This makes the most sense. I'm guessing he has DC and HC aspirations like most coaches do early in their career. If he stays at ND he fulfills the first of two aspirations. At A&M he fulfills neither and his wait to do so becomes longer.

Anyone know who all from ND is attending the conference?

Think Jimbo and Elko might turn and walk away if they see BK coming their way? lol

I say we should make Lea our new DC, then we need to ask the important question: who's the number 1 defensive target we want right now? Who's the coach he's closest to? Welcome aboard coach.

Idk if its been discussed or not, and I've heard hes "solid", but really, how good of a recruiter is Lea?

From what I've gathered he's the perfect recruiter for ND and the kind I've always thought would have the most success long term. He works incredibly hard, can identify the right guys, and is all about developing relationships. He's not flashy but he's a grinder.

ND does a great job of selling itself, to the right prospects, as long as those relationships are started and developed. As long as we have a staff that is committed to the process, we'll do well in recruiting. He's been very good at all of it.

Well for 2019 there is a group of guys like Brian Williams, Nana Osafo, and Brandon Smith that were seemingly very very high on ND's board. Elko seemingly took the Brian Williams relationship with him for now. Nana Osafo, I'm unsure of, but he was already very interested in A&M. So, in regards to Lea, Brandon Smith would be the guy, probably. Lea was out to see him 3 times prior to ESP. That made a huge impression on Smith and his family. He's an incredible talent so that'd be my pick.

Again, Brian Williams is the top pick, but his lead recruiter just left, along with a lot of other relationships.

Just saw video of Elko landing in Texas. Really convincing Clark Lea lookalike disembarked right behind him....

Oh, that's a good one. Honestly, I don't know. Outside of saying I'd lose my shit, I can't even fathom the rage followed by sadness I'd have, in that scenario.

Would literally become one of those billboard sign people and would not spend a dime on ND football until everyone associated with decision was fired or dead.
