BVG Fired

Not sure why everyone keeps saying "freshman took the ball from Cole". Cole screwed up and misjudged the ball and bobbled it. Corley did not take the ball from him, he caught it as Cole bobbled it. He did not "out muscle" him for the ball.

To me it actually looked like Luke jumped a second early and didn't high point the ball giving the WR the ability to make a play on the ball and score.

Jenkins has bigger titties to lick than making sure BK is fired because he didn't fire BVG.

Like firing BK himself because he's not the coach to lead this program to the promise land?

At the very least, the following must happen:

If we don't go 11-2 with a NY6 bowl win, then BK must fire BVG.

We aren't going 11-2, so BK must fire BVG.

If BK won't fire BVG, Swarbrick must fire BK.

If Swarbrick won't fire BK, Fr. Jenkins needs to step in and force the issue.

If Fr. Jenkins won't, well, I know several HC priests that would. They do not accept the 'academic restrictions' BS excuse. In any case, Jenkins was hired because he was willing to fire Willingham. And we're well past year 3 with BK.

P.S. If we can get Herman, we need to fire BK. Alas, I think Houston will get into the Big 12 and he'll stay put.

Swarbrick needs to pressure Kelly to make changes on the staff. Either fire BVG and improve the staff or you will be fired. Happens all the time in college football and NFL.

This is quickly turning into a dumpster fire of a football program.

Yeah, like keeping all those deep pocket boosters happy. When they start demanding BVG's head, or Kelly's, that becomes biggest titty. From what I heard last night from a couple of very connected alums, that time is upon us.

Gilmore needs to go too. We're the only p5 team in the nation without a sack. It's almost impossible to not haveven a sack by now. At least 1 should happen by accident through week 3

It's hard for me to tell how much the suckfest that is BVG plays into this. I remember when Hiestand was at Tennessee with Derek Dooley. He was known as a guy that couldn't recruit and UT fans hated him. He's obviously shown that was not accurate. That being said, if Gilmore got let go (with BVG) I wouldn't shed a tear.

While BK is a good coach, where he fails to rise to that next level is his inability to adjust. Great coaches change well before they start seeing failures. Great coaches have that ability to evolve as the game evolves. I just get the sense that BK is too stubborn to be great. And that's a shame.

Several of us in the student section were calling for BK to be fired during the game. We got some dirty looks from other students, but lots of students were booing, too, when we kept calling run plays and losing 3 yards almost automatically. It is hard to sense where the student body is on this -frankly, most are focused more on schoolwork, girls, etc., which is probably a good thing in general- but it's really time for students to step up here. I'm writing a PhD dissertation, but I make time to complain about BK. They should too.

The entire defensive coaching staff probably needs to be fired. They're all collectively responsible for the bad coaching and recruiting that has gotten us to this point. I said before that our safeties were MAC level... turns out our entire secondary is MAC level... we need teachers and developers of talent like we have coaching QB/WR/RB/OL (though OL so far looks rough they played well '12/'13/'14/'15).

When we had Diaco/Cooks/Elliot as position coaches you saw guys actually get better year-to-year not stagnate and regress.

This can turn ugly really fast. It is what it is. When you have a coach that doesn't admit mistakes, this is what happens. After the tenure of BVG wasn't addressed in the off season, that is 100% on BK. He has been bad, it not horrific and he is still here. and Poof this year he is as bad as ever, and still answered it as the right guy. PC or what not, getting creamed by every good team on defense. BK this is your fault. Lets keep beating the Temples, Nevadas, and what not. And get beat down by Stanford, Clemson, FSU, OSU, etc. Play a good team get whacked and beat the not so good teams. Great job

I'm a high school strength coach so my view is slanted but God bless Longo and staff is worthless. We look Soft. I watched OSU last night and Mickey has those dudes jacked. We look like high schoolers ( even if they are freshman)

2 of those 3 guys, fans were happy to get rid of.

I was just thinking that BVG should be fired today or Monday the latest. The interim defense coordinate should be Eliot for the time being.

The thing about Gilmore is his dline players have always improved at every stop he has been to. This leads me to believe it's either an issue with scheme or lack of talent.

Play Hayes, Hayes, Okwara, Kareem and Jamir Jones more!

I would say that Kelly is our Richt, except that Kelly is (1) crappier, (2) arrogant, and (3) a prick. Oh, and Richt almost beat the Bama team that destroyed us.

Well, to be fair, Richt could get lots of borderline players at Georgia like Isaiah McKenzie that couldn't get into ND or were going to be long shots anyway. Not that it saved his job, but he was at least competitive with the likes of Alabama at times. He only dropped below 10 wins in like...4 seasons at Georgia going back to 2002. Not quite sure why Georgia got rid of him, even if the East isn't a great division.

I've been saying this about Longo since 2012. He can get stepping too.

This is where I am at with all of our defensive coaches. How do we know how good they can be when we run this crappy defense. Just a reminder, Jarron Jones had an interception against Nevada because he dropped into coverage. Studstill had an interception against MSU because Daelin Hayes tipped the ball while in coverage 15yards down field covering a TE/RB (can't remember which). Sheldon Day was always in coverage last year. How do we know how good our lineman can be when they are constantly dropping into coverage?

Everyone knew before the season that the pass rush would be bad, and that the defensive backs would be overall bad to mediocre.

Turns out, the DBs are complete garbage so teams can max protect and only run a few receivers and still get open.

End result, no sacks at all. Shades of 2009.

I didn't think there would be a ton...but I thought there'd be SOME pass rush. I figured the Dbacks would be bad in coverage...

the thing I did not see coming is the team-wide failure to tackle...

on chances to make a play to stop a first down, this team easily fails more than it is successful and a major part of that failure is an inability to tackle on first contact...it is pop warner bad, and I can't imagine folks didn't see it in camp...how do you let that continue?

Yeah the third down defense is abysmal. I actually thought they were okay for the first two downs. I think a lot of the success Michigan State had was after the defense was gassed from not being able to get off the field.

And VanGordor was rotating in a pass rushing unit in on third down too, or at least what the Irish have to call one. He knows his DL is essentially NGs and SDEs.

I guess I'm just saying I thought the defense couldn't get the hell off the field and that exacerbated every other issue, which were already major to begin with.

Going forward, ya just gotta light a candle in the grotto that the safeties and pass rush develop over the next three games, then maybe they can slug it out with Stanford and salvage the season. A loss against a Duke, Syracuse, or North Carolina State was be devastating.

THIS.

Sad but true.

One needs to always strive to improve and learn from their mistakes, especially head coaches.

Elite coaches do that. Good coaches don't. Horrible coaches can't.

What is strange is that he won multiple national championships at Grand Valley state, multiple Big East championships at Cincy and multiple MAC championships at CMU. Notre Dame changes coaches, for the better or worse lol.

Did any of the GVS or MAC or BE championship teams have the luxury of BVG?

Ohio State graduated everyone to the NFL, starting a bunch of young pups on defense, new DC, and flat our embarrass Oklahoma. No excuses.

So many DC's have to be laughing at BVG and ND right now.
