Does anyone think that Charlie Weis Jr. gets a look to replace Kiffin if he departs the program? Or, does Weis Jr. need some seasoning as HC at a program like FAU first?
No idea but just going by his age & experience, I’d say he needs some seasoning. It’s what kept Rees from being a HC a few years ago IMO

Several sources from AL.com to SI are saying that Tulane HC Jonathan Sumrall will be Auburn's next coach.

During Sampson’s podcast tonight, he mentioned Stanford talking to an ND coach about its opening. Who do we think that is? I would think Denbrock since he’s been there before.

He’s never been a head coach before. Surprisingly. I’d be shocked if he wanted to try to rebuild a program at 61 years old. He essentially can ride his ND gig into his retirement if he wants and delivers the goods.

Mickens is an obvious name. But a surprise name could be Max Bullough.

I don't want Auburn to do well in football, and I thought they'd have to take some coordinator and cross their fingers, but Sumrall would be a good hire for almost anyone.
They're still Auburn tho, can't forget that. Which reminds me, I saw these license plates out here last week. What kind of an abomination is this? And why does the state of Georgia allow this?

Heck, half the country thinks Auburn's in Georgia. When they hired Chizik from Iowa St. the Cedar Rapids newspaper initially reported that he was taking the head coaching job at Auburn, which was located in Georgia. It's a running joke in Alabama (much to the annoyance of the Auburn folks) that they're in Georgia. I saw a poll a few years ago that showed something like 25% of the CFB fans thought that's where they were.

Portland St fired their coach.

Whittingham really sounded like he was done at Utah last night. No news there, yet, tho.

Al Washington was a candidate for BC the last time it opened (he went there). Stanford has a similar profile, maybe him?

A Denbrock tie to Stanford is that he was an assistant there under Willingham.

I’ve seen plates like that in other states as well. If someone is willing to pay, then the state revenue office will gladly accept your money.

Buddy is going to have to sell a lot of mid chicken to teenagers to buy Lane out in five years…
LSU thinking it’s still pre-NIL era and only a handful of SEC teams are paying players. They are going to realize you need more than just money to pay players when everyone can do it. LSU isn’t the greatest place to be when you have others that can offer just as much money and have a better culture.

PSU’s interim coach supporting a coach that allowed child rapists on his staff. He seems to fit in that university perfectly.

And the players were lobbying for him to get the HC job after their game.

LSU probably has the strongest recruiting pull on the best in-state turf of any major power. There are other states with comparable/better high school talent but no one owns them anymore the way LSU owns Louisiana. That's a huge built-in advantage, but it feels like maybe they've come to over-rely on it.

What they have to do is expand beyond Louisiana (and maybe eastern Texas), much the way Ohio State eventually went national in their recruiting. IDK if Lane's the guy to do that, but a $25M NIL warchest certainly won't hurt.

It would be so easy for them to fence in the state and then pull who they want from East Texas and Mississippi and then they could sprinkle in a few dudes from elsewhere.

I couldn't imagine MD walking away from a Heisman level QB on a perennial top 5 playoff team.....to go rebuild Stanford at 61.

What are the odds Stanford just goes ahead and hires Frank Reich? Honestly feels like he’s a fit there with Luck at the helm.

This makes the most sense because it's the easiest move. Stanford IMO is going to get swallowed in this new landscape. I get Vandy, they have some momentum in a big conference. But Stanford 🤮worst situation ever IMO
