I backed it up several times, and it looked like Rudolf started it. Not saying he deserved a helmet in the head, but he needs to own some of it. MG needs to be gone at least for the rest of the year, if not for a full 16 regular season games.

Glad I hung on watching to the end... lol

Again. It looks like Rudolph finger or fingers were stuck on Garrets helmet. It didn’t seem to me he was trying to rip Myles helmet off. Honestly all the analysis I have seen so far, no one has mentioned that Rudolph tried to take his helmet off.

I think you guys are looking through your brown glasses.

The wild melee started when Rudolph dumped a pass to running back Trey Edmunds, then was dragged to the ground by Garrett. Rudolph appeared to try and dislodge Garrett's helmet while they were on the ground, before the Browns defensive end ripped off the QB's helmet once they stood up, taking a swing with it and connecting on the top of Rudolph's head.

If your little brother had a blunt object swung and hit him in the head what would you do?

And I can’t say that MR started it. MG took him down hard and was trash talking in a game that was over. Once MG removed the helmet it should have ended there....sigh.

This is the craziest scummy thing I have seen in sports since Ron Artist in Detroit 15 or so years ago.

Skip to 1:20 you can clearly see Rudolf trying to rip Garrett's helmet off.

This will be interesting to watch. It was so egregious. But will the NFL come down harder on MG for this act than what they have done for domestic abuse? Either way, I would hate to be in the position to rationalize whatever suspension they come up with.

Does it matter who started? It escalated to a point in shouldn’t have. My kindergarten son could tell you all you shouldn’t retaliate and take to another level.

Nobody is saying MG was right in what he did. Just that MR wasn't completely innocent.

Albert Hansworth got 5 games. The Browns have 5 games remaining...I cant see him not being gone the remainder of the season.

What a shit show to end that game. I think Mason should get a game suspension or a half at the least. Garrett should get more though, that was completely uncalled for. Pouncey should get suspended just as long as Garrett.

I was fine with him ripping his helmet off, and would have been even OK with a punch. But the helmet swing was a X10.....

The "grew up in an Italian neighborhood in the 70s/80s" in me has no problem with retaliation, and even stepping things up a little. I'm not OK with the level that MG took it.

From a pure fight perspective:

MG is the first football player in eternity to employ a smart fighting strategy on the field.

Pouncey with the same old tired punching a guy with a helmet strategy.

MG FTW

I don't know what led to that play, but I have watched the fight. Garrett shouldn't play another game this year and honestly, maybe should not play again period. I don't watch the NFL much at all, but I know this was not normal.

Hits the quarterback, thats fine. Pulls him up by his helmet, pulls his helmet off, and then hits him with it? There is no place for that in modern football. Could have killed the guy. These guys already bash each others brains in every week.

Pouncey may get dinged too but what is he supposed to do there? Can't just let opposing players rip off a teammates helmet and use it as a weapon against the guy.

Certainly didn't expect to wake up to this...wow. MG should be suspended from the NFL for life along with face legal charges. If anyone on this board hit someone in the head with a helmet last night, we'd be in jail right now.

I agree that this is the most egregious thing I've seen in sports since the Artest debacle. Ron's going after fans was really bad, Garrett using a deadly weapon to someone's head is worse IMO.

This would not have happened if Rudolph would not have tried to rip Garrett’s helmet off. He was being a little bitch because he threw 4 ints. Why is he blameless in all this?

I don't think anyone is saying Rudolph is blameless except maybe Sherm. He should get a game as well I think. But Garrett's egregious act is rightfully drawing much of the attention.

I don’t think he should get a game. Should he have been flagged for a penalty and fined, sure, but what he did (pulling at the guys helmet) doesn’t warrant a suspension. I personally don’t think Garret ripping the helmet off of Rudolph is a suspension either. The suspensions should come from using the helmet as a weapon and the kicking and punching of the guy on the ground (i.e. Garrett and Pouncey).

All this “Rudolph made him angry so he should be partially punished for Garrett taking it too far” is dumb. If Garrett did not swing the helmet no one would have been suspended. He lost control and he should be punished for it.

I was watching ESPN where they listed all his penalties and fines this year including a 10k fine earlier for punching some guy.

The guy is gutter scum. No place for a guy who feels he can throw punches and act like that.

The reaction for sure gets Garrett an end-his-year fine and suspension. I think the career over stuff is overblown. But there is truly no room in the game for that. Sit him til 2020, hit him in the pocketbook, make him take some anger mgmt classes etc. Send a message.

Rudolph is 100% being a little bitch, and then going and calling Garrett out in press conference after is utter nonsense. He started it trying to rip Garrett's helmet off on the ground. He absolutely lost his cool and antagonized this situation. I'd sit him down for a week as well.

This. To say Pouncey should get what Garrett gets is illogical and ignorant (in previous post).

Anybody who has a problem with what Pouncey did is crazy or has never played OL. His QB could've been killed. It's borderline in his job description. I'm shocked it was just him.

Garrett can fuck off with a 16 game suspension. No place for that in the sport. I don't know how the NFL can say anything about player safety and not issue a huge suspension or ban.

Is this the third time this year a Browns player has been ejected or fined for punching/ kicking another player?

I saw a vantage point this morning where Rudolph punches MG either in the abdomen or in the crotch right before MG swings the helmet. Nobody is excusing MG and it looks like everyone here agrees he shouldn’t play again this year. My only point was MR tried to take MGs helmet and then apparently punched him. He should have been ejected too was my only point there. I liked what Willie M and J Jones said on this, basically.

But yeah you can’t let it get to where it went,... I’d suspect MG doesn’t play again until sometime into next season, rightfully so. It’s embarrassing.

This is MG's 2nd ejection once for punching a Titans player and know this. Then he got a fine for 2 late hits in one game on the QB.

He needs to be done with football. He is clearly has no business on the field.
