I get what they're saying, but the idea they would fire Kiffin before the playoffs comes from the delusion on the OM side that their success is driven more by them as an institution, when it's very clearly driven by Lane Kiffin. Sure, firing him in the next week or so could could position them better for a HC next year, but it would undo any chance they have at doing anything significant in the playoffs. From my perspective the chance at OM to make a deep run in the playoffs is a greater incentive than maybe snagging the 5th or 6th best HC on the market.Does anyone think Ole Miss AD and Board could actually do this out of frustration with Kiffin's lack of transparency and to protect the program which could be left hanging dangerously without a HC in late December or January?
Ole Miss Could Fire Lane Kiffin Before College Football Playoff
I don't remember the details around Kiffin being fired by The Raiders in the NFL but apparently one reason was his "lack of concern for his contract with the team."
And FWIW, the smoke on the UF and LSU side is that Lane wants to coach through the playoffs, so it doesn't seem like he's looking to ditch them now.
