41.6 points per game give up from the North Carolina game until USC! I forget when Schmidt went down. They love to knock his speed, but it's been absolutely painful to watch without him.
There needs to be a lot of looking at the staff... I don't give a fvk if you have so many injuries that your second all dorm team is playing defense... What happened on D since FSU is inexcusable... Completely...
Here, I can help...STOP BLITZING.
Lets start there.
The defense the first 5 games was pretty good. Hell, 31-0 against UM!? Since then, atrocious. They can't take all the blame due to so many turnovers. The really sobering thing however, is the seeming lack of emotion. Have some of the players given up? Has it been because of the Universities handling of the "frozen 5", who are their friends and teammates?
And do what instead?
We know jack about football compared to any college coaching staff. But damn, right now BVG is like Tenuta 2.0.

BVG needs to sit down and analyze the North Carolina game. They exposed our defense with their hurry up offense. BVG is in a tough situation with how young we are, the injuries our defense has sustained, and our offense not being able to carry the load.
Next year our defense should be top 25 or better with everyone (except Riggs) coming back next year. If we have the same results 1 year from now, ND needs to consider making a change.
This thread was started upon celebration of him blitzing.
Exactly. Sit back an allow them to pick apart our young and beat up secondary?
Against Purdue...

I agree completely. I think he relied too much on situational personell packages, which the hurry up cancelled out.
Miss me and my sexy hair yet?

Not denying that. Was just pointing out how it came around full circle. Started because he was awesome for having the balls to blitz at that time, to wondering why we blitz
Well said.
I'm happy you pointed that out. While the public sees how bad this team is.
Bend but don't break. Or BEND OVER and let them break you? Seriously, especially with Sheldon Day out, we don't have a Tuitt and Nix to rely on. Or a Teo for that matter.
Thanks Bluto. I was at that game (I am a season ticket holder) and ND had a tough time subbing guys in. My dad and I talked to a couple of North Carolina fans and they said how NC gets off to a slow start, well not that game. The NC game shouldn't have been a shootout. While some may think we lost steam at the FSU game I disagree, I think out downfall was the NC game. ND played a heck of a game vs. FSU.
Honest question, does anyone think defensively we would have been in a better position with Diaco still here? Keeping the injuries and suspensions.
I was at that game too. Must admit it was exciting. Golson....man he did not do the d any favors in that one, or against ASU, or USC. Frankly I'm much more concerned with how Golson, the O line and the field goal unit went into the tank when the stakes were high. The d I understand but those dudes...they were supposed to "carry the team" from the get go.
