Over the next few years, we'll likely find out if Kelly max'd ND or if ND max'd Kelly.

Given the 2016 fiasco, I'm inclined to believe ND saved Kelly's ass and then he was able to build off it. Most coaches would've been canned and had to rebuild their career.
He's won a couple of DII championships and a Citrus Bowl. ND maxed him. Big time. Once he stopped hiring his boys from Grand Valley State, he was winning a lot more games with Long, Rees, Elko, Lea and Freeman. He can't get that kind of reach and make those kinds of hires at CMU or UC. If he had been smarter he would have hired outside of his own network a hell of a lot earlier. That Van Gorder hire nearly ruined his career, which to your point, makes him damn lucky he was given a chance to audit.

And that he had to recruit....
According to Tom Lemming, Kelly spent too much time golfing when he should've been recruiting. He mentioned on Zorich's podcast that Kelly got lazy on the recruiting trail and it cost them some really good players. Apparently Chase Young's HS coach at DeMatha told him that Chase didn't go to ND because Kelly never visited him at the school. Meanwhile Urban was there all the time, even if it was just to shake hands with the HS coaches.

It wasn't just Chase Young that Kelly screwed up. Loy mentioned in a chat a few years ago that Curtis Samuel wanted to go to ND but Kelly and Diaco didn't give him the time of day. Zeke Elliott said he wanted to go to ND but they wanted him on Defense.

I remember this painfully well, at CB I believe. BK can be blamed for a lot of things, but this one was just a bad eval is all. It happens everywhere.

You are way above your Christian paygrade. Are you, consistent with Christ,s requirement so without sin that you are qualified to throw this stone?
Matthew 7 :: NIV. "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

I think BK opening his fat mouth will likely do more good for our program than bad, TBH. The irony...

It probably does happen at every program, but for all of the good evals (Tillery, Styles, Russell), man was there a couple painful bad ones (Addison, Zeke, KAR, Micah Jones....).

"Brian Kelly" is currently trending on Twitter, and the Driskell article lighting him up is the most discussed item on /r/cfb.
Let's be honest... Driskell has been sitting on that article for 4 years now. Ever since the 2016 debacle. This is his Magnum Opus. He was the poster boy for those who called BK an egomaniac, selfish, etc. And I'm sure he will repost the article again when BK starts showing the same behaviors at LSU.

You know, I've been as hard on Driskell as anyone but that is probably the single-greatest article he has ever written. I'm almost floored it came from him. Driskell earned points with me and I want to publicly put it out there because I've been very critical.

Well, your response is serious, so I would like until Sunday to respond.

I assure you I will quote Jesus Christ. And only Christ.

Christ was unequivocal about sin.
That will be demonstrated

I do not know what "new age Christian belefs are." There, I am agnostic.

I only and solely and joyously pay attention to Christ, and as we frequently remind people, the four Gospels take up a "mere" 126 pages in the average Gideon Bible.

Spoiler: Christ was unequivocal and repetitive about each of us cleaning up our own act (that is a parahprase) before we start "confessing other's sins."

Again, your response is measured and apparently in good faith.

For some of the others who post here, well, that is why Matthew 7:6 was issued by Jesus, the Christ.

Do this in private chat, we do not need to clog the thread up.

Some of what he has said is good feedback.
If ND was serious about winning it would lead in certain areas like facilities. Since it doesn't they clearly aren't as serious about winning as places like LSU. Which is fine but don't crap on about winning NCs being the goal.

Mr. Holland's Opus or whatever that very cute movie was called had none of this General Sherman's March to the Sea energy. Frankly... that article deserves its own movie.

Yes, the lack of a chef explains why we lose in the playoffs by 30 to Bama/Clemson/etc.

there would be dozens of small things like that that would add up to costing several 50/50 recruits who we compete with (for example) Clemson or OSU for.

I’ve felt like the fat jokes about BK since he left have been pretty childish, buttttt I do find them to be a little bit funnier now that he’s bitching about the lack of a chef while he was here lol

Well, Kelly was running out of excuses for his inept ability as a coach when competing against the "big boy" teams, so why not give one a try?!

Personally, I think the tradition and facilities used by legends is what make ND appealing. Anyone can build this kind of crap. Maybe making the facilities a little more functional is needed. I suppose we'll be buying NFTs soon to update the Gug.

At this point, anything negative that Kelly says about Notre Dame just makes him look like a sad af loser. So by all means, keep talking Kelly. Maybe you’ll get that statue next to North Dining Hall one day.

So are you saying we cannot judge sin? Everything goes? Jesus never meant for us not to judge sin, he meant us not being hypocritical, blind, self-righteous judging. We make judgements every day. Sounds like new age Christian beliefs have entered your brain. That bludgeon has stopped true discussion on the issues of sin because people pull that card out and think that is the end of the discussion. There is a lot more to that statement, grabbing one verse it is easy to make any argument, but then it loses context when you take the totality of scripture.
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Of course, this is a mere excerpt from What Christ Said with more nuance in Matthew 7:1-5.

To wit: 7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone

This is an excerpt from John 8, when a bunch of old guys tried to get Jesus, the Christ to be complicit in stoning a woman.

Christ exposed their hypocrisy, and as is shown, they had no choice but to self confess and depart.

Tomorrow many Christian denominations honor Palm Sunday. John 12 is what our family read to prepare.

Christ is clear. 89 chapters, again, just 126 pages in your average Gideon bible.

And never forget this:

Just going to a church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you a car.
