Probably right but the commentators have been loving Michigan all season.
There's some emotion in this.
There's some emotion in this.
It really is. Penn State and Michigan State really softened up their conference schedule. It's basically become a one game play-in with pOSU. The committee probably won't let them in with one loss if there's a one loss conference champion given the SOS.I think Clemson with an ACC title gets in over Michigan who won’t even have made the B1G championship game. Michigans schedule is truly pathetic this year.
It'll be really interesting if Tennessee makes it in over multiple one-loss conference champs (USC, Clemson) without having even played for their conference title AND having gotten rolled by a fellow CFP entrant. Makes the whole "conference titles matter" argument hard to take seriously, even if Clemson, in particular will have had a pretty soft schedule. My dumb prediction: Georgia vs TCU, and OSU vs Tennessee. If no TCU, then, I think, USC. If ND somehow beats USC, then MI.
I have a hard time seeing anyone else assuming GA beats LSU, and OSU beats MI by two scores. Even a win-out Clemson seems to have no credibility given our asskicking them. (plus us asskicking UNC, their only other semi-credible win possibility.)
This argument only applies for Notre Dame. It'll be really interesting if Tennessee makes it in over multiple one-loss conference champs (USC, Clemson) without having even played for their conference title AND having gotten rolled by a fellow CFP entrant. It’s been fun living in Tennessee and telling everyone it’s too bad they can’t make the playoffs this year since they won’t be in the CCG. They seem to be changing their tune on the importance of a 13th game. This argument only applies for Notre Dame.
That's what I meant by "interesting."This argument only applies for Notre Dame.
Put the ball down, let's line those puppies up. Mitch Evans 5 yard draws till Kirby cries his way home. That's what I meant by "interesting."
It'll also be "interesting" if we were the team that beat two of those one-loss conference champs, and have a closer loss to Ohio State than Tennessee's was to Georgia.* Damn Marshall/Stanford.
*Yes Georgia would absolutely curbstomp us. We have no business in the playoffs even if we'd managed to squeak out those two dumb losses.
I think it's11 - 0 Georgia
11 - 0 Ohio State
11 - 0 Michigan
11 - 0 TCU
10 - 1 USC
10 - 1 Clemson
9 - 2 LSU
8 - 2 Oregon (playing now)
Think these are the teams in play at this point.
Tennessee I think this is too late to lose without a conference title and Hooker looked like he’ll be out anyways.
Clemson absolutely has a shot if they win out and we beat USC.
Oregon I think is unlikely but has some sort of life support if they win out and beat a 11 - 1 USC given Nix left the Washington game.
LSUs resume took a hit today but if they actually were to beat Georgia can’t be ignored if chaos happens.
Louisiana State is in if the win out.I think it's
1 Georgia
2 OSU/Michigan
3 TCU
4 USC
5 Clemson
Everyone else needs total chaos to get in.
Might depend on how badly Michigan loses to OSU in that scenario. Clemson had a better schedule but they got destroyed by a 8-4/9-3 Notre Dame that lost to Marshall and Stanford. No way an 11-1 Michigan gets in over conference champ Clemson.
Michigan played the worst OOC schedule in the country and they’ll pay the consequence.
A 12-1 conference champ has never been left out of the playoffMight depend on how badly Michigan loses to OSU in that scenario. Clemson had a better schedule but they got destroyed by a 8-4/9-3 Notre Dame that lost to Marshall and Stanford.
Could see Clemson being left out if Tennessee were still in the mix, or if LSU beats Georgia. Someone with some actual good wins might get in to the fourth spot ahead of them. But Michigan doesn't really have that on their resume.A 12-1 conference champ has never been left out of the playoff
They wontLouisiana State is in if the win out.
A 12-1 conference champ has never been left out of the playoff
Yeah this year someone had to get left out if there’s multiple 12-1 conference champs. College football finally has a season that justifies a playoff expansion.Yeah the only way Clemson is left out at 12 - 1 is if everyone else wins out: Georgia, OSU/Michigan, TCU, USC
That would be something to see!I’m hoping we play LSU after they lose again.
Would like to have a functional quarterback for that matchup, but definitely one I’d like to see happenThat would be something to see!
Are you hoping to catch the flu this week too? They'd beat us.I’m hoping we play LSU after they lose again.
