Doesn't he still go on tirades about how Texas Tech screwed him out of money? I would be amazed if he would go back.

Not sure, but a Texas buddy of mine who follows all things Texas football down south shared the info. Again, not sure how accurate the rumors are but anything in Texas is better than Pullman.

I thought there was still an open lawsuit where he has sued TT for money he believes he is owed?

https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/co...ors-interested-texas-tech-reunion-report-says

Article states there are many who would welcome him back and others who would not want him back, mentioning the lawsuit.

Edit: But there's also this article that came out 11 months ago: https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...leach-texas-tech-feud-new-lawsuit/1010374001/

Yeah it's hard to imagine he'd be open to going back when he still has a lawsuit against them.

I'd rather not lose Polian and if we do, we better find someone who can keep the recruiting momentum going and take our STs to the next level.

Is anyone coming up in the ranks, labeled as a ST guru?

I don't know about that. West Texas sucks. At least Washington has apples, great beer, and mountains.

This is a crazy story. I didn't think there was any way possible that TT would even think about bringing Leach back, but then I saw this:

It didn’t take long for Mike Leach’s name to pop up in connection with an open college football coaching position, but the first rumor is certainly surprising.
The Lubbock (Texas) Avalanche-Journal quoted two sources saying the Washington State coach is interested in the vacancy at his former place of employment — Texas Tech.

Yes, Texas Tech, where Leach was fired amid reports of mistreatment of players, and the school Leach unsuccessfully sued to try to capture salary he said was owed to him.

In a story written by Don Williams of the Avalanche-Journal, two sources said Leach is interested in the position now vacant after the firing of Kliff Kingsbury.

One source said a large contingent of Texas Tech donors will lobby athletic director Kirby Hocutt to make it happen.

“The people who are supporting him, it’s not just one or two,” the source told the newspaper. “It’s like a hoard of people and maybe eight or 10 that are like million-dollar-plus donors. It’s some serious folks.”

The second source said considering the popular but polarizing Leach might trigger too much controversy internally and probably would lead Tech to a safer choice.
Leach went 84-43 from 2000-09 at Texas Tech. The high-water mark came in 2008 with a 10-0 start and a rise to No. 2 in the national rankings before the team lost two of its last three.

Right now, Leach has his WSU Cougars at 10-2, No. 12 in the country, and awaiting a bowl berth.

The newspaper said there are all sorts of roadblocks to a Leach-Tech reunion, and the prospect could flame out. Tech owes Kingsbury $4 million in buyout money over the next two years, in addition to paying whomever is hired and presumably funding a new coach’s buyout obligation in his current deal.

Leach is making $3.5 million this year, according to USA Today, on a contract agreed upon last December. All told, the obligations could approach or exceed $10 million, though the two sources who described Leach as interested said the money likely would not be an issue.

The paper reported that just as there are donors pushing for Leach, others are dead set against the man who sued the university after being fired for alleged mistreatment of a player. Leach has periodically railed against Tech since, claiming the university still owes him money — arguments Tech officials reject, citing court decisions in the university’s favor.

Crus is going to take Polian's job. I already contacted Happy Jack about it. Should know more by the end of the week. That is when the undefeated celebrations will cease.

Sucks to lose Polian. He’s a good recruiter and a guy who values what Notre Dame is all about. But he’s been pretty clear he wanted to get back to a head coaching job, and a MAC school seems about right.

Yeah, this feels like one of those situations where everyone knew he wanted another shot and the players and staff will wish him well. The only question besides who replaces him would be if there is anyone on the staff he would try to take with him. You would figure the coordinators and Elston would stay, but if he offered a coordinator role to one of the position coaches they might go.

It appears Brohm is staying at Purdue.

"I want Louisville to do what's best for them," Brohm said after Purdue's 28-21 win at Indiana, which made the Boilers bowl-eligible at 6-6. "I'm a fan. But right now, I'm the coach at Purdue. This is where I want to be and I like it here."

Brohm called the reports linking him to Louisville "pure speculation" and said he has talked with Purdue players about the situation and "will continue to be honest with my team."

Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore told Rivals.com that Brohm told the team "there's nothing to worry about" regarding his future.

Read where there is a rumor about UoL contacting Mizzou HC, which would support Brohm's statement. Not sure which HC position is better UoL or Mizzou?

Some of that would depend on salaries. I would venture to say ND position coaches probably make the same or more than a coordinator position at a MAC school.

Seems like it would be a heck of a lot easier to compete in the ACC as Louisville than in the SEC as Mizzou.

The lawsuit has never been finalized. Hard to imagine Leach would return when the split was pretty nasty. Plus, the current AD has strong ties to several other decent candidates...Littrell, the Memphis coach, and Venables.

both have probably already got calls from Saban's secretary...

i think i'd rather have Kingsbury, but Fedora is probably more well rounded.

Kingsbury seemed to always have an unknown QB that played lights out, and several have gone on to the pros. Will be a good pick up for any college program (USC??), but could probably make leap to pros, too.

USC should absolutely hire Kingsbury. It’d make life harder for Notre Dame and everyone else they play, of course. But he could do ridiculous things with the skill players they get.

Agreed, but if any of them want to eventually be a coordinator or HC at a P5 program they are probably going to have to go to a lower level program first. Some of them might be willing to give up some money now to potentially make more later.

Good on USC for keeping Helton. Classy letter and guy.

Great move from a ND perspective.

USC should absolutely hire Kingsbury. It’d make life harder for Notre Dame and everyone else they play, of course. But he could do ridiculous things with the skill players they get.

Question is whether Kingsbury would take the job with their HC situation. Cam Smith's comments after the ND game confirmed what most people were able to gather by watching them play - this team isn't "buying in" to whatever the staff is selling. That said, if he can get the offense clicking, he may get the first look at the USC HC job once Helton is fired. That may be intriguing.

Kingsbury would probalby have to agree to keep Tee Martin on the staff too. I think Helton wants to keep him around b/c he can recruit.

Another question is whether or not USC is willing to open up the pocket book for a coordinator who will command a relatively high salary. Boosters are absolutely irate with Swann right now, and according to "sources", people are closing up their pocket books, including several big donors. Not good, especially given they're in the middle of a $300 million dollar stadium renovation and they're having trouble parking 60k asses into a stadium against their biggest rivals.

This is a crazy story. I didn't think there was any way possible that TT would even think about bringing Leach back, but then I saw this:

Mike Leach did nothing wrong.

Yep and is why I said "some of that" would depend on salary. If it's a big enough difference the wife may not approve. If they are close, it's more or less a lateral as far as salaries, so you go because it's a HC, DC or OC position.

Pete Sampson mentioned Marty Biaggi at North Texas. Current ST coordinator there and a previous ND analyst.
