FYI the picks that were swapped in the Vernon trade are apparently being removed from the deal. So Giants keep their 4th and Browns keep their 5th.

Still dunno why Cleveland needed to send a 3rd with the 1st and Peppers. I understand why the Giants would make the trade, but I'm not sure the Gettleman tenure turns out.

Yeah, that's a lot of draft capital that carries a low hit on the budget. I hope OBJ tears it up in Cleveland. I'm really rooting for the franchise, it'd be great to see them rise to a playoff team for a few years.

I'm very much in Cleveland's camp and am hoping to see some great football from Baker et al.

Most grades of the trade seem to have us winning big... I'm not so sure any WR is worth all that tho so i get what's you're getting at.

I don't see it being that bad of a trade for the Giants. Losing a generational talent in OBJ sucks, but it doesn't set them back years like some are saying. I can see them taking Haskins at #7 and if he's still there Metcalf or Marquise Brown.

I think they’ll either trade for a QB (Rosen) and draft a WR or go QB/WR with those picks.

I think cap hit of the deal is the real issue.

From ESPN:
Cleveland essentially has OBJ signed on a five-year, $77 million pact with $19.5 million guaranteed, all but $2.75 million of which comes this season. From the Browns' perspective, his deal averages $15.4 million per season. He's owed $47 million over the next three seasons, which is less than Sammy Watkins -- an inferior wide receiver with far less of a track record -- received in unrestricted free agency last year.

From my perspective, Cleveland is pulling a win in next 3 year window. A 3rd round pick could certainly bolster the team both short and long term, along with salary cap flexibility. If they are trying to go all in while Baker and Myles Garret are on rookie contracts, I think it makes sense to load up on deals that will expire in next 3-4 years. So from a Browns perspective, I would feel much better if I secure OBJ, which means forgoing drafting, say, a S in the 3rd round (Justin Reid was great in 2018 and was 3rd rounder, Ronnie Harrison not so much) versus signing Haha or Earl Thomas to a 3 year deal with the roster structure? I would prefer the known quantity myself.

I wont feel good about the OBJ trade until we get some safety help that is now glaringly needed.

I'm sure they'll find a middle tier free agent to sign in the secondary or they'll put a few of their draft picks into it.

The clock is now ticking for the Browns, they have accrued massive draft capital to make these moves and now they are making them. Look forward to seeing them in the fall and hope they come out of the gates white hot.

The should be absolutely deadly on offense and the defensive line should help make even an average secondary look good.

In a seemingly wide open AFC North (on paper), now is the time to make that move. Only time will tell if it's the right move but you can't sit on your hands forever.

Doesn't matter who plays safety for us if we continue to place him 30 yards off the LOS like we did with Peppers. Couldn't tell if he was any good because we didn't see him in the tv screen until the play was over and everyone was returning to their huddle. He didn't give up any big plays keeping everything in front of him...but we gave up tons of yards on short and intermediate routes over the middle. Was it just because he was slow? I don't know.

They did this much more his rookie season... didn't notice it as much this past year.

Agree that rookie season was much more...but being an "ex-Safety" I can't break the habit of watching for safety play on every snap. I would get so mad...especially in some of those close games when we needed a stop on third and long and he was completely out of the picture. Hoping we don't get the same treatment from the refs as we got last year...holy shit!

Shopping Ogbah it sounds like,... predictable I suppose but he'd be one of the better depth options out there at this point and Vernon has a history of injuries no? I'd keep EO unless they can get a high quality DB or LB for him, which I doubt.

Ehh thing is he's just ok and there's no way we're resigning him after next year. If you could move him and get something in return and then just replace him with another decent DE as depth I think you end up ahead.

After the Josh Gordon mess I can't wait to see what punishment the offices give Hunt... watch him get something that vastly outpaces any other comparable suspension.

I'm guessing he gets 2-4 after any appeals and taking off time served.

Hunt got 8 games... I assume there will be an appeal?? I also assume we move Duke now.

No Appeal... it'll be interesting to see how and where he fits...

Way too harsh IMO.

Reportedly the Browns were anticipating 8-10 when they signed him, so this wouldn't have any affect on their plans with Duke.
