Is Willingham still with Stanford in some capacity?

Only in distant memory. We got our payback on him when he was with UW anyways.

Slapped him around in '05, helping kick off his .229 winning percentage as the head man in Seattle.

He later added ND's 36-17 drubbing in '05 to his previous racist allegations against the university.

caused me to look him up and found this gem....not only couldn't he coach or recruit but he couldn't even get assistant coaches that were anything...check out his coaching tree...ouch

Coaching tree
Assistant coaches under Tyrone Willingham who became NCAA head coaches:

D. J. Durkin: Maryland (2016–2018)
Trent Miles: Indiana State (2008–2012), Georgia State (2013–2016)

Guys, we seriously need to be betting against Bowling Green every week. BVG is still their Defensive Coordinator and gave up 45 points and over 400 yards...by the 3rd quarter.

By the end of the game, BVG's defense gave up 667! yards and 62 points. The spread was 20.5 points and over/under was 55.5, which BVG was generous enough to cement just with his defense.

This seems like a golden opportunity

Holy crap it's Bulls -31. And yet I'm still fairly confident that Bowling Green won't cover.

over-under: 58 points That seems like an easy over

Wow, just wow: Bowling Green is 5-21 ATS in their last 26 home games

Not looking great after 1 quarter.

Where do I file for my refund?

The over hit. I didn’t watch the first quarter but did the rest of the game and Buffalo was running a burn offense. I knew we were doomed for a cover when their RB dropped a wide open pass on 4th and 2 that would have been a walk-in TD.

We'll always have the Michigan game. Sadly, everything after that is a blur I'd rather forget.

My Dad worked with Hud for a year. He left as quick as he could find another job. He said he was the sneakiest, untrustworthy, snake in the grass he had ever coached with. He said he had zero personality unless he wanted something from you. Then, he was the nicest guy around. Sounds like BVG may have found the perfect person to coach with.

I've always been amazed at how he kept getting hired, with not a lot of success to show for it.

I think he caught a few teams off guard when he came in and they transitioned from Disco's D. Michigan certainly fell victim, thankfully. After that...they figured him out, and aside from Jaylon there were some big holes in those defenses...the interior line and MLB particularly due to Disco's lack of recruiting those positions. BVG ran into similar problems when he landed at Louisville, they were starting almost all freshmen and sophomores when he came in. Paid dividends later when we faced them in 2019 and 2020, but didn't help him keep a job. That said he had no excuses by 2016 for the awful defense he fielded.

Pretty much sums up college sports. Failure and scandal really don't matter. It's all about being in the country club.

This guy, if nothing else, made Brian Kelly finally cast his net wider to hire assistant coaches. I am eternally grateful to BVG for that and very little else.

One day you’re a barnacle with some prime real estate on the hull. The next, you’re getting scraped off and dropping to the ocean floor.
