Per BGI, Sept. 1 kicks off the contact period and the staff called Gison this evening.
I agree, any 2015 kid that they called today is a priority or want.
Just a clarification here...ND coaches can't call juniors. They can send them messages and ask the player to call them, but they cannot actually call the recruit. I agree any 2015 kid that they were in contact with today is high on their board, especially considering the low scholarship numbers we currently have for the 2015 class.

What is the number actually looking like? I figured it would be high (obv depending on how the 2014 class shakes out), but there's hardly anything left of the 2012 class left after transfers, and the number presently is borderline scary low.

It looks like there will be a lot of 5Ys from the 2011 class. The following players have saved a year of eligibility: Carlisle, Daniels, Hegarty, N. Martin, Hanratty, Hounshell, Springmann, Grace, Schmidt, Rabasa, Councell, Brown, Hardy and Farley. I count 5 current starters and a bunch of key backups among that group. I think we'll bring back at least 6 of those guys, and more likely 7-8.
Bringing back so many will likely keep the 2015 class at or below 20, depending on attrition.
Last night I listened to an interview that he did where the reporter asked about track. Apparently he is a track star (400M) and wants to do that in college. He said it will be important in his decision.
I understand people wanting to do track in college (well not really I hate running but whatever floats your boat), but making your college choice about track vs football doesn't make any damn sense. At least you CAN make money in football. Even if you make the Olympics, most track runners end up spending more money than they make. SMH
South Florida athletes are fast, responsive, and instinctive on a football field because they have been encouraged to be active in basketball, soccer, and running track as preteens. Early participation in sports such as basketball, soccer, and track have given them the immediate burst that sets them apart from their peers on a football field.I'm 50/50 on this topic really. If a kid really enjoys running track then he should do that. However, I don't think you'll ever maximize your football abilities if you are running track in the off-season. So for the big time prospects like Gibson and Jackson running track could just derail what is a very promising career in football. I personally think that if Gibson could focus all his efforts for the next two years he could become a BIG time college QB. He has all the talent in the world he just needs to refine it and perfect it.
I think this goes for athletes across the country as well. Many kids around the country are encouraged to partake in an array of athletics during their adolescence. The difference between Florida and many other southern states, is their ability to do these outdoor sports throughout the entire year. This is what gives them the edge I believe.South Florida athletes are fast, responsive, and instinctive on a football field because they have been encouraged to be active in basketball, soccer, and running track as preteens. recruited as a QB to all of those places?
i doubt we are w/ barnett...i remember a while ago reading that his best position at the college level would be as wr
Of the four are all recruiting him as a WR?
he is a bit raw as a qb but schools are recruiting him as qb/athlete...i would say depending on their need..he looked like a baller this year, but he also had quite a few d1 prospects on his team...but the kid is good...can chuck the ball a mile, make plays with his legs...if we didn't have a qb already for 2015 he would be my guy i would want..because he wouldn't be ready for a good 2 years in college so we would be set...but anyways i don't remember exactly what schools are recruiting him as qb or athlete but from recruiting sites it was mentioned he has the most upside as a wr....but that was before this years season so maybe that changed...
He is a stud QB. I can't see him playing another position. But hey, Weis tried to recruit Terrelle Pryor as a WR.
