Still waiting on the PS3 demo release this evening.
Can someone with the 360 version speak to the quality of the interactions between the defensive backs and the recievers?
Specifically:
1) If the WR is faster than the DB and the DB is "obstructing" the route, will A) The WR move around the DB, or B) Pass-interference be called? OR C) The WR has a 'collision' with the DB making him ineffectual as he tries to run up the DB's back.
2) With "super linebackers" apparently reigned in, are safety shenanigans reigned in?
Basically any information about the new passing system from the non-QB P.O.V.
My experience was pretty good. The game on the whole seems much, much faster and smoother than last year's. If one positive can be said about the game it's that it's really, really, pretty. The motion blur looks good most of the time, but occasionally looks silly (like when I see the same amount of blur when my running back is getting up after the play, and when he's running full speed). In the four games I played, I never had a linebacker suddenly turn into Lebron James, but like I said... four games.
The cornerbacks seem to behave much more realistically. The most impressive play was when I decided to test out their new "the defender reacts to what he sees" feature (is that a feature now?). I threw a pass that would have been broken up last year with a cornerback around my targeted receiver, but the cornerback was looking at a different receiver running a go route. Once I threw it, he didn't suddenly become psychic and immediately change directions to break up the pass. So color me impressed on that.
Presentation has been improved, the ESPN ticker really adds a lot to the immersion of watching football on a Saturday. The live game updates are good, but Davis sounds the most like a robot when he's talking about the game. I heard the phrase "We've been watching this one closely all afternoon." at least five times. Commentary has been improved but still isn't on par with Fifa (not even close). There is less repeated dialogue, but if you play the game every year some phrases will still stand out. Crowd sounds the exact same to me. Presentation is still not on par with NFL 2K5.
That's all I got out of it so far.
1) Don't have an answer for no. 1 yet. I'll run some go routes with a fast receiver later on today.
