I may bleed cubbie blue, but I think the Padres have a right to be pissed about Rizzo's slide last night.

Skip said he should have hit em so that's that. Madden's always right. Someone might catch one in the ribs tonight and Rizzo will buy him a steak dinner. Problem solved.

solid timing for this. minor league all star break is soon, as well as mlb. so he can go down get some actual work in, more at bats and not miss a week of big league ball. Hopefully kyle finds his way back up quickly.

Starting to become like another #12 who could hit the ball a mile perhaps?

Ricky's averages absolutely SUCK compared to Rizzo's at lead off.

#StatLinesMatter

Ha!! His job is to get on and score runs. NO ONE did that better than Rickey. I am not going to even compare Rizzo's 8 games at Lead Off. He holds records in Most Stolen Bases, Most Runs Scored, Most Games Led off with a home run, most unintentional walks, most seasons leading league in stolen bases, 3055 hits, 10 time allstar, and with a career 401 on base percentage I think speak for themselves as the greatest leadoff hitter of all time.

Just calm down Sully, you don't think any of us truly believe that Rizzo is a better lead off hitter than Ricky?

It's just been fun to see what he's done in the last 8 games. Forgive us for having fun.

Oh i know you are. Some of my friends legitimately have been trying to make the argument and are dead serious. They also just jumped on the bandwagon last year or year prior as well.

they need pitching help... I would trade Happ if it meant getting Verlander... I don't care if Cubs need to eat his contract...

The problem isn't just his contract, it's that right now he's an average pitcher who is 34 years old and is on the decline. No way in hell I would trade Happ for Verlander right now. Can he right the ship? I'm sure it's possible, but this year Verlander's stats for BB/9, K/BB, WHIP and the % of balls that are hit hard are all the worst for any full season that he's been in the majors. If he could string together 4 or 5 strong appearances in a row, they might get some takers, but until that happens, I don't see any team giving the Tigers what they would need for them to trade the favorite son of the organization.

I would rather the Cubs trade for a younger arm.

I would have left Schwarber in AAA until after the ASG. As far as pitching, I don't really know what to do. I wouldn't trade for Verlander. His days of being an ace are over, as are Arrieta's. We need younger starters. The staff got old real quick this year. I hoped Montgomery was going to be the answer at the #5 spot but he's really inconsistent and got f'ing rocked today. Unless they get hot before the trade deadline I think I stay out and keep the team intact. Arrieta and Lackey are off the books after this season and I don't see either one coming back. There's going to be a lot of money to spend this offseason. Just my opinion. I do have faith in Theo though, I'm sure he's all over this.

Quintana makes a lot of sense for the Cubs, but the Sox are going to want a ton in return if the Yankees and Dodgers are interested. Even if there aren't many offers for him, I'd bet they hold him like they did Sale last year, rather than give him up for nothing.

It'll be interesting.

The Arrieta thing is crazy to watch, he went from below average to completely dominant for a couple years to now just whatever.

My buddy who's a big A's fan just got back from the A's White Sox series and said the rumor up there is Schwarber for Sonny Gray.

Another possibility for a lefty is Sean Manaea from the A's. He's 7-4 with a 3.75 ERA and doesn't hit arbitration till '19. He's also from NW Ind. Grew up near Valpo.

IMO, the Cubs need to get Jason Vargas from KC. A cheap lefty on the last year of his contract who is 12-3 with a 2.6x ERA.

Oh the irony of a white Sox fan in wisconsin

Lol I grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois and lived their for 15 years. I grew up in the North Suburbs and was a White Sox's fan. Besides a World Series what have they given me to root for?

Please explain the Irony in that

What the hell are you doing on an ND board then? Or why are you a Bears fan? Or why do you still like the Bulls?

You should be a Hawks fan and nothing else.

Spoiled azz millennials.

Really hoping they go this route, need young team controlled arms.
