You think any P5 school would give in to running the option full time? That would be risky IMO. I don't think he's ever ran anything other than the option but maybe someone else can confirm or deny that.

Nebraska might. Echoes of the glory days. Doesn't have to be full time option, either. The guy is an experienced football coach. I'm sure he's capable of designing a few pass plays.

Agree leaving Navy might be a mistake for Ken, but he's done everything you can hope to do at that program. Nebraska's a bigger stage. If he's ambitious like most head college football coaches...

You do realize that GT runs the option full time, right?

UF vs UCLA

Academics: UCLA > Florida
Venue: UCLA (Rose Bowl) > Florida (The Swamp)
Gameday Atmosphere: Florida > UCLA
Athletic Department Budget: Florida > UCLA
HS Talent: Florida > UCLA (closer than people think)
Location: UCLA (Westwood) > Florida (Gainesville)
Pressure to Win: Florida >> UCLA

I'd say for Chip Kelly he'd be more inclined to go to UCLA cause the pressure to win isn't pure insanity like at UF, the location is beautiful, the academics are very good but not a hurdle to get kids in, and he has tons of talent at his doorstep in California. I think the landscape at UF is such that he needs to go in and win 10-11 games every season or he gets fired and he has no need or desire to do that. I think he can compete for a national championship playing in the Rose Bowl with UCLA.

Another factor is competition. Easier to win UCLA i reckon than at UF.

The SECe sucks. UGA is the only competition at this point. Even if you lost to UGA you could still make the playoffs. Plus a 1 loss PAC-12 team might not make the playoffs, that is a legit concern. A 1 loss SEC champ will make the playoffs.

You have to win the SEC though. Tennessee won't suck forever, and Florida does play teams from the West, just not all of them. A one-loss PAC 12 champ almost always makes the playoffs.

It outs a huge burden on your defense as while they face triple option in practice, they don’t get enough reps vs the types of offenses they will actually face.

Chip Kelly to UCLA would be awesome. I could definitely see him stealing some serious recruits from boring ass Clay Helton.

An enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Or, he could really kill our Cali recruiting. Which would leave him the enemy of my enemy who is still an enemy.

Well, hell, if Taggart is in play to Ole Miss, who knows what might happen. But why would Jimbo Fisher ever leave FSU for Auburn? Would love to see Ken N. get the promotion he clearly deserves, be it to Nebraska or Oregon State, just to get him off our schedule.

Predictions:
Florida: Scott Frost
Tennessee: Dan Mullen
UCLA: Chip Kelly
Nebraska: Ken. N.
Miss. State: Les Miles
Ole Miss: Charlie Strong
Arkansas: Mike Norvell

Scott Frost is going to Nebraska. There's no way he could not go to his alma mater, right?

Doesn't Ken need only a couple more years to get his federal retirement?

Ken would be a fool IMO to leave Navy.

I think the only two schools Niumatalolo leaves Navy for are BYU or Hawaii. Probably Hawaii more than BYU. I can see a scenario where Nick Rolovich is unable to really turn the program around in the next four to five years, and Ken N and Jasper come back home.

10 active coaches coach at their alma. It's never as done-of-a-deal as people think it is.

Yeah, but the stars are in alignment for it to happen, right now. How often does that happen?

If Frost goes to Nebraska, I bet Milton follows him.

My UT prediction is Clawson. Wake won't be able to hold onto him with all of this swirl and UT is the most logical choice.

Ken N. turned down BYU when Bronco left for Virginia. Seems to be devoted to Navy.

If they open an Institute, do they become UTI?

Clawson is a very under rated coach. Curious how UT fans would think.

Tennessee fans will be disappointed with anyone except for Gruden.

While Clawson is having a good year this year, his 20-28 record at Wake Forest would cause people to have a similar reaction to what ND fans had when we hired Willingham. "You got to be fricking kidding me, is this the best we could get". You would probably see tweets of some Vol fans burning their Vol gear making them no longer Vols for Life.

Yeah, which is why I think Hawaii would have a better chance of getting Niumatalolo than BYU. BYU was an interest because of faith. Hawaii is literally, and figuratively, a homecoming. He bought his house, last year.

I mentioned this last year when the search was going on and people thought that he might go to BYU, but I talked to his sons about the odds of him coming here and they both said none. The wife really wants the government pension, who wouldnt? That being said, I know that he only had a few years left to get the "pay raise" or whatever it was, so he could leave. Idk why he would though. I think that Navy is the perfect place for him... which for us is unfortunate.

Clawson's time at ut didn't go real well. He had a lot of terminology and/or communication problems with QB's and players. Maybe he's fixed that? Or maybe he's a guy that needs several years to get it all together and have a veteran QB in his system? Whatever the case may be, ut could do worse, but I doubt he's the guy to turn things around there.

While that may be their perception, it isn't close to reality. He has won 7 games (and counting) this year, after 7 last year. You know the last time Wake had back to back seasons of 7+ wins? 2007-2008. After that, Wake didn't get to 7 until Clawson. Clawson has a history of inheriting trouble and turning it around. While the name isn't splashy, he would be a significant upgrade over ole Butch and he knows the region well.

Edit - His time at UT was destined to fail. Phat Phil was clearly on his way out and everyone knew it. There was no way that was going to work.

Prediction: Kingsbury out at Tech and replaced by Sumlin.

Tech fans are reasonable and will gladly take 8-9 wins a season on average.
