Does anyone think Ole Miss AD and Board could actually do this out of frustration with Kiffin's lack of transparency and to protect the program which could be left hanging dangerously without a HC in late December or January?

Ole Miss Could Fire Lane Kiffin Before College Football Playoff

I don't remember the details around Kiffin being fired by The Raiders in the NFL but apparently one reason was his "lack of concern for his contract with the team."
I get what they're saying, but the idea they would fire Kiffin before the playoffs comes from the delusion on the OM side that their success is driven more by them as an institution, when it's very clearly driven by Lane Kiffin. Sure, firing him in the next week or so could could position them better for a HC next year, but it would undo any chance they have at doing anything significant in the playoffs. From my perspective the chance at OM to make a deep run in the playoffs is a greater incentive than maybe snagging the 5th or 6th best HC on the market.

And FWIW, the smoke on the UF and LSU side is that Lane wants to coach through the playoffs, so it doesn't seem like he's looking to ditch them now.

Surely nobody thinks this is real, right? How do so many people fall for obviously fake/trolling/parody tweets? Same guy posted this too lol

Edit: lol nvm, KPENN beat me to it. Pretty funny to read from some of the Clemson fans who took the bait.

I'm not believing any of the Lane Kiffin stuff until he's actually standing at a podium at an introductory press conference. Every UF and LSU insider has Kiffin to their school as a lock. At this rate, he might just stay at Ole Miss. I do really want him to leave (I want him to UF for personal reasons but either way) and have it out before the final selection show. If a coach has a legit foot out the door that should be taken into account in terms of seeding. I also wouldn't mind if all of the distraction causes them to lose the Egg Bowl and drop out altogether.

I don't think they would drop out if they lost. And it wouldn't be fair to punish the players and the rest of the program because their coach left.

CFP guidelines explicitly state unavailability of coaches that will likely impact postseason performance can impact ranking. You can’t not consider Lane, the HC and play-caller, not coaching as a factor. Shouldn’t be kicked out the paint, but seeding deserves review.

Foe one, I didn't say they would drop out of the playoffs altogether, but they should absolutely lose a hosting spot. You can look at it as "punishment" but teams are evaluated on their resumes, the advanced analytics, and the current state of their team. Ole Miss without Lane Kiffin is probably not a top 15 team, let alone a playoff team. Dropping them from the playoffs at a 11-1 with a 12 team format is probably too harsh, but moving them down to 9 is fair to me.

Now, more than ever, I enjoy the handwringing about NIL and The Portal. All of this drama with all these coaching jobs and no one even bats an eye. A pearl clutched here or there about the stupid buyouts, but if we're being honest, there are some things that media and fans are just willing to accept more. Lane Kiffin getting $15M a year just settles in better with people.

Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney will have zero issues with it. Zero. If anything, it helps them get more money too.

Dave Aranda's career trajectory is pretty interesting from here. My guess is he'd have to get a big DC job and prove himself to get a second opportunity, but the way this environment is now, he could easily have suitors fast whether he's fired by Baylor now or in a year.

Similar to how Manny Diaz went to PSU and used it as a springboard to get his second HC job at Duke.

Seems like a decent enough guy and good enough coach.
