher with a lot of upside. Dont like the deal for Atlanta unless they are able to reup Dempster for a 2-3 year deal at a very reasonable price. Dont like the idea of giving up good young pitching for a 2-3 month rental.

Someone at the AJC.com site said that it is being reported Dempster vetoed the trade, saying he wants to go to the Dodgers. But I can find nothing else saying this, so dont know for sure what is happening at this stage.

Braves have a lot of young pitching in their system though, and I have seen a few places that think Dempster would sign with them because of his familiarity with Frank Wren.

Yep. ESPN is saying he did tweet there is no deal in place. But that may mean simply that there is not deal done YET. You are correct about Dempster liking Atlanta as I recall him saying that Atlanta was one of the places he would agree to a trade. So it may simply be a matter of dotting the i's and crossing the t's to finalize a deal. Not likely he would change his mind and veto the trade. And if he does agree to extend with the Braves for 2-3 more years, I would be OK with it as a Braves fan. Cubs will like Delgado I think. Young with a lot of upside. A very solid middle of the rotation player at a very young age.

It looks like Jackson is not being called up after all. Maybe he was slated for call up if Soriano was traded. I sure hope he can stay in the minors a bit longer. Excellent prospect but is struggling in AAA. Through 101 games, he has 150 strikeouts which would place him in a tie with Adam Dunn for worst in the league if he were in the majors.

Used to be wild but had one of the nastiest sliders in the game

Now he is still wild and his slider is nothing special.

He was unhittable at times. I guess a blown save here and there hurt his confidence and he just spiraled downhill. He can't find the plate and when he does he gets rocked. Gotta be a mental issue with him.
