Trevor is better than DJ, but seriously how much more passing yards could we have given up? The bigger effect of having Trevor and not DJ is that it might clean up the meshes on the RB handoffs, which were not crisp and clearly handicapped their runs (and lead directly to 7 points).

Thats what gives me hope. DJ played well. It wasn't like Notre Dame abused some ill equipped kid. ND won against a very good team

That fumble recovery for a TD was awesome. I feel like we’re usually on the opposite side for those types of crazy plays.

Our Oline is outstanding. 2015 we had 4 NFL starters (N. Martin, Stanley, Mcglinchey, and Nelson) plus a guy who probably would of been and NFLer but gave up football (Elmer). Can’t say how these guys will do in the NFL, but I think they all get drafted this year or next, except probably Banks.

My main concern going into this game was Book. Honestly, that had to be most fans’ concerns. Even the beat writers & national media pointed it out. I was worried this game would crush him mentally if they didn’t show up.

He showed up big & willed his team to victory w/ composure & confidence. He showed what he didn’t show in the first six games...he can be a playmaker regardless of his physical limitations.

My 2nd concern was Shayne Simon & he, too; stepped up and absolutely crushed it...especially in the first half. Where was this aggression in the first six games?!?! Loved watching him prove me wrong and grow his game last night. I didn’t doubt he wouldn’t be a key cog in the defense beyond this year but last night he proved he can be that cog now.

Clemson is a virtual lock to be in the ACC title game. They have the tough part of their schedule over with while ND’s just got started last night (albeit w/ the toughest hurdle being cleared). Clemson’s biggest threat is likely a VT team who lost to Liberty.

ND still has BC, UNC, WF & Syracuse. IMO, UNC is the toughest obstacle on paper b/c I put their offense on par with the best in the ACC. Their D, however; has struggled to get off the field in key moments. Hopefully, ND can control the clock & break them down. BC is too obvious of a trap game (both historically & present day) that I would be disappointed if ND didn’t win comfortably. BK sounds like he knows his job just got tougher w/ BC in one week.

I’ve worn out my keyboard last night & this morning on multiple ND boards celebrating the equivalent of Halley’s Comet for ND fans. Cheers!

Post Game Thoughts:
1) Notre Dame needs to give Clark Lea a blank check, he tells them what he wants, and they close a deal.
2) To go with #1- Hayes, Simon, JOK, Hamilton. These guys played like a national champion defense.
3) Kyren Williams played a complete game. He ran got us yards and scores. He picked up the blitz nearly every time. He was appreciative of his o-line.
4) Mayer and McKinley both played a physical game. Transfers in the off season are going to be tricky. I bring McKinley back next year if he can come back.
5) BK got his signature win.
6) I want to see what this team can do against Clemson with Lawrence as a rematch.
7) I had respect before this game for Dabo and still do.
8) Next weeks game is a trap game vs BC. We all know why. PJ has had this game circled since the day the NCAA granted him eligibility. I am sure some of our defensive studs would like to get reacquainted with him.
9) Great win for the university, the football team, the coaches, the families of the players, and all of the fans.

Go Irish!!

I am so happy. Way to go Ian. ND showed awesome team resilience and focus and physically dominated. If they can play with that degree of drive and physicality they can beat Clemson twice and I don’t care if they have everyone back for that game. Clemson was limping around the field for the whole second half. ND beat their ass.

Agreed. I would add that BC also has historical significance when looking at 1993 post FSU win & 2002 post FSU win. ND had no business losing either game. PJ is just gas on the proverbial fire. I think him being their QB and getting a lot of love nationally (based on passing stats) may fire up ND even more...I hope it does.

My understanding is that this season does not count against a player’s eligibility. However, all teams must be back to 85 scholarships in 2022, so the staff will really have to weigh the pros & cons of bringing kids back.

I hang with a pocket of LSU fans occasionally and they are saying Clark Lea is on their radar.

I remember (don't want to especially this week) that 93 BC game. I agree I hope ND's D is fired up more than PJ.

McKinley has been playing well. The thing about our WR's is that we've got Lenzy and Keys with remaining eligibility and some great ones coming in the 2021 class.

The thing is if there is a rematch in the ACC title game I would expect Lenzy to be fully available. And he adds another dimension to the offense.

Lax was fucked up last night and I love it lmaooooooo

This morning was pretty brutal. The game went so long that I ran out of beer by OT. Grabbed an open bottle of wine from the fridge and nervously chugged it until the end. First and last time I ever drink wine on game day.

Consensus now seems to be that even with a close loss in the ACC championship game, we should get into the playoffs.

I agree, I said "they" not me. I laughed at them. It is nice to know that he is good enough for "SEC" though.

I hope we can get Lenzy back ASAP. It seems to me when they bring him in he is used for a jet sweep. I agree he adds another dimension to this offense, he is the speed we need at WR.

Oh I know. Just hilarious that some people think they have an inside track by saying "we should hire this Clark Lea guy."

Hopefully if Clark Lea does leave, it’s not for his alma mater, Vanderbilt who are 0-5 right now. He deserves a better job than that.

If he does leave, I hope Notre dame replaces him with another younger guy. Lea is 37, I like having both our coordinators being under 40.

I'd like to think that top OCs and DCs (not just at ND but everywhere) have come to appreciate the risk of leaving a blue blood coordinator job for a HC position at a dumpster fire program.

I think if we lose Lea it will be to at least an upper tier program on a similar level to places like MSU or Va Tech.

If Clark Lea does leave I hope they keep the same defensive scheme that Elko and Lea brought to ND.

Does anyone know any details about Lea's contract? I just think ND needs to lock him up for a few more years if they can.

We’re ranked #2 in the AP and the Coaches poll.
Just shows how inconsistent the pollsters are for absolutely everything! We have the absolute best win to the now #4 team in the country and Alabama moves to #1 in a bye week?

We gotta put it on BC and crush the rest of our schedule!
It’s personal this year!

I live in SEC country. Its arrogance. I hear dumb shit like that all the time.

I know - I'm just outside of Nashville and I live in 14 home, small community out in the sticks... a 'T' flag on every house but mine... of course, I get smashed at the beginning of every season.

NOW - every house is calling for Pruitt to be fired...

I went out this morning.......... one orange 'T' Flag and it's my neighbor across the street Trae.. he was aerating his yard and stopped and said, 'Best game I have watched all year last night - good win brother.... we suck" LOL

Arrogance from Vols fans is funny. That' like a teenaged Rosie O'Donnell in high school walking down the hall saying, "Oh yeah, you want you some of this don't ya?"

Well you spoke too soon.

I was doing a sales call in Montgomery last week and I have a ND license plate on the front of my truck, 'Leppy' as a sticker in my back window, and a silver 'Leppy' on my tail-gate.. someone left a note under my windshield wiper that simply said, roll tide... this was all around my truck, had to file a police report so I can get it repainted. Nothing like getting keyed.

I've went to a lot of TN games, and didn't find them arrogant to be honest. Yes, there are some silly mouthy hillbillies, but there are at every SEC school, and most schools in general.

I tailgated for years with them. Always wore ND gear, always had a generator running a flat screen for the ND game. They were always cool. They loved their Vols for sure, but acted pretty beaten down to be honest, not arrogant. It all started last time ND visited Knox (a buddy took me), and beat TN as an underdog. I thought I was gonna get killed after hearing too many SEC fan stories, but they were all kind and congratulatory, and I tailgated with them late into the night.

The only times they got up-ity was vs UGA. And the Dawg fans were far worse. I've been to several multiple UGA/TN games at both places.

If I had to rank the worst - FL, AL, TN, GA... take your pick after that... Really tired of the 'Chomp' and 'Roll Tide' BS down here....

Hell, at a funeral they say 'Roll Tide'...

I'm a military brat as well as being a traveler in sales.... two worse states to be in (I'm 52 - been in sales 30 years) Alabama and Mississippi...

TN is not as bad as all the others... Vols fans are more in jest... Alabama fans are just outright obnoxious... we had a fish-fry two months ago and a new guy showed up and EVERY statement and sentence ended in 'Roll Tide'

......... he was asked to leave and he did.
